At 77, I watched "Ellery Queen" from 1950, when its original star, Richard Hart unexpectedly died of a heart attack & was replaced by Lee Bowman in early 1951! John Newland, (Charles Boone), who later became the host of the t.v. show "One Step Beyond", was excellent as a "psycho killer"! /Years later, ca. 1966, I was in the same NY Army National Guard unit as Lee Bowman's son, Lucien Lee Bowman, until he left for O.C.S. training! Small world!

I am a lifelong Rohmer fan, after having seen The Face of Fu Manchu in 1965, starring Christopher Lee, and then getting a couple paperbacks that Christmas. I just found a great book, The Radio Adventures of Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu by Martin Grams jnr.
Rex Stout certainly had an agile mind, didn't he? What's REALLY amazing is that *he DIDN'T EVEN **_NEED_** the income* from his "story telling," having *_ALREADY_** become quite well-to-do* by the the invention of his *"Children's Banking System," from which he received - literally - FRACTIONS OF PENNIES ... FROM **_EVERY_** PARTICIPATING CHILD IN AMERICA, OF WHICH THERE WERE _MILLIONS_!* Quite a brain, all 'round. 😘
4:54 about as ironic as it can get! "I want that man....he's murdered to get furs!" Indeed. Murdered every single animal to steal their coats. I adore these old shows but since we live in modern times, it is important to speak up about the atrocities still being committed against fur-bearing animals.
