I've heard rumors that he won't take part in signing IRL TCG cards because that would mean having the cards mailed to him...hence exposing his exact location. I'm thinking.....gotta be Witness Protection Program.
The thing that makes Cub and Scar so fun to watch together is that they both fully lean into each others insanity (with all due respect, of course). Absolutely loved the episode, Cub!
I took part in the first online Hermitcraft TCG tournament and got to the Quarter-finals with Common Cub as a cornerstone of my main deck (and the person who knocked me out won the whole thing.). You’ve got a good card there.
Ngl hermitcarft is either really good at making custom merchandise based around hypes from the season. And have high quality connections allowing them to make them this fast, capitalizing on the hype. Or they are absolute masters in preemptively creating and building ideas like these and than sell the hype to the audience. And building story and fan interest along the release of the idea. No matter which way it went it is scary how good they are at this. The lasting hype around tcg and the technical extend of the game inside another game, is staggering. Also, either way tcg is a really well build card game unlike many others in the real world.
Petition to have Jellie commentate every Card game even though non Hermit ones, her comedic timing and wise words were unparalleled and at times had me questioning my entire life
That game against Scar is easily the best TCG game I've ever seen... with Jellie commentating constantly throughout, and just the chemistry between him and Cub is unparalleled. And I was not ready for Joe's 'Rock and/or roll' 'The tables have turned.' 'There are no tables in the pyramid therefore none can be turned within the pyramid!' 'I'm sure there's one somewhere...' I had to watch that bit twice it was so funny- Spoilers: And I don't know if I'm sad for Scar that he lost again or happy that it just means we get more incredible games like this when he challenges again
Ok so Joe inadvertantly just came up with a sweet new mechanic for TCG. Reborn type stuff to add a layer of difficulty to the Pharaoh matches. Fallen Cubs come back after death as Pharaohs, but they're either afk or go back to hand or something
Enjoyed all the games played. Joe's reaction to Cub was fun to watch and Jelly commenting on the Scar-game was just to funny. Always enjoy seeing Jevvin, so that was a blast, too. As not to spoiler: Joe winning was satisfying. He has had so much bad luck in the TCG, so watching him win made me totaly happy.
The TCG Song is so gosh dang scary when put in this context. Also, I love how Cub starts of with a lot of intimidation and then instantly goes, “Hey what’s up :D.” Very fun video indeed! Edit: Modifiers mid game would be pretty fun! I think Etho has some written up on the original TCG arena.
I think Scar missed a great play at 1:08:35. Instead of bringing in False he could have brought Wels instead and get rid of the mortal Cub. I guess he didn't know you didn't have an item to put on the Pharaoh but I think it was worth taking a risk
It would have been a big risk, as if cub had an effect like poison, a sword, or TNT, wells would have died. But that cub was causing so much damage, knocking it out could have turned the tide of the match.
Cub be like: an evil pharaoh that's actually good if you can defeat him, and have a snack droping pyramid. Doc be like: just a "tomato farmer" who live in a giant hole with a giant flying goat skull in the center that can crush you with anvil if you stand on it.
1:01:26 Hmm, I think that TNT was a bit of a misplay. Had you held onto it for one more turn, Wels would have gone into the orange instead of straight to red, meaning he delt less damage (120). Playing it on the following turn would have then brought Wels straight to 10 HP, meaning Scar would only get 1 attack at most with red damage (150), assuming he didn't just immediately switch.
i kinda wish they kept the design of the in-game cards. either a 1-1 rip from the game or at least the same layout (ie cub in the nether instead of new design) and the same type icons
They couldn't use the type icons, because those are images owned by Mojang, so protected by copyright. I guess they decided that the new icons didn't fit in with the Minecraft aesthetic on the rest of the cards.
Well, they might as well give back to the community, and ask for art commissions for the cards. The ingame card’s designs were a result of making the most economic design for making cards from maps. Once you go into physical cards, you no longer are quite so limited. More detail means that there is far more you can convey, and so just limiting the artist to “draw Cub in the Nether” wouldn’t really be inspiring.
At 23 minutes 15 seconds, how is it that Joe attacks to kill the bottom pharaoh and changes Hermits in the same turn? I didn't see a chorus fruit played. Am I confused about the rules?
Am I an idiot or was Joe using the 3 cost speedrunner cub attack with only 2 of the energy? I'm sure I'm missing something as I haven't followed much of the TCG outside of the pharoah fights. Are there varients of each card as well?
Am I the only sad to see that the card types are not represented by in game items? I was fully expecting speed runner cards irl to be eyes of ender not boots with wings.. A little sad.
It might be to avoid legal ramifications of selling merchandise with minecraft elements integrated into them? Like, unless you go through minecraft to make it happen(which is more conplicated and more costly), doing this is simply more manageable for everyone involved.
Pharaoh playing 2 item type is definitely reducing the potential of deck. Pls actually make your deck strong by playing just 1 item type deck. Maybe remove 1 mortal type cub and have someone else
No, having it be a fusion of speedrunner and balanced works quite well. Speedrunner Cub is excellent for this deck, the ability to switch out after dealing devastating damage is amazing and if the deck is running at its best, you would be switching out to a armoured-up pharaoh, tanking hits and healing up the speedrunner cub. Mortal Cub’s vex magic can take a speedrunner item as its second slot to be active. Overall, the deck can have issues, but overall really plays quite well and can be quite oppressive even when luck isnt exactly on Cubs side. If it was a pure balanced deck, Cub would probably have to resort to Bdubs, which would decidedly make his deck a bit of an obnoxious stall deck.
Sorry Cub, stopped watching as soon as Joe said "unfortunately American style" whatever that means.. maybe I'm still a little upset about when Joe Cleo and X ganged up on TFC for something he had said 10 years ago. The Hermits can say and do whatever they want and all the power to them... But whenever they get political or even close , the spell gets broken for me and it loses all the entertainment value so I stop watching . Doc has been doing that a lot too, killing the otherwise beautiful HC feel with unnecessary virtue signaling
@@freighter1097 oh, I won't stop watching Cub.. just this episode put a bad taste in my mouth. Haven't even unsubscribed to any of em cause I don't care enough to go press the button, but I've definitely stopped actively watching a few of the ones who break the spell consistently.
