I don't think watching someone play Heroes and talk can be entertaining for that long. *8 hours later* Maybe I should take a day off work... Great job, man, you're making some really fun and consuming content.
I remember when I was a little girl, my favorite part of the weekend is sitting right next to my dad and watch attentively as he played SoD! And he would also explain to me his moves and thought process so I wouldn't be bored. Love your videos, keep up the good work. I usually never comment on any video cause I think it's cheesy, but you deserve some praise for bringing back great nostalgic memories :)
Interesting! Up until now, I've never heard anyone make the claim that commenting on videos is "cheesy". I can definitely relate to your memories of the olden days. Back when I was younger, I used to sit next to my brother and fight the AI alongside him in SoD. He was the one who explained many of the game's mechanics to me and showed me many of the strategies that I know today. Anyway, it's good to know that you're enjoying my content and that you've been able to relive some good memories from the past! :D
Vidomina's run once you gave her the Cloak of the Undead King was one of the coolest things I've seen in Heroes, I had no idea that artifact could be so amazing
I'm not gonna lie -- neither did I. That was my first time actually putting that artifact into practice. I didn't think I'd be farming anywhere near that many Liches with Vidomina and Cloak of the Undead King. I'm glad that you liked watching it! :)
Glad to hear it! I try my best to segregate games in PvP and AI such that I play PvP matches on Twitch and AI matches on RU-vid. Having said that, the One Hero Challenge will be uploaded to my RU-vid channel sometime next month.
I feel like this can be used as an exam for the "Expert Heroes 3 Player" diploma: 1. under what circumstances you CAN'T use "resurrect" on the black dragons? 2. what happens when a hero wins a siege with only summoned creatures left? there was something else I can't remember already - it's been HOURS, you know - but I'm sure that nobody on youtube has shown those quirks before you did and even that not every ELO 2500+ player knows about them.
I believe the way Cloak of the Undead King works is that it uses the lower number out of a) "the total health of the creatures you killed" divided by "the health of the kind of creature you're raising" and b) "the total number of creatures killed" meaning that if you killed 5 skeleton warriors, you would, indeed, only resurrect 1 lich, because even though you killed 5 creatures, you only killed 1 lich worth of health, and if you killed 1 Ancient Behemoth, even though that's enough health for 10 liches, you only get 1, because you only killed 1 creature. It takes the lower value, rounded down. But you always get at least 1 unit, provided at least one enemy was killed. It's understandable that you might think it doesn't work like that, because when the ordinary Necromancy skill creates Skeleton Warriors (because there's no room for Skeletons), it always makes 2/3rds as many (rounded down) as if you made skeletons. No matter what. It's also worth noting that it calculates for each type of creature separately. So killing 5 skeleton warriors and 1 ancient behemoth will net you 2 liches, not 6 (also probably worth noting so noone gets confused, that that's all assuming you have 100% necromancy)
This is a great explanation for how Cloak of the Undead King works! I made a custom map to test what you've written here regarding the item's mechanics, and all of this is indeed correct. In the past, I was under the impression that Cloak of the Undead King didn't actually have a quantity penalty for raising upgraded units, but it seems that I was mistaken. Regarding my confusion on Cloak of the Undead King, the quantity penalty for raising upgraded units is not what misled me. I was just too lazy (and derpy) to contemplate how the item was raising so many Liches on the spot. At the time, I failed to remember that Cloak of the Undead King also pays attention to the HP of dead creatures in addition to how many enemy units have been killed in combat. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm glad I was right! Usually, I'd test every claim I make myself, but I guess I was feeling lazy. And if you're going to thank me for watching and commenting, I suppose I should thank you for playing and uploading :P
All good! I understand exactly what "feeling lazy" is like, especially while trying to figure out Cloak of the Undead King's mechanics while midway through a match where I was getting mauled by the AI. Also, you're welcome. :)
Dragogeddon with Orb of Vulnerability! The pain after realising what happened was definitely worth the wait! Can't wait for the stream on saturday. ^^
Welcome to my channel! I absolutely agree -- I do wish there were more people who made content (especially in English) for Heroes III since it's such an amazing game. Anyway, I'll try my best to keep the streams and videos rolling. Thank you for your words of encouragement! :)
+TheKnownWorld As a kid, I never managed to finish the dragon campaign. Now, after watching your videos and learning your gameplay, it was definitely the easiest campaign of all.
I still think this was the greatest video ever made by you - whole premise of Siedge survival without leaving your starting zone is unusual and fun, then the duel with Clavius and lastly the birth of The Cloak of the Balanced King :D I love your streams but it is not the same, I hope there will be maybe some christmas special this year :)
Really liked the siege challenge! Remember that you mentioned giving it a try with even 12hours but then it would just get out of hand.. Still how about giving it another try, using every possible OP unit-artifact you could, making some lych-skeleton ball or sth... Another think altough how much you like the game, man i see how much patience you need to put to it at moments.. Kudos for that! We dont mind watching some vids that were split into 2parts or even 3, i really dont push more than you d like in finishing a game.. Split it into many days even, as long as its still interesting^^ Thanks again for the uploads! Looking forward to the next one^^
Thank you for watching -- I appreciate the support! I'm glad that you enjoyed the match and that you're looking forward to my next video :) I can see that there are a number of people, yourself included, that are interested in seeing me give the Siege Survival another shot. Some of those that commented are also particularly unhappy that I redid the Clavius battle multiple times. Maybe in the future I'll try the Siege Survival again, but I think I've had my fill of this challenge for the time being. My focus right now is on the upcoming One Hero Challenge and other new challenges that I'm interested in trying out. Cheers!
I completely understand why you put rules in other videos about what spells you will and will not use, but it's really interesting to see things like Dimension Door being used to its full effect and how powerful it is....and by extension why you do have rules in the other videos.
Yeah, I hear you. Indeed, I understand that watching imbalanced parts of the game (i.e. Dimension Door) in action is fairly amusing in itself, but I do need to make sure that my Let's Play Heroes III series doesn't exclusively revolve around me using overpowered strategies for obvious reasons. :P
Great video. Thanks for making these, I'm working my way through them and enjoying them a lot. Turns out HOMM3 is one of my all-time favourite games -- nothing quite like it except for HOMM2. A friend of mine put it very nicely : "That one's a gem. We're not gonna get many games like that one." On Berserk, it has to be cast on the fastest enemy stacks, and also consecutively. If you don't, he can dispel/cure. Probably more important than just hitting the most enemies. I guess that's pretty obvious, but I like coming up with axioms/rules like that.
Also, your playing + commentary really hits the sweet spot for me. So educational, yet after a while sheer fatigue forces you into complacency/laziness, and I feel like I really get it.
Hey, no "stream notice" video to spam under, so I'll say here that I was glad again to see a challenge map (UtB) played by you on a VOD I found ^^ FFd the Diablo talk xD but sympathized with allergies! Those suck the life out of you man, I felt you so bad while holding my own nose with a tissue ball... Full support for continuing that (and the Xiedu rush with Rams, I MUST SEE THAT LIVE) and if it's 200 reloads per battle let the haters hate, they get plenty of their no reload PvP ]:) Yep. Just wanted to let you know there are us, who love challenge map streams even if we can't always be on scene for immediate support :)
Oh, man! My allergies were brutal that day, but I'd imagine that as a fellow human who has the same issues you can probably relate. RIP us! :'( Alright, onto Heroes III talk. First of all, you've raised a good point! If they want to see no reloads, then they can certainly rewatch the 1v7 AI videos or the PvP matches that I've played. Those matches, for the most part, don't fall under the save-scum department. Furthermore, I fail to see a better alternative that saves time while retaining enjoyment -- redoing a challenge map from scratch and wasting 2+ hours of everyone's time doesn't seem like a particularly appealing alternative to reloading a battle until I do it right. I appreciate that you like the challenge map streams! To be honest, I have a lot of fun with the challenge maps myself. Wayfarer and Unleashing the Bloodthirsty have been quite vexing, to say the least. Don't worry -- Unleashing the Bloodthirsty shall continue this Saturday, although I might not be able to finish it until much later since I probably won't be streaming the following week or the week after. Last, but certainly not least, I'll have to put some thought into the idea of the "Race on Xiedu". Just those words alone give me chills already! ;D
Man, just two days ago allergies hit me on the way home when I just got on the bus. Had no tissues. That half an hour ride was the fun of my life... Luckily the bus was mostly empty so I could take a seat, rise my head up and hold my nose not to sneeze hoping it won't pull a surprise Scooby Doo on me. I don't know, for me that's the whole fun about challenge maps playing and watching them. Gotta try various strats, try to think of a way to make stuff work. That takes reloads, but the thought process going into defeating a difficult tactical battle is the exact interesting thing. I mean, I don't mean to sound disrespectful to anyone, but how many times watching a hero chain on Jebus can be fascinating? I like the vs Dave/Huanito games, because then you're actually challenge and care to win, but the regular PvP matches just all seem kinda the same to me. Meanwhile challenge maps offer, well, ya know, challenges :) Different ones, forcing new strats, making us think in different ways, utilize different skills, spells. Nothing like a battle where Mirth is a spell more vital than slow. You don't get that in PvP. It's just such a nice change of pace which is why I hunt your challenge map games and VOD them if need be :P The Warlords scenario was pretty fun too. And I know you LIKE those Xiedu chills. Admit it ]:)
Exactly! I absolutely agree with your reasoning for playing challenge maps. As a Heroes III player, I much enjoy having to determine the best approach for these seemingly-impossible fights that the mapmaker presents me, especially over battles against the AI that I'm already so used to having in random maps. Speaking of random maps, I know exactly where you're coming from when it comes to the PvP matches. I know that you're not trying to undermine the strategies and knowledge necessary for competitive PvP, but at the same time I understand what you mean as far as repetitiveness is concerned. That's why I've tried switching it up with some of the silly Ramsrock39 matches as well, with 1-minute Jebus games and the Diplomacy vs. Cloak matches. I just quickly wanted to throw in my condolences regarding your allergies. The worst is when they act up while you're in the outside world with no tissues nearby. Fortunately, this doesn't happen to me very often because it's not like I go out into the outside world anyway. ;D Also, I'll admit it -- the Xiedu chills are great.
The reason you were getting such crazy high necromancy with the Cloak of The Undead King was that you were playing Vidomina, who gets a 5% boost in necromancy for every level. That's on top of the 2 Necromancy Amplifiers. In the battle there were 308 Centaur Captains at 3050 health, 198 Wolf Raiders at 1980 health, 83 Thunderbirds at 4980 health, 46 Cyclos Kings at 3220 health, 13 Behemoths at 2400 health and 4 Gold Dragons at 1000 health = 16630. A Lich has health 30, so the defeated army health is equivalent to = 554 liches. An expert necromancer can recover 30% of the dead creatures, or 166 in this case, but the Cloak increases the skill by 30%, so instead of 30%, it's 39%. Add in the Necromancy Amplifiers in the town. The moral of the story is GIVE VIDOMINA THE CLOAK.
Nice video dude :D Watched it until the end and had a blast watching you destroy the opponents with ARMAGEDON and the huge lich stack xD Thanks for posting these from time to time :D
Little bit strange - you can do whatever you want with Orb of Vulnerability, but still can't blind, curse and bless undead... P. S. Thanks for your great letsplays! And sorry for my bad English :)
Yeah, Orb of Vulnerability has some very odd interactions with certain types of units like the Undead and Elementals. I guess part of the issue is that the Undead can't be blinded since they don't really have a set of eyes, I think. :P
Galthran's law: as a Heroes wears onward, the odds of building a necro power stack approach 1 ;) Fun fact about the cloak: not only is it a one-for-one with the number of skeletons you would otherwise get, if you have only the upgraded stack in your army (say, only power liches) and no free space, the units you raise will be the upgraded stack. ;) I don't know about anyone else but I find this kind of high-power game deeply entertaining. We don't usually get to see a match go on *that* long, so this was a real treat.
Not entirely true. Assuming that the game uses the HP cap instead of the quantity cap when harvesting units with Necromancy, Cloak of the Undead King will only raise two-thirds of the usual amount. Nitpicking aside, I’m glad that you got to enjoy this longer-than-usual match of Heroes III. I’m not quite sure what you mean regarding Galthran’s law, though. :P
Galthran's law was a reference to Godwin's law. I just made it up on the spot ;) I read that the cloak gives a one-for-one conversion with regard to how many liches it raises vs how many skeletons, and the number of skeletons is based on unit number, not HP. I didn't see anything about a HP cap anywhere. But the only way to test for sure would be to set up a fight without the cloak, win it, see how many skellies you get, then set one up *with* the cloak and see what happens. Which I might actually do, now that I'm thinking about it.
Ok, so it turns out that yeah, it's not a one-for-one, there's some kind of HP limit -- I set up a scenario against 500 pixies and got three times as many skeletons without the cloak as liches with, and that's neglecting the cloak's necromancy bonuses. So I (and the wiki) stand corrected!
I had to do a fair bit of testing after this match finished to figure out exactly how the Cloak of the Undead King works. It's a very interesting artifact indeed! :)
I was laughing so hard on the inside when you after the 3 hour mark of this video had consecutive fights with Alamar where you lost exactly 2 skeletons in each fight
MFW I thought it's totally super fresh series, but then vid is 1 year old. Still feels fresh as fuck. Seen all of defense, now I'm hyping for ultimate revenge!
lol, nope! Let's Play Heroes III has been an ongoing series for the past three years or so. I'm glad you feel like this playthrough still feels new and that you're looking forward to my revenge! :D
I think you did actually have golden bow at one point, but switching shortcuts made it disappear because the backpack was full, you lost the lion shield of courage too for that reason i lost armor of the damned like that once also, you underrate[d] sorrow as well quite a bit!
Interesting! I don't believe that I've ever lost artifacts via hero transfer before. This would be the first instance of this occurring for me. I'm not so sure that I'm "underrating" Sorrow. I definitely wouldn't want to use Sorrow as the spell I rely on (especially over reliable alternatives like Slow, Blind, and Berserk) to try and inhibit monsters from reaching me since it's so chance-based. Would you?
This bothered me so much I had to find out what happened. You actually lost it to a glitch when switching to a preset with a full backpack. Check your inventory from 1:29:13 through 1:29:25 Sorry for double posting...
Please make another siege survival video during the summer! You are too good to play the random maps vs the AI so this challenge makes it a bit more interesting (Y). Great vids
lol, we'll see where this summer takes me. I have a roster of challenges that I want to get through, but perhaps after that I'll figure out whether or not I want to give the Siege Survival another shot (possibly even in a 1v7 FFA setting). Anyway, thank you for watching my videos and commenting! :)
3 years too late, but I'll chime in anyway: I think the crash is caused by having a lone berserked unit outside the walls, with no way to path towards another unit. It's exactly what happened in the last video's crash
MeKick, excellent video, thank you for taking the time to record it! I learned a lot it was very entertaining! I have one question. Do you think this challenge would be harder on a smaller map, like medium or small? On a smaller map, you will have: 1. A smaller area to harvest resources. 2. Less artifacts to build a strong heroes. Arties played a huge role on this run. 3. Less time to build up a decent army before they reach you. 4. They will build a reasonable sized army anyways.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) In my opinion, yes, this challenge would be much more difficult on a smaller map. I likely wouldn't stand a chance on a smaller map size because I would have nothing to farm to fight them with, lol.
@@TheKnownWorld Yes, this is why I was so intrigued with the "Barbarian breakout" map. They show up at your door steps in the first week with level 5+ creatures! I played this map way more than I would like to admit, probably over 50 times (though the runs were very short, usually less than 10 minutes). After learning so much from your videos I was able to beat Barbarian Breakout with Castle faction (my favorite), though not consistently, probably around 10-20% of the time. When they show up in 3-5 days I have no chance whatsoever, but sometimes, when there is a level 5-6 creature blocking the portal they go to the other side and give me 2 weeks to prepare, I win! :) Barbarian Breakout was sort of a "Siege Challenge" for me so I came right into this video and not only watched the whole 12 hours but also read 1,000+ comments! Took many "print screen" from many of your responses to take a better look later! I thought the Siege Challenge was much easier because you had a reasonable area to farm and they gave you a few weeks to build up a descent army. Also the XL map enabled a huge number of artifacts turning your hero into a super hero! Nevertheless it was not an easy challenge and Clavius had massive army, probably 1000x meatier than yours! Also it was alleviating to see you trying the battle a few times. I gave me permission to do the same! :) Man, you really take the time and answer to a massive number of comments! Plus you also give long thoughtful replies! I've never seen a youtuber doing that. However I wasn't really expecting a reply, since this is a very old video, Thank you sir! Keep sharing the love for this game to the world!
Here's a suggestion for the challenge after next: Classic. You play a game without loading any saves, or without redoing battle results-including Quick Combat. You basically live with the consequences of whatever happens. Or, if you like, you go with a life system. Say, only five loads in the whole game (including redoing combat results). If you lose after using up all five loads, game over. If you want, you can choose to continue after that, but you have to use a new hero altogether from the tavern.
But this is what I already do in my Let's Play Heroes III videos, excluding the Siege Survival Challenge. The main reason I even have Replayable Quick Combat on in the first place is to save time on the trivial fights.
he's already applying all of his decisions, even if a "fix" as in reload wouldve been quick. Heck when I play myself I save/load alot more so thats already pleasing
I have a great fondness for dungeon as it has really interesting units. I'd really like to see you wreck the AI with Scorpicores. I'm aware that as far as T6 units go they are some of the least powerful, but showing us how to use them efficiently would be great.
By "custom maps", I'm going to assume that you're referring to the Siege Survival as a random map challenge. I'm glad that you're enjoying this approach to the game! :)
@@TheKnownWorld after you got the Healm for angelic set you claimed you didn't have the shield to complete the set. But I guess the time between those 2 events was longer for you than it was for me. Awesome that you reply to comments on these older videos ,
Yup! I try my best to reply to comments whenever I can, regardless of whether they're on older videos or not. For older videos, I often have to refresh myself on what happened in that match, though. Thanks for the heads up on the Lion's Shield of Courage!
This bothered me so much I had to find out what happened. You actually lost it to a glitch when switching to a preset with a full backpack. Check your inventory from 1:29:13 through 1:29:25
It's all good! I wasn't too happy with the crashes in particular, but these are just mishaps that we have to deal with when playing good ol' Heroes III. I'll admit that finishing off with Armageddon and then fleeing was a pretty BM move from the AI, though. :'(
The AI can be a dick sometimes. Most times you can outsmart it and play it like a fiddle, but then sometimes the AI will just do some crazy stuff that will wipe out your army. The worst thing that my friends (friend) and I hate about the AI is the stragglers that just throw a magic arrow to kill like 5 small units, and then flee. It's the absolute worst
Well articulated. Like you said, the AI can be oddly unpredictable -- sometimes in a way that benefits you, and other times in a way that certainly does not. But yes, the "Magic Arrow to kill 5 small units" has always been a great way of getting players to show their appreciation for the AI. It seems to be a personal favorite for the AI, just to rub it in your face before they get out of there. :P
Oh wow! It sounds like you had a pretty fun time watching this match. Good on you for watching every second and not skipping past parts - that's reassuring to hear! :) Also, what's stopping you? ;D
I think you gave away some of your artifacts to some other heroes that you used for defending some towns. Maybe that’s why you didn’t have the necessary artifacts for the angelic allegiance.
He also forget he could get a good/neutral hero, and use them to get rid of scrolls/duplicate artifacts to start leveling secondary heroes to start defending towns earlier. I know he was dazed from fatigue and making choices, so its excusable.
Nice video MeKick. As many here I used to play h3 long time ago, but I've learnt so many things from your videos. I have 1 question regarding this video. When you saw you can upgrade the liches and it was "cheap" why didn't you go for it? Same with the skeletons?
The siege survival challenge was the most interesting/unique heroes 3 content I've seen in a long time! Thanks so much for putting it together. One question: What was the reasoning behind equipping the Armor of the Damned in the battle against the raid boss when he mass cured all the effects in round one anyway?
You're welcome! Thanks for watching -- it's nice to hear that you enjoyed the premise behind this match! I had a lot of fun playing it myself. :) You've asked a great question regarding Armor of the Damned. The honest answer is that when I first took the fight against Clavius, I didn't expect him to use Mass Cure. Had he not purged off Mass Slow from Armor of the Damned, it probably would have been the best item to equip for that battle. Even when Clavius used Mass Cure to counter Mass Slow, that ate up his spell cast for the first round and prevented him from using any other potentially devastating spells like Earthquake or Anti-Magic. In my opinion, that advantage alone made it worth equipping Armor of the Damned. Either way, I don't think that it would have made sense to reload and equip stat-boosting artifacts instead of Armor of the Damned after being armed with the knowledge that Clavius had Mass Cure.
Nostalgia indeed! It seems to me that a lot of people who played Heroes III haven't seen just how many others used to play the game as well. I think that it's impressive how many Heroes III fans still play the game, even to this day. :D
@TheKnownWorld The Problem with the Fights you were losing was that you used armor of the dead. So your setup was pretty much bad. After 1 Mass Cure from the Opponent what does army of the dead do for you? The Problem was the massive difference in Attack and Def Skill. Your Troops coudnt even fight back. But dont get me wrong: the Video and this Challange are completely awesome! Thanks for that!
Hmm, good point! Part of why I opted to use Armor of the Damned was to get them to use Mass Cure instead of some other spell on the first round, though. Even so, you might be right about the large difference in Attack/Defense Skill being a problem in those battles. I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge!
TheKnownWorld I mean a HUGE map my dude. I feel as though the additions to the Oceans have been neglected as well. Huge, islands? I think it'd be sweet.
Yes, and you did a few do-overs on first part. But I dont care, actually i enjoy watching your vids when its a bit harder then just "1 shooting the computer". So for me it was a pleasure watching this video.
A few do-overs, you say? I recall reloading only once in Part 1, and as I pointed out at the time, this was mainly because I was hoping to speed up the match. Ironically, as you said, you "enjoy watching my videos when it's a bit harder than just '1-shotting the AI'". During this episode, this is exactly why I let Clavius attack me when he was nearby in the first place. If I really wanted to secure a certain victory in the battle against Clavius, then I could have easily farmed the other AI players first before taking him on. But I don't think that would have made for nearly as interesting a final battle with the raid boss. If that constitutes a loss for you, then so be it. :P
I've been waiting for this! Thanks for making these awsome videos :) I've learned a lot watching these. Too bad I can't really watch your streams because it's too late :/ And just a quick question. I want to play multiplayer with my friend, but we got a message saying error connecting to session, but only with HD+ mod. With the normal game there is no such problem any idea? :/
lol, funny that you mention Unleashing the Bloodthirsty. That's the next map on my list and I was going to start playing it on my next stream. But harder than Wayfarer? Oh man!
Honestly i've been a bit let down by this one, cause all the many saves and reloads throughout the match felt a bit unfair. Still watched it all and still a fun playthrough tho.
You can tell you were so fed up with this map! :) Also, i find it funny that while the challenge was to survive sieging for 6 months, enemies seemed to send their best armies AFTER that period. Also, have you maybe considered playing HotA map where you have to survive 7 demon attacks? EDIT: This map is called "Beware of demons!" I believe
Oh my goodness. I was SO done with this map after a while. As of now, I haven't called it a night midway through any of my other Let's Play Heroes III videos (except for Tower, but that was due to a crash). :( I'm not sure if I'd go as far as saying that they sent their "best armies" after the first 6 months. Clavius was the true raid boss of Part 2, but I don't recall any of their other heroes having particularly strong armies relative to Part 1. I don't recall playing any HotA map where I had to survive 7 attacks by Demons. However, I have played From the Depths of Hell, and that involved getting attacked by 7 armies with a combination of different units.
You are absolutely correct, map i meant was indeed "From the Depths of Hell'. Since I didn't ever got myself to complete it, i thought all 7 armies will contain demons only, not mix of different units.
No, I'm afraid that it's not just Demons. The 7 armies contain a mix of various units including Familiars on the first wave to Dragons in some of the later stages. From the Depths of Hell is a lot of fun! I'd definitely recommend that map to those who are interested in a siege-style challenge.
Played very well but in some cases I didn't agree shared this to all my pals that play hero's 3 there better than me but I got a new strategy well played 👊
Thanks! I'm not quite sure how much earlier you mean, but indeed, I probably could've done a better job protecting my towns if I had properly developed my heroes and armies throughout the second half of the Siege Survival.
Really nice job for taking down that little pesky Clavius! I am just wondering, why did not he cast cure when Arc Devils have been blinded? It also showed how attack/defense of creatures affect the game. Arc Devils with zero defense went down pretty fast.
That's a good question! I'm not sure myself why Clavius didn't use Cure, but I recall hearing somewhere once that the AI doesn't seem to detect Blind as a debuff (and thus won't actively try and remove Blind from their units). Perhaps this has something to do with it. Indeed, Disrupting Ray played a huge part in making sure that the Arch Devils stayed down for good. Thanks for watching!
Even though this video is 2 years old, I have a question and I hope you (@theKnownWorld) can answer it, why didnt you upgrade to power liches? the 'Cloak of the Undead King ' makes the liches to power liches
Good question! When the Cloak of the Undead King revives the upgraded version of Undead units, it will only do so at two-thirds the effectiveness. In other words, if I were to arrange my army so that I would get Power Liches instead of regular Liches, I would only obtain 2 Power Liches for every 3 Liches that I would normally be getting. It's also much easier for me to maintain an army with just one stack of Liches rather than having one stack of Liches and one stack of Power Liches.
I did have a lot of fun with the Siege Survival! I also tore my hair out too, but let's not talk about that. ;) Actually, I streamed myself playing "From the Depths of Hell" last year, and I must say that the map was pretty freaking awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have the upload for it on my channel, but I'm not sure why.
Yo MeKick. Considering how you mention how dumb the AI can be sometimes, have you ever thought of hooking up the game with some kind of neural network learning software and just run simulations. It might make the AI better. It would be so cool to see you battle it out on equal, or near equal terms. Heck! Maybe it would even be better than you :).
great idea! thanks for uploading this challenge! what about playing this without using magic or what about an insane challenge without using artifacts or only recruiting slow units?
You're welcome! Thank you for watching the video :) A challenge where I don't use artifacts or where I only use "slow" units sounds interesting, but I already have several random map challenges lined up. Regarding playing the Siege Survival without spells, I think that this challenge is already tough enough as it stands *with* spells. To be honest, considering how much I struggled with the AI even into the late stages of the match, I don't think that any additional handicaps are necessary to facilitate an interesting match. :P
Hey MeKick, I know you're using the HD mod, but can you give a brief review of the shortcuts you use (like when you switch between artifacts or split armies)...or is there somewhere I can find them? Other than holding ctrl and clicking to split them up one by one. Thanks!
Hello! For a thorough overview of the hotkeys in the hero meeting screen, I think you'd be interested in this: sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/eng/description/extended-ui#SWAPMGR With the HD mod, the hotkeys for army management are: CTRL+Click creates a 1-stack ALT+Click groups up all units of the same type into one big stack SHIFT+Click splits a stack into two halves CTRL+SHIFT+Click fills all remaining empty slots with a 1-stack I hope this helps!
I started watching your content week ago. Good shit :D One question. How is named this utility mode which allow you to divide army so fast on groups of one?
This is a bit late, but kudos to moonkin111 for replying! With the HD mod, here is a full list of hotkeys for army management: CTRL+Click creates a 1-stack ALT+Click groups up all units of the same type into one big stack SHIFT+Click splits a stack into two halves CTRL+SHIFT+Click fills all remaining empty slots with a 1-stack I hope this helps!
@@TheKnownWorld would have been epic fight. He originally attacked you so when you loaded he HAD to attack you again so everything would play as it normally would.
You've had the Lion's Shield of Courage for the Angelic Alliance in the previous part, where did you lose it? Also I still don't get why did you keep a dimension door, town portal and some other scrolls when you have all 4 books available. In the first part you could've given all the resources producing arts to any hero and put him into the monastery. And as a last thing I think worth mentioning - Armour of the damned is a complete trash when you have such a powerful artefacts, the only thing you need from it is mass slow which is nothing, 1 cast round, which you trade for a ridiculous amount of stats..
Going over your comment’s points one by one: - I have no idea where the Lion’s Shield of Courage went, nor do I remember ever having this artifact in the first place. - I probably could’ve optimized my artifacts a bit better when I finished the first part of the Siege Survival Challenge, but I chalk this mistake up to fatigue for the most part. If I recall correctly, I eventually did equip the Tomes of Magic and I made sure to move the Spell Scrolls for Dimension Door and Town Portal to a secondary hero who would actually be capable of using them. - Others have pointed out that I could’ve moved the resource-producing artifacts to the hero that I put into the Sanctuary, but I obviously didn’t realize this at the time I was playing this match. My mistake. - I disagree vastly with Armor of the Damned being “complete trash” in the presence of stat-boosting artifacts. For one, I actually quite like the use of Curse, Weakness, and Misfortune from Armor of the Damned, even if their usefulness pales in comparison to Slow. Speaking of Slow, you stated that the “only thing I needed” from Armor of the Damned was Slow “which is nothing” - quite the contradiction, it seems, although I think that you were referring to how I could’ve just opened up battles with Slow as a first spell cast. Having said that, I have to disagree with this as well. Not having to use Slow on the opening round freed up my first round’s spell cast up for other useful spells instead, such as Berserk or Blind. Also, in the off chance that my opponent had Expert Cure or Expert Dispel, I could respond as needed with a spell cast of my own. In short, Armor of the Damned may not have given me as much in terms of raw stats as the Relic-class artifacts I had on Alamar, but I would argue that it was just as (if not more) useful.
TheKnownWorld The Lion's Shield of Courage disappeared from your inventory at 1:29:16 when you swapped to the Armor of the Damned configuration. The next time you looked in your backpack mere seconds later it is missing. You had 9 open spots in your backpack before the previous fights, gained 3 artifacts in the first fight, moved the orb of vulnerability in your backpack, and gained 6 artifacts in the second fight. The clover took the place of the orb in your side slots, so at that point your inventory was completely full with the shield in your hand. When you swapped the Armor of the Damned and Orb back in, three artifacts were lost because there was no room in your backpack left; the clover, Titans cuirass, and the Lion shield. That took longer that I care to admit for me to figure out.
You definitely got bored/tired near the end of this. )) That sequence of armageddons with no one hurt and those two 'do I have implosion? no i don't' about 3h37m with implosion sitting there nicely. )) Why didn't you visit the cartographer tower in the underworld?
Yes, I would agree with being tired towards the end of the game. By the match’s conclusion, I was pretty done with the challenge - 11 hours of gameplay on the same match took it right out of me, even if I did split it between two game sessions. :P Tired or not, I don’t know how I missed having Implosion in my Spell Book. However, I deliberately opted not to take the Cartographer since I usually consider it to be too overpowered for my liking. Also, I don’t want to look at all of the moves made by each remaining AI player at the end of every turn.
I admire your perseverance, sir. )) I can't even *watch* the complete episode in one go. )) If I may make a suggestion or two: when looking for something in a spell book the 'all schools of magic' tab might be conveninent. Also, it feels like you try to make everything look 'snappy': quick succession of moves/actions, mouse pointer dashing to and fro... Even in youtube's HD it's bit hard on eyes to track/watch (smudges etc.)... And it seems in such a hurry you tend to make those unnecessary mistakes...This ain't Starcraft 2, sir, give us more gravitas, please )) And thank you very much again ))
It takes a lot out of me, but I’d rather get it all done in one go if I can. :) Considering how we’re already able to filter spells by what school of magic they’re in, I’m not sure how the “all schools of magic” tab would be convenient. If you’re referring to how I missed Implosion, then it seems a bit redundant for me to check the Earth spells tab and then recheck all the spells that I have on my hero if I can’t find it. This was, I would like to think, a one-off mistake for the most part. Regarding me being too fast in my gameplay, I’ll try to keep that in mind. However, I do think it worth noting that I’ve seen more people complain in the past about me going too slow than me going too quickly. Anyway, you’re welcome. Thanks for the feedback!
