886, Brian Owen, my closest friend at school (Leamington College), the man who introduced me to to Stock Car Racing in about 1967, which became a passion for life. I raced in Berlin, of all places, with the number 124, but love watching Brian's progress. Great geezer!
This looks alot like the jalopy races we had here in the U.S. during the 1940's and 50's....loved them then and love 'em now. Fastest cars to the back and every man for himself...✌😄
Hard to believe that 886 Brian Owen and I were at school together in 1970 and used to go all over the place to watch F1 Stock Cars. 47 years ago, and still in contact.
I'm from across the pond. Really good clean racing. Why are the cars in groups that are so far apart on the initial start? Is it some kind of handicapping system?
I'm not sure what the version they were playing is called, but the original tune is called Tom Hark. It was a big hit in the UK in 1958 for a South African group playing what was known as Kwela music. here is a link to the original hit by Elias and his Zig Zag Jive Flutes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zKz5kpqctV0.html
Been reading the rules 🤔 I have a 1948 Austin 8 ideal for the purpose but it’s missing rear axle and engine (robbed by previous owner for a hillclimb special!). The rules permit engines etc from same manufacturer and I do have 1948 Austin Devon 1200cc engine and rear axle. Would that be permitted do you reckon??
