Yes, drugs have taken a toll on Caroline, but she is still the same kind and beautiful person she always has been. Caroline is one of the very few people on Skid Row who actually shows me some me kindness by giving me little gifts, like a box of yogurt she got from a feeding on the street the other day. Velanta has done this as well. Really sweet ladies, both of them. Caroline even gave me $1.50 in change a few weeks ago. This sounds like nothing, but to me it’s a big gesture of thoughtfulness. Caroline is still there mentally. I love that girl. There are a bunch of really beautiful people I’ve met. In addition to Caroline and Velanta, C Note, Reilly, Tiamat, Richard and Jerry are some of my favorite people I’ve met there. Honest, kind and dependable individuals all living in the snake pit called Skid Row. Thanks for watching. ML

CanelaThePup I’m not sure what exactly anyone can do for these people. The missions and others provide food, clothing, shoes and needles. It’s very dangerous (I’ve been robbed three times in the past three months). It’s dirty and so loud at times that you can hardly have a conversation with anyone on the street. I don’t know what exactly one can do that these individuals. What they need most they are unwilling to do for themselves. I’ve bought a bunch of people tents. That’s probably the most useful thing you could do for them.

Interesting comment. It's so odd, I'm so drawn to all these stories and mini auto biographies per say. It's funny cuz I've NEVER done any drugs, have a good job, but I'm obsessed with these stories. And t I noticed that it takes a small toll on me. I think about who ever was interviewed all day. There are lot of homeless people in my city and I just find every story fascinating, but I dnt brush off the stories easily. A small feeling is left lingering afterwards. I can only imagine how much worst it would be to listen to these stories face to face and meet these people

@@liabw05 The schizoid constellation comprises a number of typical symptoms, present in greater or lesser amounts, further mitigated through numerous indiosyncratic aspects of each case, the time of onset, the number of years, and of course the individual triggers. The easiest way to answer that question - employing Occams razor for the least-words-being-the-best - would go to the essense of the communication with God business. Think of what would happen igf the pipeline from experience to memory suddenly developed leaks - the continuity of your memory of the world around you and you as a part of it would become dislodged, and you would move forward but more and more influenced by inner, rather than outer, stimuli. The broad highway of your world would narrow, and your own thoughts would be magnified in relation to others. The schizoid personality can't do situational ethics .. they have complex rule structures they can get very OCD about and depending on the severity, become paranoid, thinking themselves to be more important as against their surroundings. This cany allowing them to contextualize the feeling by associating their inner "certainty" with messages fro God or, in extreme circumstances, actually being God. That having been said, three major world religions, Judaism, Christianty, and Islam have the origins in a Moses, a leader who spoke to a burning bush, Paul, who fell off his donkey transfixed by a vision under the burning sun, and a Mohammad, a seeker dealing with sensory deprivation in a cave where he talks to an angel. Who's to say - how about the insomniac dyslexic metaphysician up all night pondering the existence of "Dog" "

Lisa M p.s. addictions are caused by childhood trauma, usually sexual and/or seeing something very traumatic. The dopamine and seratonin receptors stop working properly and the drugs/alcohol temporarily raise those in the brain, which creates the addiction. One of the problems with these substances is in higher amounts of alcohol or strong drugs like heroine or cokaine is they raise it higher than normal then the person feels even more depressed after the high of it comes down and searches after feeling “normal” and amazing again. A lot people also feel like-when it’s still in the “good” stage before they crash from being too drunk or high on those drugs is that they feel they can think through things more clearly. This is because when dopamine and seratonin are chronically low it can be too painful (literally) to really think through their issues, or they get stuck on the wrongs done to them, on repeat in a ptsd kind of way. I hope this is somewhat helpful in understanding where your son is coming from and I really hope you guys find a treatment that works well for him AND brings him healing. Please tell him there are people out there that understand him and what he feels and wish him hope and healing

I never thought of the reasons why, like how you explained it. Because of my PTSD, constantly pannicing and worrying,, I find it very hard to be happy naturally, but alcohol has at least helpd me know I'm capable of feeling strong and happy.. but I know I gotta cut down, I try to, I will keep trying. Its extremely rare for somebody in this stage of addiction to get out of it, shes talking about masturbating at an intersection because someone “took something important from her” selling your body to strangers for years will leave you with no self esteem i can only imagine, i stole lied and cheated for the better part of 8 years (im a man so i really couldnt sell myself) and that robbed all my self esteem so i can only imagine selling your body how low it can get
@Here4TheHeckOfIt
@Here4TheHeckOfIt 11 месяцев назад
When she said "someone took something very important to me" it was almost like her memory travelled back to when she was sexually abused as a child. She said in the first video that the town she lived in treated her poorly because she told the cops about the abuse. They didn't believe her and years later, the same man was arrested for sexually abusing his own children. That experience will just shatter a person's worth and sense of safety. She said when she smoked heroin, it was the first time she didn't feel bad - or anything at all. She has been trying to escape the torment inside her since. She grew up in Newport Beach, then Fountain Valley and that's a pretty wealthy enclave in Orange County. This kind of trauma happens everywhere and it is just so damaging to society. They should really come down hard on child molesters.

Addicts are only trying to cope with a pain deep inside them. When asked what does the addiction give they usually say a feeling of happiness, love, belonging with other addicts, quietness etc etc. these things in themselves are good things achieved in a very unhealthy way. @Soft White Underbelly A poem I wrote for, and dedicate, to Caroline: “Skid Row” Raised in darkness, forged in hate, Our cards unfairly stacked, Here we've come to pay it down For Black and Crack, To heal our hurts, boosting, roosting On San Julian for a fence, Chasing highs - $150 a day. Frail and broken souls surround me, I am one. Dirty, meager clothes enwrap These weathered frames, Old before our time, Daylight zombies, midnight loners - Sickness, fear our common fund. My children, please forgive me, I love you still. But where is Jesus on the street? Across the way the yuppies know him well Who go to church and spend their days on yachts and in cafes, But I have never seen him here. Meanness, want, and strife is my reality. No God above, God’s the Drug in me, The Devil on the Street, The living liquid in my veins, To dull the memories, pain, regret, From abuse, neglect, and hate. To rise again, be clean We reach - for resurrection from this living death, Always, ever beyond our reach. Waking trips into astral space I have known, And back to filthy sidewalks, Nights in urban tents. Shivering, aching, cold. Sickness needs its medicine 'til the end To escape unfeeling - to be insensate, still, at peace. The philosopher said it well: “Death is nothing to us.” I thank the stars every day for this cancer That eats my insides to end my pain In this my home, my family, and my life - The soft white underbelly of the world.

Through her psychosis it seems as though the only way she knows how to explain her mental state & reality is through metaphors (it seems like when she speak it all blends together so it may not entirely make sense to some people). In the end when she was talking about being murdered multiple times especially dying every time she fell asleep that really hit home. My anxiety disorder often makes me feel like I'm about to die in my sleep, I know it's not true, I know I'm safe at home with my spouse. But seeing Caroline in this 9 year follow up it breaks my heart, because with long term drug addiction + mental disorders it can definitely make things worse & takes its toll, I see how much she suffers. Disclaimer: I'm a recovering addict myself, I'm currently taking anti anxiety medication for the first time in my life & it's like waking up from a nightmare, I'm so happy to be free, I don't want to be on it forever (unless I need to), but so far it's been helping me clear my head & not be stuck on all the negativity. These interviews are some of the saddest and most interesting stories I've ever heard. By allowing them to tell their story you are validating people who have been brainwashed to believe that they are invalid. These people matter, they have experienced so much trauma, so much injustice their entire lives. As a childhood trauma survivor I empathize with parts of each story shared. I was on my way to prison or homelessness but God intervened and I got jail and drug court and because of being saved while in jail my life did a 180 and the trajectory changed. That was almost 8 years ago. I now have a church, a home, a husband and a daughter and most recently a dog. I want to live and I feel joy most of the time instead of waiting to die. I have a healthy family and have severed all contact with unhealthy family, including my own mother. My daughter's life is the complete opposite of what I experienced in childhood and I thank God for that every single day. We can break the chains of trauma for the next generation by confronting our own and saying that it stops here. It's easy to point at addicts, prostitutes or homeless people and say that we are the problem. To prove that someone is a pedophile, rapist, emotional abuser, neglectful or violent person is incredibly difficult because it's easy to hide those sins in the dark. Thank you for shining the light of truth and allowing these resilient souls to educate us.

@@boxelderinitiative3897 it's pretty one sided & close mlm indeed to say she is a "monster". She was a human. Had a despicable life. Her grand father who she lived with was a pedophile, her father was also. Her grandmother abused her psychically. She left. Was homeless in the woods. Started prostituting to take care of herself as a teen. She was not a "monster". She was a product of her environment! She didn't stand a chance in life! Her first victim raped her brutally. She fought back & shot em. After that she couldn't get back right & "work" normally. She was human too! "Monster" is pretty extra.

For all the people who try to wright her off as psychotic From a sane fully functioning non dependent human: She really not talking complete jibberish. She may be slightly off but what she is saying really pertains to a real subject. She is talking about energy being trapped or taken from the body. This really does happen through emotional trauma and emotional healing (energetic) release. People who do drugs aren’t just crazy, they mostly likely can actually tap in to these layers of our world that we cannot easily see or go to. It takes being at a different frequency and an alteration in brain chemistry to actually see in to these hidden worlds around us. Most people are happy with just believing in only this reality and taking things only for face value without delving deeper into the inner workings of our world and our human machine. She is deemed to be out of her mind by you because you are trying to listen to something for which you have no previous input. Its hard to explain things about our energetic selves, omnipresence, and the things we cant always see. Just because we don’t understand completely does not mean we are superior or have a superior understanding of this world we all live in. We are all one and if you don’t see yourself in this woman you should work on raising your consciousnesses and dropping the ego.

I don’t think people realize that many drug addicted people are intelligent. Most of us have tragedy in our lives, or major unresolved issues...... dangerous combination. Many bright people have thought processes that are very difficult to switch off. It always starts out as self-medicating for conditions we don’t even know that we have. I had a lot of fun in the beginning but nothing but misery later.... man am I glad to be sober.

Her original video was one of the firsts I ever watched on your channel, I cannot believe this is the same woman. Drugs rip you in half, tear you to shreds and you’re left trying to piece yourself back together and unfortunately by that time the only pieces that are left are the ones that aren’t you anymore. Sadly this is her case.

People will call her crazy but what she is describing is real, it’s a glimpse of hell. She is infested with demons, she is really tapped into the spiritual realm and is being tormented. My father was mentally ill hearing voices and very depressed, was on the couch for 10 years straight at one point, we had a family friend who was a pastor come see him once and he asked what would the voices say, I remember hiding in the hallway listening and my father said there constantly screaming at him negative stuff and sometimes speak in weird language, he said one of the words they would often say to the pastor, I remember him pausing and just started praying over my dad. After he prayed he told my mom that those words are from some sort of language demons speak in. My pops would later go on to commit suicide in the middle of nowhere only to have a police officer drive down a road to find his lifeless body with both wrists cut and artery in neck sliced. The officer said he never patrols this area but felt the urge to, he ended up saving my dads life. My father never believed in God throughout all of this, my mom always has and I wanted to believe. Sorry I’m rambling now but I say all to say this...my dad one day gave Jesus a chance and from there on things started getting better slowly, long story short he ended up being healed through Christ and becoming the best grandpa “poppy” that you could imagine. He had pure joy in him I mean the purest love you can think of when he had my and my siblings kids around. He ended up being snatched away from the Devil and blessed with peace, love and purpose for his final years of life! The devil and his demons are real but so is God and God is the answer for all these lost souls. Amen Something I forgot to tell is my father was terribly abused as a kid and resorted to drugs/alcohol just like most of these stories.

Thank you Cory for sharing that. I gave my life over to Christ in 2006 and it was the best decision of my life. I have a past that tried to kill me and ended up waking up everyday angry that I was waking up. I hit bottom and a sweet neighbor lady told me I need to read the Bible I didn't know what else to do so I did and my life slowly became better and my mind and heart were healed. I do not shove religion in people's face but I do tell them what worked for me. I feel like I have a responsibility to let them know that this world and everyone in it can let you down take advantage abuse you take away all your trust and joy but if you build a relationship with God you have things th8s world can't take. You have things money can't buy. You will have a peace that does not depend on what the world has done or not done it is a peace more real then anything this world can give u. God bless Cory and God bless your family

her mom was schizophrenic. I think she is too. drugs do take a toll, but she has a serious psychiatric disorder she has no control over. Her references to "they take, control, body, screaming, robot" etc. seem to be in response to her mental symptoms, like she knows she's altered & wants the bad thoughts/voices out of her head & body. It is likened to ER videos when people have an insect inside of their ear. They exhibit many of the same behaviors(yelling, hitting, obsessive thoughts, erratic movements) etc as do a lot of mental health/addicts. Go Figure . . .
