This is genuinely some of the saddest news I’ve heard in a moment. I grew up with this game, and to see the servers going to be shut down breaks my heart. I really wish y’all could leave the game up, maybe make it possible for community run servers to operate. That way we have something to do while we wait for the sequel.

The map design has always been one of H&Gs strong points. The maps always included flanking routs, cover from tanks and snipers aswell as open ground for long range combat. I hope H&G 2 will retain these strong features and if the kickstarter is successfull you can count on me giving active feedback on the prototype.

For anyone wondering if there is still plans, this was just a trick, the "trailer" is a video of a game named RavenField with modding, if you have ever played it you can cleary see that.

If we lose all our progress from HnG one, what will be the point in playing HnG2? I hate to say it after 7 years, but it appears Enlisted may just be the way forward.

I've been playing H&G for 9 years and never thought the graphics were bad, this game was one of a kind and I spent 3,000 hours on it. If switching to a new graphics engine gives this game a new life, then I'm looking forward to it

Damn, was not expecting this when i woke up today. As one of many players with thousands of hours in the game, i can say that i do have high hopes, and that i will support it on Kickstarter. If what they said about the engine is true, then i fully support the move. I want H&G to be further developed, and maybe even flourish. But the move to the new engine can both be positive and negative, in some ways. As many have mentioned in the comments here, the game doesn't exactly give the good ol' H&G vibes, and looks more like 'Enlisted' (or any other more realistic ww2 FPS games in my opinion). Upgrading the graphics is of course something one wants to do when you move to a more powerfull engine, but just because it looks like 'Enlisted', doesn't mean it has to play like it. Upgrade the graphics, upgrade the performance, upgrade the UI, upgrade the sound design, and so on and so on. But DON'T CHANGE the core game design! H&G has never been a 'realistic' shooter, and it has never been a 'arcade' shooter (like CoD). H&G has it's own gimmick, and it's that which made the game so beautiful. I really hope H&G can be successful, but for that to happen, TLM will have to convince us that it's really H&G 2, and not a worse version of 'Enlisted'.

Please DO NOT shut down the original! PLEASE! Make it so the community can host its own servers or something, if possible. Or at the very least don't leave the game 100% unplayable.

I hope we can transfer or get some type of credit or tickets to rebuy things we have already have in the first H&G. Some of us have put thousands of hours and loads of money into the first game. I can imagine many people would want to transfer over all of their soldiers and progress that was made, over to this game. Give us some kind of ticket or credit that will allow us to buy everything we had on our soldiers and recreate them. This is a must, I would consider donating if this was promised to us.

So how are you progressing in development?

Heroes and Generals has always had a place in my heart and always will, I'm ecstatic for a sequel, but please keep the idea and the charm of the original!!

Nobody wants a new game. But please know that even if a new game comes out, there won't be as many players as before.

For anyone still here waiting and wondering: the second game is never coming out. The kickstarter didn't get funded and it was stated by the devs that regardless of whether or not they got the funding, the first game would be shut down. Since the funding didn't reach the goal, they decided to abandon all thoughts of making the second game. That was their plan the whole time, so unfortunately unless we get really lucky and something crazy happens, there is no more Heroes & Generals. Stupid management, and mishandling resources along with the dumbest business strategy ever led to where we are now. Mourn the original game with me, because we won't get it back.

Honestly what I've seen is an insult to the old players. If I'm losing EVERYTHING i gained in years and years of grinding what's the point of helping you out? My hours would still be lost into the nothingness since you decided to give and leave nothing to your veteran players.

Who's the lead game designer in this project? What is his vision exactly? Heroes and generals was a major success as a game. Despite outdated engine graphics and issues it still has active players. Are the people in charge understand the very reason for this? Because I have a feeling you just bought the IP and you're trying to use the game's name to mitigate you investment's loss. Are there passionate people about the new project? With the same vision as the original developers. For example nobody asked for PvE or co-op battles. Are you sure you understand what makes HNG special?

I have been playing this game for 9 years and next week I will be 22. That means I have been playing for 40% of my life. That is so insane and it makes me really sad seeing the game in the state that it has been for such a long time now.

Do what ever you want but keep the old school FPS gun mechanic style of H&G. It already good enough.

From the game play preview in the video, u need to add the "woundered, and killed" name the (yellow and red words) from old H&G !

I have 6k hours in the game, the most ever of any game I have ever played. My question is will we be able to port over our stats?

Dropped the goal from 3M$ to 2M$. That should be a red flag for everyone that they don't even understand what kinda budget they need.

Im kinda sad, they killed the original game under the promise of: "better game" however all they did was to try getting a lot of money, and disappeared from more than 1 year already... just give us the Original HnG back, update it a bit and lets forget about this absolute delusional failure that was "crowd funding", im very sorry, but nobody believed this complete scam, 2 Milion? from us? a bunch of WW2 gaming nerds? doomed the new game, and killed one of the most unique and fun game i ever played, next time, ask for funding to people who invest in this kind of game, the way it is now, either they wanted free money, or were just not sure if they are capable of making a good game to it be worth a real funding.

NOT excited about losing all my leveled soldiers and vehicles....just to start all over again!

I have more than 2000 hours in H&G, and I enjoyed every moment of it playing only one nation and progressing in it. Seeing a 2nd part of this game is definitely a happy moment for me .. I just hope you guys never change the style of the game, it was a perfect balance between arcade and hardcore aspects .. for example seeing the tank firing from 3rd person view with white crosshair in this trailer is disappointing a little bit because this will encourage tankers to rush cap zones without being afraid from surroundings, the best thing in tanks gameplay of the original game was the risk of opening the hatch if you want to check surroundings. You don't need to take anything from COD or BF, in fact and in my personal opinion I was always saying that AAA games need to learn and implement ideas from H&G, not the opposite. The original game was perfect .. a little enhancement to the graphics and sounds is more than enough to me. It was perfect and balanced game in both close and long range battles .. making the maps smaller in the new game will be your biggest and the most glorious mistake so I hope you don't do that .. In short, DO NOT change the feeling of H&G please, you don't need that .. and remember if you guys made it a similar game to games like BF, COD or Enlisted it will not compete .. it might polarize gamers from BF and COD communities "for a while" but it will lose all the original and veteran players of the original game, mark my words. They bring out Christmas 50% off deals and a new battlepass then a month later announce they are building a new game and will effectively close the game, big kick in the guts to anyone who thought they may might just put alittle in to help support the game they still enjoy, i think Reto and TLM have stolen enough money from the community over the years and never bothered to really develop any further, wasting their time trying to compete with better titles out there on the basis of the RTS uniqueness.

I played this game for 7 years and spend over 2000 hours online. The graphics was never a big topic to me, because the gameplay was so easy, funny and incredible. I loved it so much to cruoch during bushes and hunt snipers with a wrench. I miss this game so much and I hope the next game will compensate everything. Hopefully expectations.

i am very open to a brand new version of this game. the only thing that worries me is, whats about our progress, and spend money in the original version? our camouflages and weapons? do long-term players get any kind of refund in the new game especially if they had spend money? please optimize the new game as much as you can.....the old one wasnt that good in this case.

The new maps we got to see, are not really in line with the Hng I know. Realistic maps and better graphics are somewhat against the point of what I see as Hng. The maps don't need to be absolutely believable, they should rather be tactically interesting. And the shown maps seem to have a lot of clutter and angles to check, which I don't really expect from Hng, but could be interesting I guess, if I can cope with the added stress. Generally I think it will be pretty difficult to identify the different aspects that make up Hng and carry them over to a new game.

Good luck in raising $3 million in this recession, taking into consideration you are basically abandoning H&G and leaving the ~2000 players to dry. Players that invested millions into this game over the years and grinding to get to where they are today. Best of luck in your future endeavours🤡

it worries me that the little gamplay i saw realy looked like " enlisted"

And I hope that 'weapon, sidearm, grenade' scheme we can see in the UI is not a fixed scheme. It is paramount to Heroes and Generals that one is free to put whatever they want into the different equipment slots. (One of the many paramount things in Hng im afraid ;)

I wish I could support you in this. But after you accepted irl money for game-gold to invest in war bonds as a means to obtain permanent premium investment for a large amount of money in H&G1, that you had to stop offering due to legal reasons (outside your control), but then refused to allow players to convert back said gold (very much inside your control) back into irl-money, since the purpose of the purchase was no longer on the table, I have to point out you have scammed previous supporters out of 1000s of euros before, and I wont be fooled twice. It doesn´t matter what your own company policies says, according to Danish customer rights law, you need to return the purchase sum, if you can not provide the service any longer. But you banked on customers not having the time or energy to all sue you individually over this. Shame on you for behaving in this greedy, immoral and with extreme likelihood illegal manner!

So i guess this is it, i remember when Reto only had an idea, and that idea turned out a great im gonna miss this game, damn so many memories

I play since 2015 and i want to thank you for those years! It was a rollercoaster of emotion but in the end joyful and exciting. Thank you for this simple style and the simple graphics which make the game so unique. After this announcement I can absolutely say, that this game has gotten a place in my heart. I am feeling sad and have hope. I dont know to describe the feeling :/
