I enjoy every trip to Hersheypark Arena but never knew it as the Bears home as I didn't start watching hockey until 2008. I'll never forget all the times I saw Disney on Ice from way above when I was a kid. I'm sure a lot of people have fond memories of other events.
I was at that game. The "FAREWELL OLD BARN" sign was mine. ABC27 actually interviewed me, but I guess it didn't make the cut :( Sure do miss watching the Bears play there. Great memories. They should still play a game or two there a year for old times sake.
@@JustMyClassics it depends on weather or not the cubs decide to be awake for the game but for the most part they’re pretty good Edit: also my family’s on their “billet list” (player housing) so we get two free tickets to their home games
Petty good quality but the Cubs did struggle quite a bit last year. Might have just been the games I went to but it looked like more fights or scuffles than the Bears. But hey it's a $10 ticket to see a game in a very historic building. But the atmosphere isn't anything like a Bears game.
Love the vid, but technically, this game wasn't the last at the old barn. The last game took place on May 3rd in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Bears lost to the Houston Aeros, 7-1. Houston ended up sweeping Hershey that year.
Pretty cool that it’s at least the practice facility of the Bears. Better than having it imploded. But yeah, it brings back great memories when Christian Matte, Serge Aubin, J.F. Labbe, Marc Denis, Phillip Sauve and David Aebischer and Mike McHugh etc played in here back when the Hershey Bears were known as the Baby Avs.
It's also used for Is Lebanon Valley College's hockey program and an US Premier Hockey League team called the Hershey Cubs and hosts hockey tournaments and public skating.
That was the last regular season game but there was playoffs after that. I actually went to the last game And it was like in the 90s outside. There was a fog over the ice the whole game. Good times
