If you like Kenny Burrell and fine jazz archtops, you don't want to miss this video. In it I interview Jay Wolfe who tells us all about how he and Kenny designed the Groove Master and the Super Kenny Burrell guitar models for Heritage. Jay also shows us the striking similarities of this newer guitar to that of a vintage 1934 Gibson Super 400. Very educational for every guitarist!

so sad to hear about the serious problems the great Kenny Burrell is having, here's hoping this man gets the help he truly needs ...a total treasure to music in general, and a jazz guitar icon to all of us who play this music...Kenny's touch, his class and overall mastery of jazz guitar have and will always be...an inspiration.

Wonderful video Rich, glad to see Jay still going strong. I've known Jay since the early 90's and have bought several Heritage guitars from him over the years. Kenny couldn't be more deserving to be represented like this..

My old dad had a pre-war Epiphone Broadway with the DeArmond pickup like the Super 400 you have here.

I have a late 80’s Heritage Golden Eagle, ordered from Mr. Moats over the phone. Was searching for a Johnny Smith in the day, but a difficult search pre-internet. $5,000 is a bargain for that Heritage model considering what any Super 400 would go for.

Why bother with a bridge pickup for a newly designed jazz box? Seems to me that virtually all of the artisan-crafted archtops built today have only one pickup, and that's just fine. I can't recall a jazz player having the toggle switch anywhere but in the neck pickup position when using a two-pickup box.

I learned from Jimmy Bruno that even though most jazz guitarist only use neck pup that 2 pup jazz boxes generally sound darker than single pup jazz boxes. Interesting point.

I'd love to hear about the EXACT differences between the Super Kenny and the Super Eagle models ! On the outside the two models don't differ that much really ....

Hi, wondering if you can answer...I think the Super 400 has a larger volume than the Super Eagle. The Heritage I read is 3" deep (vs 3-3/8") and "shorter" body". I wonder if that significantly affects depth of tone acoustically or amped but if this is true and it does, it would be good to know. I've owned a Super 400 - sweetest tone I've ever played on - about to purchase again but the Heritage Super is $4000 less. I can afford the Gibson but wondering if I should now.

I recently contacted Heritage for a slightly modded Henry Johnson...they came back with 7500...their prices have really gone up..and that was bypassing the dealer. Great guitars though only affordable to non players..lol

The Kenny Burrell is just too narrow at the nut. It seems most or all of the Gibson diamond headstock guitars have that narrow neck at the nut which is real tough to play for guys who are six feet or larger, who have gorilla mitts!
