I saw this movie and it was quite good. This is really the best scene in the entire movie where Steve Nichols becomes Captain Avenger for real and saves the boy. Great ending to a good film.
Anne Archer was almost in 1978 Superman to play Lois Lane ,but this film shows how good she would’ve been if she was picked ,GREAT film I’ve loved it shine I seen it in the theater in the 80’s and it’s still in my video collection
Got to admit this was a fairly cheesy movie. John Ritter, however, was great as Steve Nichols (aka Captain Avanger). The store scene shows him as a superhero, then the movie goes awry somewhat with static politicians. Then the superb ending where he becomes the superhero (Captain Avenger) again. The camera work was great when a fireman saw him on the roof. The female reporter summed it up beautifully when she said Captain Avenger.
Somebody black really would be the first one to run in there after him...... thats how it would be in real life for real. Is that Jim Brown playing that part ?
It was always the part that gave me as a little kid the biggest chill--just two regular New Yorkers who have been watching this go down, then decide: "There is no way we're letting that guy die in there after the balls he's shown to get the kid out." Because heroism is really about the act of inspiring everyone to act on the behalf of everyone else in the community. And real heroism is contagious. Just like that, these "regular guys" have caught it, and in a split-second, going in there for Ritter's character, being heroes as well.
Not Jim Brown…it’s an actor named Gerry Black. He played years later in a couple of episodes of the sitcom The King of Queens . He played opposite Jerry Stiller’s character Arthur Spooner.😊
Good movie, but NOT FOR ONE SECOND do I believe that AT LEAST ONE (likely more than one) First Responders would have ignored the order from the Fire Chief to NOT enter the building and would have gone in ANYWAY to save that child. No question in my mind. Plus that Lycra suit he was wearing would likely have melted from the heat and fused to his skin. Otherwise, a good movie.
@ Ronclown: You're kind of an ignoramus. Guess you were sleeping on the news of that brave young boy who died saving his folks in a burning trailer, didnt'cha?
