Hermitcraft 9: Episode 26 - THE MINECRAFT MULTIVERSE 

I would love to see Mumbo walking around Hermitcraft like "Where is everybody?"

How on earth am I meant to recap this? 😂 Maybe I should let this new team handle it...

As a species, the hermits should all be known as intellectually smart people, plus Grian and Scar

This crossover must be really weird for Gem as she is in both servers lol

I think hermits lore-wise are somewhat like the dwarves in LOTR. They are definitely smaller, and tend to walk around with backpacks full of blocks, food, and riches. They love to hoard wealth over time, and take great pride in having a lot stored up, even if they ultimately never use their wealth for anything productive. They are generally solitary creatures, preferring to build up massive structures around themselves rather than live in a communal space. These structures are very much a reflection and extension of their own personality, and one can easily identify what hermit built what structure with a simple glance. However, their solitary nature is often assumed to mean that they are unwilling to collaborate or spend time with others - as such, when they group up towards a common goal, they can achieve great things.

You know I’m just imagining when the hermits finally get back to their server everything is Mumbo themed and he just took over everything.

Grian being like "wym you don't just pick up and relocate your builds on a whim?" and then offering to rebuild Oli's tent closer is so funny

The Hermits are literally like the dwarves in Norse mythology

Grian: “‘establish peace between empires’ we love a little peace on Hermitcraft” Also Grian: has started and/or aided in several wars

i can imagine mumbo just joining the hermitcraft server and being like "where is everyone? Well, ima go take over the world with vaults!"

I can just imagine mumbo going insane alone in the server and when they finally come back there would be a bunch of fake people (scarecrows, armor stands, statues etc.)

The Lore of Hermitcraft becomes deeper and deeper with each episode and it all begins with Grian threatening Timmy as soon as he finds him

I love how Grian immediately begins threatening Timmy after finding him.

That secondary splat by Scar is one of the funniest moments I've seen on any mc smp.

Hermits = gremlins that commit war crimes every few episodes

Scar dying right after Grain is the epitome of bromance.

Lore-wise I kinda picture the hermits as little people with enormous backpacks almost twice their size. They're known to be Travellers who explore every world they find and leave enormous monuments as their mark on the world. They earned the nickname "hermits" because of their oversized backpacks and whenever they start building they sort of just dump the contents on the ground and it comes out as a mega build. In short- They're short people who blow away people's expectations by doing big, enormous, incredible things.

02:25 Scar following Grian into death is the funniest thing I've seen all day, and that perfectly cut wheeze at the end easily brings it to my top 5 favourite Desert Duo moments ever

I feel like Hermits as a species would be somewhere in between Hobbits and Dwarves, since they have a combination of both nice builds and crazy contraptions, along with a great deal of infrastructure. Both are also a lot shorter than normal people, too.

I'm just imagining mumbo back on hermitcraft flying around trying to find anyone and being overly worried.

I can't wait for Grian and the Hermits to get home to find Mumbo going crazy with isolation and cobwebs everywhere

i really like the idea of all the hermits actually working together on something , like a whole faction or guild in this fantasy server

Grian I think you should name the hermit empire: "Hermit Hollow" you could then make little houses for each of the hermits

The way Grian screams “TIMMYYYYYYY” with the webcam mic is the funniest thing I have ever seen

I feel like some sort of cross between Dwarves and Fae would fit very well, as Hermits are known for their love of flight, mischief, resource gathering, and massive projects!

I cant wait for mumbo to get on the Hermitcraft server, be alone, and be like "Did I miss something?" Then he probably going to end up finding the grumbot ask it some quetions, find out where everyone went, end up saving them by finding a way to open the rift (using redstone of course) for them to get home. Something like that. At least, thats how i imagine it.

I love how Grian's presence just absolutely scares Timmy.

It's actually quite cool that pixlriffs was able to just start a recap channel about something he enjoyed, and now he's literally meeting the people he's been a huge fan of for a long time. Quite amazing, what a crossover!

Common Characteristics of a member of the hermit species: - short stature - sticky fingers - natural aptitude for flight with their various wing types - antennae for communicating with other hermits - a fascination with diamonds - other abilities related to their type (such as undead, slime or pesky bird) These are just some fun ideas I have! I have really enjoyed seeing the story lead up to this and am excited to see where it goes!

I think that hermits should always be obsessed with diamonds. Making pillars out of them, trading them and most importantly, wearing them. Hermits LOVE wearing diamonds, and this above everything else helps you to tell them apart.

Lore wise, I think the hermit species should be shapeshifters, in the way that they can shift to fit the story they’re telling. They have base forms, like Doc is a creeper, and Cleo a zombie, but with story shifting, they can become Medusas, or elves, or turtles or butterflies!

All we need now is for Mumbo to show up at Grian's base and wonder where everyone is

Now that Mumbo is back, it would be really funny to see him all alone on the hermitcraft server as he logs in.

I imagine that the hermits have been "touched by the rift" in some way. They could then add a bit of purple in their design so they are visually different. Other than that I love the idea that they are just chaotic nomads :D

Pixies! They’re smaller! And mischievous! And they come summoned into the human world through mushroom circles (reminiscent of hermits coming thru a portal into another server, no?) they are sometimes rumored infestactasous too I believe, fitting for hermits who have come into a new world and immediately cause trouble lol. Or otherwise you guys should just live up to the name and be hermit crabs! Each elytra would be a different shell too!

I think for the hermits as a race, fae would fit so well. Fae are known to be almost otherworldy creatures from another plain that humans and others can't possibly understand. They follow different kinds of rules of their own, known to find loopholes and be tricky with their words. Are big tricksters and love receiving gifts, usually foods or shiny teasure-like objects. They are also often thought of to have wings, and we know hermits have a strong affinity to their elytra. The elytra could be styled after bug types of wings to associate all the hermits into the "species".

I think mumbo will comeback to the hermitcraft server, realizing he is alone, finds the rift, realizing the others are trapped in the empires server, and will be the perfect lore to have a person who has been gone in the hermitcraft server be the one who brings the members back.

Hermits aren’t necessarily short, however they tend to be viewed to at least hold a skillful wisdom that no one would know otherwise. Hermits are also seen as crazy in most circumstances. Hermits are also sometimes considered the first step to sage hood in fantasy and mythos.

Ima - imagine Mumbo making an episode on hermitcraft right now. What if he was just minecrafting around and then the episode slowly devolves more and more into "where... where are all the people????" He could find the diamonds that went missing and just be like "hmm. I mean. It's not like anyone is using them!"

I’m thinking that every hermit craft member have like a void burn(a purple and black splotch of liquid)anywhere on there body showing that they traveled through the portal!

Hermits are intuitive creatures. Their small size makes them perfect for cramming many useful farms into tight spaces. Given enough room, they can grow these farms to produce an abundance of materials. Hermits then take these materials and trade them for gems. A few hermits have attempted to pass off gems of lesser value, but this species really only seems interested in diamonds, using them as a currency, either individually easier to acquire, or smaller quantities of items, or even as whole blocks for bulk purchases or hard to obtain items. Organized, they gather all their surplus goods in a single shopping district away from their homes, so that all hermits can find what they need quickly and efficiently. They are also a very sociable society, often times building near each other and/or connecting their homes through tunnels and roadways. This does not mean they are not without mischief, however, so tread carefully, least you encounter a Hermit a bit to excitable with loud noise-makers of any variety, or even a bit of TNT.

My species ideas. Hermits are driven by Diamonds, they are like a comfort to them, a feeling of safety. And although different seasons are separate from each other hermits remember snippets from previous series. Hermits are also incredibly long lived, some of their number being hundreds of years old. I also like the idea of hermits being like a big family structure with a lot of close sibling dynamics, especially when compared to the squabbling of the empires. Hermits are petty but they care enough to never leave someone in the dust.

My thinking is that Hermits are half-Hermit crab, but instead of shells, they have a little house on their back

Wait, so the Rift sends messages from Hermitcraft to Empires just fine, but completely scrambles the messages (and LIVING BEINGS APPARENTLY - Lizzie's fox villager turned into a regular fox when it came through) coming *from Empires* to Hermitcraft, so the Hermits might have come through to Empires in one piece, coming back however... might be a bit more complicated?

what defines a hermit? settleing down and staying in one place of course!

My theory is that Mumbo will return to hermicraft. he will get started up again, familiar with all that has changed and realise that no one is joining the server. He will eventually encounter grumbot who will tell him what happened, and that he need to open the rift. Mumbo will somehow open the rift on Hermitcraft's side, and send a red stone flying machine, along with a note on how to use it, to activate the portal from their side

The difference between the Hermits and Empires is like the difference between the high school Robotics Club and the high school Drama Club. Everyone is now stuck in the auditorium together, and the robotics kids’ tools have gone from motherboards to paint brushes. 😂 Now they just have to wait for Principal Mumbo to come and unlock the doors so they can go home.

I love how they build the lore to every Minecraft smp as if they are connected into the rift and the multiverse.Pretty cool

I can see a scenario play out where Mumbo tries to unravel the mystery of where everyone went. Eventually he stumbles upon this portal, reactivates it, and brings everyone home.

I think that hermits are hard working people that can do a lot of things in a tiny amount of time. They are also good at prancing others and make others laugh

This was my first ever HermitCraft episode and I am both thoroughly confused and enjoying myself immensely 😅

Due to diamonds always being seen as currency, hermits could be kind of be obsessed with diamonds.

I’d imagine a hermit to be a slightly shorter, hard working, smart, and they’re really industrial. They’re like little ants in the fact that they can hold way more than their weight (due to the fact that literally every hermit has a full inventory and is always carrying around so much). Hermits on the empire just give off ant, steampunk, scientist, industrial, hobbit vibes.

Grian just crossed the 5th wall, kicked it down, blew it up and then crossed the 4th wall then destroyed it.

The Hermits have hobbit or fae energy honestly. It allows for a lot of creative freedom to in your skins too.

Oh my gosh hermits match perfectly with hobbits you should totally make them look like a hobbit or at least a little close but I was thinking of is of somebody who doesn’t get out of their comfort zone very often or does it go adventuring but when it does come to adventuring they’re all over it and they show their true self😂

I think Scar, in general, is peak Hermit. Always starting off with something different every season but eventually doing whatever makes money, insane timelapses, and overall goodtimes. Also I like how Grumbot orchestrated this crossover so when Mumbo finally gets back he is the only one on the server and, therefore, de facto Mayor.

Grain is really trying hard to avoid building the back of Dwayne.

My take on the Hermit species: - They are a nomadic people, never staying in the same place for long - Once they are satisfied with there Settlements they seek new lands to start anew leaving their lands fo those that find them afterwards - They are very industrious, always trying to build more and faster than before. Their motivation is to surpass their previous heigth (- probably compensating for their slightly less than average height)

I'm just imagining Mumbo logs into the hermitcraft server and is just questioning where everyone is at. Also, he is officially the richest hermit in Hermitcraft because everyone else is in Empires.

If you need defining physical traits for the hermits, I suggest looking to the fanartists! A lot of artists are already drawing you all with various mob traits (yourself with parrot wings, scar and cub as vexes, etc). I know that doesn't really give you all the SAME traits, but personally I think the uniqueness among the designs is part of what makes Hermitcraft so fun. Plus, with all the unique textures Empires uses, you have the opportunity to make your favorite fan interpretations real!

Grian's first instict when he arrives at a foreign land is to immediately prank it's inhabitants. Love that for him

I love the idea that the empire smp is all medieval and then the hermits come and make a giant industrial district. Absolutely love it.

I think he hermits should have their own words and philofesies like " it lagged into my inventory"

I like to think that hermits as a species look strange in an uncanny valley way. maybe hermits blink slower. maybe they can bend their joints a little too far out for comfort. theres a tiny bit of lag when they speak and when their mouth moves. they sit idle in poses that look uncomfortable.

Hermits strike me as a changeling-type species. Clever, quick-witted, and industrialist, but prone to wandering off on individual adventures, following thoughts on a whim, with slightly inhuman glints to their eyes and a penchant for chaos, and possible minor shapeshifting or 'glamor' abilities. Plus, changelings (at least Pathfinder changelings) are all incredibly variable due to the different types of 'hag' they can be descended from, and the multitude of heritages their other parent can be from; this accounts for the Hermits all being very different, despite sharing traits like love of chaos and dramatic flair.

been watching grian's pov since hermitcraft season 6, I love how grian always makes the situation fun and immersive
