DarkclawAJ AJ a human dies like every five minutes and an another is born at the same time. It's the circle of life. No need to be pressed about it or a killjoy.
Proof that hermit crabs are smart and not throwaway pets right here! I have 3 hermit crabs with 5 years of expirience. In 5 years my hermit crabs can't do this when I put a new shell in!?
+princessfnaf101 HELLO FELLOW HERMIT CRAB LOVER XD I have 3 hermit crabs in a 20 gallon long tank. They are the funniest little creatures to watch! So smart. So much smarter than we realize.
I got to witness this the other day in person! I went camping in the dry tortugas, and to my surprise, there were hundreds of hermit crabs scurrying all over the tiny island! I was lucky enough to witness one of these shell swaps. It was so cool!
"The small crab takes its place at the end of the line.... And the last shell has a hole in it but its better than being homeless" Lollll... These little guys are so adorable 😁😊😄😍👍💗
i knew that the hermit crabs did change shells when they´re to big for his actuall shell, but i didn´t know that they change shells between them, It´s an interesting fact about this amazing creatures!
This reminds me if my hermit crabs. I miss them. One memory I had with them was that Princess, one of them, would always pop out if her shell when I would say "coconut treat!" They both unsuccessfully changed shells and passed away. ?-2012 Princess and Blaze RIP
Omnivore means that we have the ability to digest both plants and animals. Being an omnivore doesn't obligate us to eating meat. True carnivores are obligate flesh eaters. Omnivores are not. So if you don't have to eat your dog or your friend's dog, why would you?
Andrea Kladar It also implies that we've evolved to include a wider set of foods in our diet, and we needed that variety to live. We can get by on just about anything, but we thrived because we adapted and ate whatever was available to us that allowed us to grow efficiently. Granted, I am against cruel and inhumane ways of mass producing meats. I've been to a modern slaughter house as well as one located in a third world country - believe me, they're both equally grim, but the modern one at least has their employees wearing gloves. But even still, there are plenty of farms and other sources of meats that allow their animals to live comfortably to a relatively old age, and I'm fine with that. I would actually think that wasting the meat from a naturally deceased animal to be extremely wasteful. Same with animals that are hunted due to overpopulation, it's for their - and our - benefits. Would I eat a dog? No, but that's because of preference. My body is fully capable of doing so, meaning that eating them isn't a crime against nature. I'm actually quite hesitant to say this because I know people will immediately lash out and say that it is, but it really isn't. It's a crime against current standards and social norms, which I gladly abide to, but an animal eating another animal is not 'playing God'. On that note, I still wouldn't reduce my list of potential food items that give me proteins and other things required for my health and well-being. Especially not if the reason to do so is because I'm told to, or worse, to impress a minority of people in my area. The same could be said about any topic really. I'm not saying being a vegetarian or vegan is wrong, in fact, I applaud the people who find genuine comfort in following that life style. But to expect others to follow it is a self-centered notion. tl;dr I like eating chicken. I'm going to eat chicken. My dog likes to eat chicken, too. We get along just fine.
You actually sound a lot like me a few years ago. I actually grew up on a farm so I had developed all kinds of decent theories around why I was ok with eating animals (though I also knew there is no such thing as "humane meat" as I grew up on what is considered a "humane farm"). I was justifying it because I thought we needed to eat animals for our health which you currently believe as well. You sound like a reasonable person so hopefully you'll be open to learning about the "necessity" argument more. May I please ask you to watch this video covering the latest research on eating animals and disease? You don't have to of course but given you're a lot like me and actually care about animals as well as your health (and are reasonable in terms of realizing there is no difference between eating a dog and eating a cow), I think you would appreciate this video: nutritionfacts.org/video/uprooting-the-leading-causes-of-death/ All the peer review research covered in the video is cited in a section titled "sources cited". Thank you in advance for watching it if you choose to do so.
There would be more shells for that poor little crabbie if people would stop stealing them for the pet trade, but that will never happen (and who am I to judge, I have pet hermit crabs).
soo cool! love hermit crabs..i have 4 had more but sadly a few passed. my biggest Exoskeletonisha was a bully. pushing others amd trying to steal other hermies shells. In the end other crabs forced her into a small shell and she passed.😞🐚
it has to do with shell water regulation. they keep water in there shell for breathing and keeping their flesh abdomen moist. Its more like the opposite of having a roof in your house. instead of keeping the water out, they want to keep the water in.
