Hermit's Cave: House of Murder
-----------------------------------------------------------
Episode Summary:
When Jim Burton buys the big house on the hill he fails to get a property inspector. Instead he buys the big beautiful house at a cut rate price from the richest man in town. Some may question why the good deal. But not our Jim Burton. His housekeeper, Millie, stays in the house then decides that the noises and shrieks is enough, she is out of there. But not our Jim Burton. He is a man of science and there are no such things as ghosts. Such a man of science is our Jim that he uses the large basement on the new house to conduct his scientific experiments. Okay, Jim begins to get the picture when he sees the door to his laboratory open on its own. He is rattled when he sees his scientific journal open and pages turn by itself. But our Jim, he is not to be trifled with. He calls his good friend Lymon in. So, Lymon Carmer and Jim go through the house. They decide that someone must be hiding in the house trying to foil Banton’s experiments. Well, its not so much someone as something. And there is a very good reason for the house being such a good deal, actually two reasons. And well, in this Science vs. Supernatural batle Royale, lets just say . . . hey, there’s a big beautiful house for sale on the hill, real cheap. It’s a must buy. See the Hermit in the Cave for details.

Program Summary:
The Hermit's Cave was a radio horror anthology series. As the wind howled, the ancient Hermit narrated his horror fantasies from his cave. The show syndicated by WJR Detroit in the mid-1930s, sponsored by Olga Coal after the first two years.
The hermit was not kind to the characters he narrated, they died in gruesome horrific ways: chopped, bashed, mashed, and worse. Luckily for the audience the sound effects created by Dwight Hauser were up to the task. The cackling character of the Hermit was played by John Kent, Charles Penman, Toby Grimmer, and Klock Ryder. William Conrad produced when the show moved to KMPC Los Angeles with Mel Johnson as the Hermit (1940-42), followed by John Dehner (1942-44). The stories were written by Lou Huston and Herbert R. Connor.
