After watching his keeping and batting. I hated how they didn't bring him back in. Neville and Wade arn't even close to Haddins class! Mind you Gilly was above the rest
one of the greatest australian cricket turnarounds to date. i wasn't the biggest fan (with Wade, Paine etc.) but wow did he have an Ashes to remember. couldn't be happier for a guy that's had adversity.
You've got to think, even with Mitchell Johnson running rampant and Ryan Harris providing quality at the other end, this England team posed WAY more of a threat in this series than the English did in the 2021/2022 tour. I mean, if it wasn't for some rearguard fightback from Haddin, Johnson and Smith (who I think then batted in the lower middle order) they could have maybe won a test or two (and then who knows what the outcome might have been). Just shows you how bad 2021/22 was, really - Australia played well, but nothing of Johnson's standards, and yet England folded quickly - often before the game even began.
To that journalist who said " you could have respected swann". Well, he got way more respect than what he deserved. If he is great, then lets see his performance on the spin friendly asian pitches
So the numerous he and Hussey saved the Australian Cricket Team in 2010/11 means nothing? or when saved Australia from being defeated in the Ashes Summer in Australia? or when he's done the unthinkable behind the stumps and taken a screamer? I dunno people consider Gilchrist to be the best but Haddin has kept the standard high for the next wicketkeeper/batsman. Also stats are only half of the story.
RedKnight261295 Hussey and Haddin is apples and oranges. Hussey consistently contributed to winning efforts. Haddin on the other hand had a good series what 5 years ago? He's not worthy.
betabyfar87 There has been times when Haddin has not stepped up to the plate but Hussey was the same. Haddin also has contributed pretty consistently in both the batting and keeping departments. In a few Ashes tests in Australia, he has risen to the challenge and displayed why he was Gilly's replacement. Haddin may not be as explosive as Gilly but even Gilly had bad days, and as a follow up act to Gilly, Haddin played the part almost flawlessly. Peter Neville has some big shoes to fill.
RedKnight261295 As an Australian cricketer he doesn't and never has cut the mustard. Every player has off days but but when the off days heavily out number the good days it's time for a change. This new guy Nevill Will be much better than Haddin. The days of specialist keeper but mediocre batsmen are over you have to be proficient in both now.
