It was Hermes and Zeus, dressed as beggars, who visited Lot and his wife at Sodom. Zeus became angry at the lack of hospitality and brought on a great flood which destroyed Sodom. The only survivors were Lot and his wife (Virgo). Upon dying, they were turned into an oak tree and Linden tree.
Hermes has a lot of similarities with Exu, one of the Orixás in african-brazilian religions like Umbanda and Candomblé. They are both tricksters, messengers and travellers. Exu is the only Orixá (as far as I know) who can travel between realms. He is the one who takes the offerings made by people to the other Orixás. Every "trade" with the Orixás must be done with Exu as an intermediate. Likewise Exu is related to travelling and pathways. Just like Hermes, the crossroads is commonly associated with him. Exu is also often depicted with phallus or rods. Amazing that two different and distant cultures can produce such similar stories.

Fun fact, maya, hermes mother, is a titan, making him a half breed, part primordial, part god. As his father is zeus. Furthermore, i believe his attatchment to or interest in humanity, is part of his half breed aspect. As humans a creation of the titan prometheus, whom he shares lineage via his mother. Perhaps what makes zeus the king of gods is his intermarriage with titans, mortals, and gods, all at once.

What makes you say that sugarplum? Besides I wasn't actually Greek I was Atlantean. If you we're me all those millennia ago you'd know that. I'll tell you a little story. I left the planet after watching my home my friends and family all vaporized in a massive explosion. The island sank within minutes. Only a few survived, myself included. We filled a cave with our knowledge and technology. It was sealed and buried. Fast forward about 10-12,500 years, not exactly sure. I arrived just before mid July 1979. I've been living/hiding amongst you humans ever since. I came back to find and open that cave and give the contents to the human race. A gift. When/if I find it you'll know it and you'll know I ain't bullshitting you. Also I got the partial blame for destroying Atlantis and causing the deaths of tens if not hundreds of thousands possibly even millions of people that late afternoon. I delivered the order that led to the explosion. Which in my defense I tried to stop from happening. Coming back to this planet was part of my punishment. I am amazed at what you humans have accomplished in my absence. I'm also exceptionally disappointed and disgusted when I learned of your species history and how you've treated one another and the bullshit you've used as justification for the countless horrific atrocities your species ancestors have committed. But anyway I'll tell you a little about myself. Those ancient stories about me and my family are based in fact. But the stories are mostly bullshit. Inaccurate or just plain old bullshit. I absolutely love human technology. T.V. movies, music, books, all the modern conveniences. I love hash. Alcohol. Nicotine. You have the best stories. The human imagination and creativity are incredibly impressive. Honestly the best I've ever seen outta the numerous planets and realms I've been to raising hell. I'm a bit of a pain in the ass everywhere I go. I'm just trying to make things better. I have learned more here from you humans in the last 43 years than I ever did anywhere else. I will be sharing my memories of you humans, what I have seen and learned during my time here. This is my last trip here on this planet. I am not coming back after my mission is over. I'm here to give the humans the priceless contents of the cave and get you rolling in the direction of the power of the mind. What your species calls psychic abilities.
