Can member that we called those rail motors the "Cranny crawlers" when I lived in Springvale in the 1950's. They went to Cranbourne but where they went after that we didn't know.
@Schony747
@Schony747 2 года назад
That's funny. I'm assuming they made it down towards Gippsland somewhere.

2:24 The NSW "distant cousins" to these rail motors would be the CPH-class *Tin Hares.*

@@Schony747 The CPH's were single units that could be hooked up to form a two- three- or four-car train, depending on how heavy the demand may be at a given time of day. The major drawback is that there was no going from carriage to carriage like you can with modern trains as the two driver's compartments are at the centre of each end of the carriage.

Great video Brenden. My better half an I rode 91RM when in Daylesford in January 2021. The whole precinct is a huge credit to the volunteers. I love the growl from those motors too.

All tourist railways and tramways for that matter in Victoria are a huge credit to the volunteers. They are well run and a great day out.

Great coverage of Victoria's railway history, thanks Brenden, really enjoyed that and also learnt something more. What was the grey box on a stand (7.48) at the platform where the rail motor pulled up? Ticket validator? An update on Maldon would be nice one day too...

Hand sanitiser mate. Covid protocols still need to be followed.

If this were two views of the same departure, shot with two differently-positioned cameras (10:46), The sound of the horn could provide synchronisation for you to have the departure seen from the platform as your main image, and the shot from the side of the line as an insert(overlay) image in one corner of the screen.

Looking back at the video standing closer to the fence would have given a better view of the yard as well.

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚝🚞🛤🚋🚊 especially railcars like that one he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service carrying both passengers and mail on tracks that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build clones of these and the departments of transportation should rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and removed here in North America 🌎🇺🇸 and run these on them.
@Schony747

Sounds like he loves trains! I'm all for preserving stuff as well and using closed lines for preserving our history.
