Hi buddy, it is been 2 years since you posted this video. Any updates about the feeling of having mesh inside your abdominal area? Does it have any complications or bad effects on you? I have inguinal hernia and planning to have mesh used for the open operation but I am in dilemna getting a lot of negative feedback about mesh.
@TheOneGoodRoad
@TheOneGoodRoad 3 года назад
Well I'm not entirely sure there is a definite answer to this question. It depends on what you want and how it effects you. I don't post so much about it these days that's true, but I can say the mesh did remove the bulge of the hernia (but mainly only fixed the appearance). I feel the surgery did effect my digestive system, even 2 years later. I eat alot of fiber than before and drink way more water. Excersie I'm not sure either, after 2 weeks of recovery from the surgery I could then ride the bike and walk. Running took longer because you don't want to rush the healing process. People forget that not only can the surgery be expensive (if not covered) It causes alot of scar tissue, they have to cut in to fix a tear? I'd say if it causes pain (mesh or not) while doing everyday tasks (ie. standing up, then sitting down, driving car or sleeping, trouble digesting food.) Best get it looked at. If you have trouble while running, walking (2 hours or more) or cycling and there's pain, well the body deals with all sorts of pain and is good at adapting to it with the mesh or not. I have heard some small hernias dispear on there own but if you excersie almost everyday then I'd say it's unlikely to heal due to the stress excersie puts on the abdomen. To be honest though mesh or not, it's going to be fine either way. It really depends how it effects you. I only wish I would've been more patient to having the surgery, but I'm greatful for the experience. Have a look if you can get the non mesh surgery longer recovery but might be worth it (FYI. as a piece of good news a year after the surgery, I got back to normal running levels and bit after the first year, managed to run my first ultra marathon.) Hope this comment helps maybe I'll post an update video talking about the questions you highlighted.

I have inguinal hernia on right side. Doctor wants to do laparoscopy . She said she wants to check left side too with camera, I told her my left side is fine. I don’t know what to do. Doctor. Said 4 holes in your chest. I am terrified , I told her no mesh too. Doctor said if we find anything think else life threatening we will fix it too.. Fix my hernia, leave everything alone. Has this happen to and one else.?
@estheticallypleasing8468
@estheticallypleasing8468 2 года назад
I just had hernia surgery literally yesterday. I had a lump on the right side but she said there may be one on the left also. I have 4 little (maybe 1/2-1cm?) “holes” in my upper abdomen and she actually had to make an incision on my lower right pubic bone area to get to the bulge itself, which may or may not be necessary for yours. You definitely want to have them take a look at the left since they will already be “in there”. Might as well have it repaired also, that way an additional surgery down the road isn’t necessary. Recovery so far is to be expected. Definitely make sure you have someone with you the first 24 hours after, which unfortunately I am unable to have. It’s tough getting up off the couch, toilet, etc. But the pain isn’t unbearable and meds help that. Hope this helped!
@Mursounderground
@Mursounderground 2 года назад
Marius if I were you I would only do the affected side, what my surgeon told me is to only fix what is broken, there is no point in doing laparoscopic surgery because you’re essentially making more holes on your belly without the need to, I just had inguinal hernia open surgery with mesh and no issues. I’m recovering well. This is your choice though I would go for open surgery, I don’t like the thoughts of having holes on my belly. Best wishes

@TheOneGoodRoad
@TheOneGoodRoad 3 года назад
Well I'm not a trained doctor but from what I've heard and in my experience this usually a sign from the body thats it's healing. But then again my opinion is to avoid the surgery when possible only do it if it's definitely necessary (painfully consistent). But I wish u all the best for the healing it can take years before you notice it less, and it's good to remember that surgery is not a guarantee, it's a patch job.

You have a good life philosophy, as far as hernia surgery, you recovered in two weeks, wow, thats fast, any tips specifically for inguinal hernia repair?
@TheOneGoodRoad
@TheOneGoodRoad 2 года назад
Well it's always developing and changing as is life. I would say it's a series of stages and patiences. Also ask your self is it really necessary repairs if it doesn't cause any major pain? Because surgery can do some damage as well and the body needs to recover from these effects.

Yeah that's fairly common those feelings... After 2 weeks walking will hurt much less, and getting out of bed as well. 1-2 months 2 hours bike rides are double 3-5 month you can start to pick up 20-30kg roughly that's my experience 6-8 months u will feel the mesh but not a lot. Well 2 years later everything is finally feeling less intrusive. For some reason my gut processes food differently compared with before my gut can't seem to retain water very well and the first year excersing was a challenge. Everytime I ran, cycled or even walked for 1 or 3 hours I felt pain around the scar's they made maybe I'm just sensitive to it. If I get it again not sure I would go with surgery is very invasive to the body I realise I should've done it only it was unbearable or hard to pass food though. But it's stabilized I feel more normal now. 2 years later did 400 km of hiking this year in the Pyrenees mountains and feeling pretty good, way less pain each month. Remember to drink plenty of water and take it easy the first few months don't push yourself. Good luck 👍

Hey man! I had a bilateral ing. hernia repair using mesh, I regret it, had it removed 2,weeks ago, I feel awesome! My issues weren’t so much pain? Don’t get me wrong there was some discomfort, by my issues were things that you wouldn’t at first attribute to mesh repair, like you I had open repair , mine was lichentstein method, most most common I am told, large ultra pro mesh by ethicon, weird sensations, Inflammation in knee and joints, lower back , ears ringing happened later, the implantation of mesh was in 3-22-17, so I had it almost exactly 4 yrs. blurry vision, skin rashes, like scleroderma, sleep disruption, nerve issues like skin tingling and legs falling asleep when on the toilet, due to the mesh pushing against nerves and vessels , pulled calf muscles 2 months after mesh implanted, never had issues before that, immediately after surgery say 2,weeks hip felt tight almost like it was stuck when I got out of bed in the mornings then loosening up after waking for a short bit. All of these symptoms went away and I do mean all of them about a week or 2 weeks at the most when it was explanted, my hernia was a cord lipoma that wasn’t even noticeable, I didn’t know I had thyy them until I went to dr for what I thought had to me hernia related for heaviness in the thigh, also developed 2 hydroceles on each testicle that totally vanished after the explanation, they were gone the 48 hrs after the mesh was removed. It was only after I started googling mesh stories from people and saw a lot of my unexplained issues that I knew it was the mesh. The propylene starts to oxidize from your immune system attacking it, foreign body response or FBR and it caused all sorts of what looks like autoimmune disorders, but the culprit is the mesh. In my opinion I am no Dr nor do I pretend to be, so this is just strictly based on my experience, I would have it removed and if your surgeon can’t do a tissue repair, ask for mesh that absorbs naturally or ask them if adhesive bond, it’s a glue like substance they use, since mine was a cord lipoma it was skeletonized and no protrusion existed after that. I also asked the surgeon to remove all of the scar tissue build up from the anterior side of the mesh ( the part between your mons pubis area and the front part of the mesh ( the party facing up when layer over the hernia or defect ). The surgeon did a great job it looks like I never had a surgery there as the incision was glued with dermabond. I also use retin a in that area to gently remove the old layers of skin to promote collagen and new skin growth. The best time to have mesh removed or the easiest for surgeons is within 6 months of implantation if possible, this is because the mesh hasn’t had time to totally become one with the tissue making it easier to extract. Good vibes to you! I thank Jesus Christ for bringing me through this and all credit goes to my Lord and Savior!

@@dr.reviewsfrompersonalexpe7603 hey I had my laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery 11 months ago and since I’ve got the surgery I’ve felt I’ve had problems with my mesh I don’t get severe pain but I go through some small pain, discomfort and soreness everyday where the mesh is supposed to be, it goes on mostly all day and it makes me depressed constantly. before the surgery I felt way better it used to only bother me at night when I would lay on my side but now I feel it all the time, I barely sleep. I shouldn’t have got the surgery unless I absolutely needed to looking back now I could’ve just lived with it. I was playing college basketball a few months before finding out I had a hernia and decided to get the surgery & My plan was to go back to college & and play basketball. Today I rarely play because I don’t think my body can take it, it used to be the only reason I got up in the morning I still want to go back & play but I know I can’t like this I’m only 20 years only. I have sleeping issues, I Ice it several times a day, I stretch several times a day. Im thinking of removing my mesh but I don’t know what to do. Should I remove it and just live with the hernia being there? Get a different surgery? I don’t want to have more issues I don’t know if it’s just in my mind forcing my body to react to the mesh negatively or if I’m still supposed to feel this way a year after surgery and I’m just recovering. All I know is I just want to return to normal I don’t feel the same mentally or physically as I used too. I keep telling myself I’m recovering and doing better but I don’t feel like nothing has changed in the last 6 months I’m just trying to find advice from any source I can.
