The parents work together to protect the babies. She moved the rescued one away from the scary humans so at least one was safe. The Dad's right there to protect the other two. (Did the guy catch the 3rd on? Looks like he's walked away).
That kid in the background was hilarious. 😆😆😆 “He’s gonna bite, he’s gonna bite, he’s gonna bite!!!” “That’s the Dad, that’s definitely the Dad.” The ending was super adorable, “Now, are you gonna forgive him duck???”
That was so cute. That kid was so invested in this rescue! Core memory right there! Who knows, maybe this experience will inspire him to be a veterinarian or a conservationist.
I did the same thing once as a kid because these ducklings couldn’t get over a wall, luckily I was dealing with a Muscovy duck and not a swan so I didn’t get attacked
Thanks 🥰 The ducklings also couldn’t have been more than a day or two old because they were the tiniest ducklings I’ve ever seen. It’s almost like the mother knew what I was doing too because she just sat and watched and as soon as she got them all back, they swam away. She looked distressed when they were too tiny to get out and didn’t know what to do. I was like 8 or 9, I felt so proud
The man made rescuing the baby swans more difficult than it had to be. He kept directly walking towards them and scaring them away instead of going around them and trapping them against the wall.
They're not overly Malicious either. If you try to mess with them... they simply go defensive, but also know when not to use their full power in the circumstances. Majestic is the word I would use for them.
I did that too in 89. Both parents went for me. Thier youngster was snared in fishing line, in the middle of a lake. My dad, cast a pike lure, and broke the line. The cygnet came to the bank as it was exhausted after its ordeal. Couple of Carp anglers said, he has been snagged out there for 3 days. Our thoughts of them, must remain unprinted. Anyway, i shimmied the bank and grabbed it. 2 angry parents hot pursuit. We cut the line from its legs, and then the fun started. Yes, 2 homicidal parents want my guts. I shimmied back and launched thier cygnet back to them, then they buggered off. Ungrateful gits ❤❤
They aren’t ungrateful. Swans don’t understand the concept of a person ‘saving’ their cygnets. No bird does. They assume anyone in (temporary) possession of their youngsters, is a threat. If only we could communicate to them.
This guy wasn't saving anything! The swans may have been all placed there by their parents. I love how the swan used his feathers like a hand and hit him like, "Leave my kids alone!"
His intentions were pure...but I don't think they needed "saving" at all here. That wasn't a huge jump. They were just being shy and scared. Nature is tough man. These are wild animals. The father has gone through this, and is encouraging them to grow up
@@user-eg6vh6ds9ewhich is part of nature genius! This is why people need to understand that nature doesn’t always need help from people and that life is not always sunshine and rainbows.
@@wolfgangdevries127 why do you need to write a nasty comment. The kind man felt the need to help …it was obvious the parents were upset at the fact the babies were upset… so he kindly was led to rescue them. If your sooo smart maybe you should go and watch and comment on someone else . Frankly this kind man deserves an apology. …I am holding you in my prayers… someone must have been unkind to you, hence you are lashing out at another person, who you don’t know 😮 🙏
Awww he’s definitely a hero human. Whether or not those babies needed saving would’ve been debatable. If given some space, swan Mom and Dad probably would’ve gotten to their babies eventually. But human had the best of intentions. Glad it worked out.
@@kinkykongaiYup, exactly. They wanted the kids to do it on their own. If all it took was a small obstacle to stop swans from getting their chicks, none would make it to adulthood. But the guy did have good intentions at least.
That was cute, but was there any need to intervene? Unless there was a predator offscreen or something, I feel like the cygnets would have eventually managed the leap and joined their parents.
She understood after the first one that the guy was not there to harm them. They're swans in a populated lake, its not like they haven't encountered nice humans before
The signets (baby swans) didn't need his help lol their parents can walk on ground, pick the babies up onto their backs and put them in the water. They were probably leaving them there to teach them how to climb and get into the water themselves. They have to learn to survive! You just distressed everyone without the need, sorry. Both the parents and their babies all seemed very upset, and understandably so. Please leave them alone next time. Your heart is in the right place, but you were doing the wrong thing.
Once the mom got the one baby she was like, Steve, he's trying to help. Will you stop that damn flapping.😂😂😂 But, did the man get the other two or only 1?
I wonder if maybe the father was mad because it was trying to teach them to jump or use their wings to overcome obstacles, and the human was ruining the lesson.
It's a nice thought but I'm fairly certain he's just mad because he's a male swan and he perceives humans as a threat to his babies- he would be angry regardless of the situation, because the guy is going near them. male swans are always mad if you go near their babies.
It’s normal for swan to let their young ones get themselves out of trouble. It’s how they learn to be independent. I’ve watched mom swans wait on their young ones over 15 minutes until they make it out of the water on their own. I know he meant good, but he made it more stressful for the swan family.
Actually, it kinda hurts them. The adult swans wanted the babies to figure it out for them selves. It was training day. But still awesome the guy did it.
@@QAZ-OMEN Maybe the dad was trying to teach his kids how to think critically? "Dad, why don't you let nature take it's course" "That's exactly what I was hoping you would say"
@@user-yj3jf9je7u Well, If you’ve ever walked on moss covered stones…….. they are slippery as hell…….. One slight offset of your weight…. Не нужно было руками трогать )) Просто сделать (сообразить ) маленький подъём,по которому птенцы взобрались бы на высокий бардюр. В мире много добрых и отзывчивых людей! Это радует.
Are you joking??? Thy weren’t in need to be saved!!! It would have taken a second to the mather&father to push them in the water. It’s part of their natural training and not a coincidence or a mistake if they were there.
@@gregsimo9886 Disagree. Many wild animals saved by human intervention. I agree it should be rare and only when absolutely needed. Saving a life is a good thing. Letting animals suffer and die just because you don't want to intervene is unacceptable. If humans can help, let them help. Chillax.🤗
The guy's heart was in the right place, so I have to give him credit for that. But he wasn't too bright. He kept approaching the baby swans from the side and from the front instead of from the back. As a result, he generated conflict from the father swan and ended up inadvertently chasing the baby swans _away_ from the parents.
He should't do that. The little swans have to learn how to survive and if that man hadn't try to "save" them, they had find the way to water. The "hero" almost made that they were lost and killed. The intention was good, but as we say in Spain: the hell is full of people who thought that their actions were correct.
Having lived by a lake with swans, I observed that it was best if it was not a man who did the rescuing, since those beaks are hard and at just the right height... So I started doing the rescues myself where possible. If a man must do it, he should have his back to the swan and look over his shoulder as much as possible.
SO WHAT if the guy in the video ‘interfered’ with the Swan parents teaching their babies? The swans will have plenty more opportunities to teach their babies. As one person said, and many RU-vid videos show, animals often help each other out. So the parent swans had help from a humanoid this one time. The swan family is reunited and the world did not fall apart.
It's not exactly about the help he gave, it's just that he got involved at all. Some animals will abandon their young if enough has "rubbed off" onto them from the human. These are birds, not mammals, they come from dinosaurs and couldn't care less if you helped their baby. They're not in the next pond over saying "what a nice guy".
@@Anto_Skum You do realize that is a myth created simply to stop people from interfering with wildlife. No animals would abandon their young just because of scent lol.
Quit projecting complex thought onto an animal. The swan saw a large creature approaching its babies and sought to defend them, by instinct, but acting warey to avoid injury. It ain't gonna trust something just because we can see the bloke going to help them, most animals aren't that deep.
@@Drankovich a swan can seriously injure you just like a goose can, he can even try to drown u👍🏻 and actually most animals are thát deep, unlike many humans 😂
~It’s my opinion: The animals probably would have found a way….I don’t think human contact is okay as the lil babies could have been harmed while they were trying to get away…
It’s actually better to leave them because that’s how they practice to start using their wings, like that third one did. He managed to jump in the water by flapping his little wings. I’ve seen cygnets jump over higher curbs than that. Anyways he meant well! Thank goodness the swan didn’t really go for him, they can get pretty precarious at times!
Exactly! Most people in this thread do not have an education. Where I moved to... to touch wildlife, you'll get a huge fine. This man interfered, the birds were not in any danger ..... so how is he a "hero"?
they would’ve done it on their own eventually, or with the help of the parents. Generally best to leave wildlife alone unless it’s obvious they’re in danger and can’t help themselves. He almost chased one of them over to rapidly moving waters
While in Austria I fed the swans in the morning, accidentally got bitten on the hand by one, the swan nodded it head down for a bit to apologize to me. It was magic. Love swans
Well, if I’m not mistaken, that is the river and weir in Otley, West Yorkshire, UK, where I lived until 5 years ago when we moved 6 miles away! That is a very slippery river edge and that area that he walked on is usually thick mud so it must have been last summer (2022) He did exceptionally well as the weir is usually huge and he wouldn’t have got down there. The swans are quite forgiving and used to lots of people but he did a great job with the rescue. The babies are often quite silly and go into daft places but usually get out OK. Thank you for helping.
You realise that 10 minutes later the cygnets will probably be back there? I was constantly saving ducklings that were going down culverts where I lived once. A lot didn't survive. Thats why they have so many babies, in the hope 1 or 2 will survive. Sad but true.
