@@Mattpoppybros Actually they were. Star forts were virtually unassailable for most of the gunpowder age. Surface fortifications weren't really rendered obsolete until the 20th century, largely due to advancements in air power which meant embedded fortifications like bunkers were necessary.
@@SoManySkinks hmm after looking into it it seems that previous education had understated how long star forts were relevant for. Two hundred years is admittedly nothing compared to previous types of fortification but it's still obviously not nothing
@@SoManySkinks "Star Forts were virtually unassailable" dude what kind of fairy tales "history" books are you reading? That is, if you are actually reading history books.
when Jerma listens to advice from chat it's always like watching a drunk guy getting egged on to doing a backflip by his friends, or some other event that's bound to end in injury
Now is one of the best times to revisit it! The community is super active, with thousands of daily Twitch viewers and tournaments held all the time, and there are genuinely great mods that streamline and enhance the experience!
He streamed a decent amount of this game to be honest. He played like 2 or 3 long campaigns (all of which he lost disastrously), and they were 8 hours a piece. So surprisingly chat didn't bully him out of this game.
I've been playing this game since I was 5. I don't exactly remember when I finally understood that saving up so I could buy a Capitol would be a better decision in the long run than trying to buy all the dwellings I could, but... it happened. Eventually. I love this game.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, super special to my childhood, and I was incredibly happy to see that Jerma had streamed it, and excited all over again watching this. I'm so glad it was a longer edit too, it followed the campaign along well and kept in some great moments. Wonderful work Daisy!! Thank you :D
In the beginning of this stream Jerma talks all about how much he loves and absolutely adores this game. 2:31 is when the game begins to throws all that in this his face over and over throughout the entire stream as we watch him lose campaign after campaign.
Nostalgia made me search for that ridiculous "what really happened" video with STAR_, thought you'd be inactive but came to check anyway Damn am I glad to hear your voice, you made my childhood great man
I feel bad for the amount of people who didnt know he kept making shit, like i found this channel like a year after he started making stuff on it because i was looking at his channel, but some people are still finding it this far in
Same here, I was about to get robbed at gunpoint when suddenly the mugger saw I was watching Jerma985. Seeing such a short man humbled the mugger and he let me leave without a scratch.
I've done a few campaigns of this game myself and it's not really my type of game, but I still love the way it looks, the music, the creatures, the spells, etc. And I love how excited Jerma is about the game as well. Makes for some really fun streams when he's totally into a game.
I played this game while visiting my uncle in russia who had it. Like jerma, I had no idea what I was doing, and ended up just clicking randomly and it was fun as hell. Also: the game was in russian and I could not read a thing.
This looks like one of those games you would've played in the early 2000's as a kid and absolutely *dominated,* then picked it up 10 years later for a nostalgia only to realize you suck at it now.
I had never played this before, but l bought this game shortly after the stream and it's a ton of fun. Even my lil brother enjoyed it when we played together :)
the exact same with me, played it when I was 5 like crazy, didn't even read a single thing I would choose, and I yet still managed to win. came back 15 years later, and couldn't win on the easiest difficulty for the life of me.
Fun fact: If you lose a battle against the AI, it will chase after you if you reload, deviating from its original course even if you do the exact same thing.
Now this is a game. I used to love playing the elementals cuz i thought that the psychic elementals were sickos, but was hyper disappointed when I found out they were removed in the HD version
This is one of the first times in the last 12+ years of my life where I feel completely lost watching a game, not understanding how it really works what the fuck
Old games like that baffle me because a lot of people were great at this as kids, i would have had not even the slightest idea of how to play this as a kid, none of this makes sense, i play fps game, strategy game hurt brain
