Hermitcraft 10: Episode 6 - HERMIT PERMITS! Back on the hermitcraft server to announce a big change to this season's shopping experience. Art by Hoffen: / _inkghoul #hermitcraft #minecraft
Honestly i think scar is onto something when he suggested the ice theme. Go into your villian arc and become the ice king. The sea has betrayed you and you must freeze it
"NGAUHHH!" *water bottle abuse* "NO WAY!" "NO WAYYY!" ( *Sploosh* ) "NO WAY!!!!" " I WAS RECOR- AuuAHG UAHG" "I WAS RECORDING!" "I GOT IT!!!" "HOOOO- HU HU HU!!!" *B R E A T H* *Gremlin giggling insues* "its been *SO* longggg!"
@@alexgrissom3513I doubt it, he wouldn't have pretended to scar that he hadn't got it. But by how he acted and talked about it, it was clear he hadn't got it yet
@@charmychar390 yeah and score got it last episode not this episode it’s possible how he edited it. He could’ve definitely gotten it after he showed scar the cod dungeon But we don’t know that part we just know he got it after scarred did
With a 5.4 percent chance of not getting mending after 9727 fishing rod casts, Grian had a greater probability of getting 5 mending books than getting none at all😂
It's 1.9% to get a book with fully enchanted rod. But with a weight of 2/135 for mending to be on that book, it's closer to 0.00028% Or about 33,750 fishing uses to "guarantee" a mending book.
@@22over76 It's not how probability works. If you assume 1.9% to get a book with 2/135 probabilty of it being a mending book (so 0.028% = 0.00028), you than know that each fishing rod pull will not be mending with probability 1 - 0.00028 = 0.99972. Not pulling out mending 9000 times has then a probability of 0.99972^9000 which is roughly 8%. So Grian was 8%-unlucky to get it that late. But then I'm not sure if 2/135 chance for a book to be mending is accurate - does it take into account books with multiple enchantments on it, etc? If the chance is higher, Grian's luck may have been even worse than 8%.
Since Grian spent so long trying to get the mending by fishing, he might as well put it on a pedestal in the chamber of sea critters as a remembrance 😅
@@theredknight3736just have a duo of a "redstoner" and a "builder" that checks the "safety-ness" of the shops, like a random redstones around is going to be a "circuit" that could be a hazard or random floating block being a "force of nature" Of course, this needs to be all about jokes or it's just wouldn't be funny, but is also kind of challenging and fun to make
I love the way hermits aren't so isolated this season. They're cooperating with their builds which adds so much to the story of the buildings and it gives it so much more life like that.
you just know that with the permits for legal shops, there will definitely be a black market someone might get way more of the materials than the actual selling person can get, so they buy in secret
"OH- **almost falls over** No way. HEOO **claps** -WAY! NO WAY, I WAS RECO- WAHH- I WAS RECORDING. I GOT IT!!! OOHOHOHUU **intense inhales and exhales** oh- hohohohohohohohohohooo. It's been so longgg"
Makes me want to save that timestamp and replay that part when I reach my own achievements so he can celebrate for me/with me, cause sometimes I need to celebrate like that but I’m very delayed at fully grasping how excited I am and just need a person to hype me up 😂
I am in disbelief because when he showed the book I literally rewinded it because I thought he just got it but he has just had for quite awhile. Wow, well done grian well done.👍🏻
Grian should also make another painting for that story mural; the mending book that was given too him that he tossed into the water cuz he didnt catch it himself.
I think it would be awesome if he renamed it and gave it a customer texture! really set it apart from the rest. and of course give it a nice podium or shrine!
I really love the tunnel. The Water channel under the walkway makes it fit the vibe more imo because maybe the tunnel isn't perfectly watertight so u collect leaking water in a ditch and pump it out, which feels very turn of the century
@@cygnus6047 Never check the comments until after the video, because you WILL see spoilers (unless this was the top comment, in which case I'm sorry for your loss)
Wait when did Poultry Man return during S9??? Did I miss something Edit: Okay. I remember now. Thanks everyone. NOW PLEASE STOP MY NOTIFACTIONS RAAHHHHHHH
That really felt like Grian, without any form of persona or RU-vidr mode on, was shocked and thrilled about the book. Such a raw and real clip and an interesting watch
If Grian removed the chair in the sea critters room and move the book down there for display / protection, I feel like that'd one perfect way to finish off the mending book fishing saga. Especially if he did add in the third painting to tell the tale of Hope, Despair (Scar), and Attainment with the book on a pedestal in the middle of the room. A thank you to the chamber!
its because he is the most popular hermit , in terms of sheer subscriber count- oh, wait, I just fact-checked that, he's at ~8.5M, Mumbo has ~9.3M. I'm pretty sure he was at the top at some point, but, I dunno! I guess he's just good at/enjoys designing/moderating these things! (Also, in subscriber counts among hermits, definitely got a secure second place. Third-most-subscribers is SmallishBeans at ~3.7M).
This feels like the end and the beginning of an era all rolled into one! 📕🎣 A portrait of Impulse and Pearl getting their books while you fish sadly and confused would be a fun addition. 😅
It might take an absurdly long amount of time for something but that overwhelming happiness you feel at the end of it is so so worthwhile in so many cases, this is certainly one of them
Your reaction to your finally fishing mending out of the river of Doomed Fishermen is so wholesome. I teared up a bit listening to your excitement and relief at finally having caught it. Congratulations, Grian. I am proud of you and your perseverance. :)
Scar hit the jackpot. Docm77 is extremely interested in sand, and has a tunnel bore to make millions of diamonds. All Scar needs to do is NOT destroy it this time, and he'll be rolling in the cash.
@@jonathanasdell4539That'd be a very very short negotiation. Doc doesn't want to supply anyone with sand. He wants to make sure he never has to actually go out and mine it, because he hates that it's not renewable and automatable.
Doc has no interest in the sand at all. He wants to make the hermits shuffle sand because the told him he can’t use a sand duper. Now he is forcing the hermits to shuffle loads of sand to reel the pain and change their opinion of sand duping 😂
Hermit permits turned out incredibly fair. Everyone got good ones. Everyone good mediocre ones. The system is great and being able to trade is also great. Good job.
Grian never ceases to amaze me with how creative he is with these ideas he comes up with. Adding him to Hermitcraft was certainly not a mistake, he has a lot to offer.
Not gonna lie, the Hermit Permit idea is _brilliant_ for keeping SMP shopping districts fair and fun -- it minimizes bidding wars and cutthroat competition, encourages bartering and cooperation, and makes it much harder for any one person to completely dominate the market. Massive, _massive_ props to whoever thought it up.
With the auto crafters I was hoping to see a massive shake up of the hermitcraft economy. It would also teach the basics of supply and demand. And it would have been cool to see the economic shake up as traditionally valuable blocks become cheap and plentiful while some other blocks retained their value. Instead they went for a controlled economy.
I was hoping that they would play around with other currencies that weren't diamonds, like a modified loot table for certain things that adds a rare custom item so that the economy isn't completely broken like GTA and America.
@edwardscott3262 To be fair, they've had more free-form economic models in previous seasons, and it tended to get a bit... _brutal._ Hermitcraft is still supposed to be _fun,_ after all -- a 1:1 realistic economy is more likely to create tension between the Hermits than bring them together, since the endgoal of capitalism is to create one winner and a countably-infinite number of losers.
@@snicksss nothing. take care of yourself bro. ive seen that achievement and promptly ignored it since cuz thats crazy bro i dont have time or patience with that lol
I was genuinely horrified when Grain that he had "9 more books to go" until he said he was kidding 🤣 (...BUT THE FACT I BELIEVED HE WOULD TRY TO GET 9 MORE MENDING BOOKS EVEN FOR A SECOND SHOWS THE SANITY OF THIS MAN 😆 😭 😱 )
Spoiler Ahead: It genuinely sounded like Grian was gonna cry when he got the mending book. Especially with the, "I was recording!" Edit: I didn't quite think this this comment through when I wrote it when it came to spoilers. I genuinely didn't think anyone would see this as there had been a lot of other people that had said the same thing.
He did cry, and when he revealed that he had the mending book this entire episode i was like... Jumped off my seat... genuenly...Am so happy for him, it only almost took 10000 tries for him to get one so... I think that's a guinness world record
Assuming the odds of getting a mending book is 0.0006(0.06%), if we were to assume grian used a fishing rod for fishing and not shenanigans 9700 times(claiming 28 shenanigans) the oddsnof having it take 9700 tries is 0.002, which is almost as rare as the odds of getting a mending book first try!
***POST EDIT: My comment is a SPOILER! I’m so sorry for those spoiled before I did anything! I didn’t mean for this comment to get this far! Please enjoy the video and come back to this comment if you wish! . . . . . . . . . I love how Grian's reaction to him finally reeling in the Mending Book is absolutely akin to a Pokemon Shiny Hunter finding a shiny after so many encounters!

I'm so glad Grian is going for a more chill season. I think it's hard not to get caught up in "achievements" (like finishing mega builds/projects) in hermitcraft because it operates on such a huge scale. The reason the dream smp was successful was because of the interactions between members, and I think the same goes for hermitcraft. The mega builds are incredibly impressive, but at the end of the day Hermitcraft is amazing because of its Hermits. I think letting go of that need to "achieve" is so valuable because it means every amazing build comes from a place of passion and not obligation. Super excited for this season!!!
What if they bake the chamber in the last painting with the book on the anvil, and a village painting in the background. (To have the chamber, you need a painting)
I just want to say thank you Grian. As a hard of hearing person I want to say thank you for adding edited subtitles to your video. I know it must be a lot of work but, its so nice to see and be able to participate further. So from the bottom of my heart thank you. Truly
"Did you do the redstone yourself?" "I did, that's why it hurts you." This is the single best interaction between 2 minecraft players i have ever heard
I know it's something that actually does exist, but i find it hilarious that the answer to getting horses across the river isn't to build a bridge, but to dig a tunnel.
