I almost forgot to write which size I like better. I definitely prefer the size 29. Although I'm quite tall (175 cm) the gm is to bulky for me. If I have a lot of stuff, I take a different bag.
One thing I noticed with your bags is they have a gorgeous shiny patina. I bought an etaupe Evelyne pm last year and it looks flat matte. I wonder whether over time it will also glow or they changed the finish? New garden parties also have that matte finish.
Hiii dear! Very good question..! Mine are indeed quite shiny - although they for sure look more shiny under studio lighting compared to natural lighting. I bought both my Evelyne bags secondhand, so I am not sure if they were more matte initially, or if Hermès has changed the treatment of their leathers to make them more matte. Next time I’m in Hermès I’ll ask an SA about this 😊
Hi Amanda, thank you for this informative Video. As always with a good dose of humor and self-mockery, which I really like. I've had a new Evelyne 29 in black clemence leather with gold hardware for 3 months. I think the bag is great, really effortlessly chic. BUT: The Clemence leather is actually very soft. That's why I also ordered a bag insert, made of silk. Of course, this makes the bag a little stiffer. Do you or your mother use bag inserts for your Evelynes? Also, the leather is a little bit dull. I wonder if it is developing some patina. What do you think?
Hi Karen! Thank you for the kind words :) First off, I just have to say - Evelyne bags with gold hardware are so pretty!! Indeed the Clemence leather is very soft, I don’t have a bag insert for my Evelyne bags because I actually like the kind of unstructured and relaxed look of the Evelyne - and I think wearing a bag insert would make it look more structured and kind of rigid if that makes sense. 😅 The leather looking dull is difficult for me to comment on though, although I would assume a three month old Hermès bag should not have developed patina already now. If the leather looks oddly doll I would probably go back to the Hermès boutique and check with my SA if the bag looks as it should. Hope this helps 😊

I don't think that a patina could have developed on the Evelyne after such a short time. My question was more whether a patina could developed over a longer period (years). Anyway: I carry the bag a lot at the moment and have totally gotten used to the more matte finish. So all good😊😊😊

I’ve since seen some newer Evelynes and they are indeed more matte than the vintage ones - I would assume Hermès have changed the finish of the coloring they use but I still need to verify that by asking an Hermès SA.. Hi Betty! I think both a PM and GM could suit you well - none of these I think would look “too small” on your tall frame. Depending on how high/low you like your bags to hang I may suggest that you get the Hermès Evelyne version 3 though with the adjustable strap to ensure the strap isn’t too short for your liking. Nonetheless i would say it’s more a matter of how much/ what items you want to fit in your Evelyne bag. Does this help? 😊

Yay I’m happy to hear that! I totally agree - the Evelyne is such a low key luxurious bag - it is one of those bags that works for all occasions since it looks so chic and luxurious yet so casual! I think nowadays I wear the GM more just because it literally fits everything and since it is clemence leather it looks a bit slouchier - giving it a more casual look compared to my PM in Togo. That’s great! Yes shipping to Sweden via Vestiaire Collective has been super smooth - I only order from sellers within Europe though. If you order from outside of Europe (England, USA, Asia) then I am pretty sure you will have to pay import tax. Nonetheless, on shipments within Europe and via Vestiaire Collective for authentication has been very smooth and my orders have taken about a week/a week and a half to arrive to Sweden.
