Represented world wide by Harry Potter was a reference to our prime minister at the time looking like Harry Potter. And yeah, you can ask a junky for a bike. Specifically in larger cities that are populated by a lot of students. Pay a junky 10 euro's and he'll steal a bike for you. It's a vicious cycle, because the person whose bike got stolen will do the same thing basically. It's also mostly cheap bikes, because they get stolen so often. And the cheap bikes are the ones where people hardly care about them (because they paid 10 euro's for it themself probably). So those aren't locked properly.

They sing this song in 2005, so this is 16 years ago and hiphop was then 30 years old in the netherlands 😂

Hip hop was around in the Netherlands in the 80s. Osdorp posse was the first group to go Dutch with it. They started out making rap over a metalband and later on would be more traditional with a dj. They started in 89 and quit in 2009. I've seen them live in 2007. They were great.

This song always gets me. But you need to know the people and things they sing about to really know what it's about. Like Pim Fortuyn was a politician that was murdered by Folkert van der G. And Muhammed B murdered Muslim critic Theo van Gogh. The Netherlands is a rich country because of our history with the VOC, where we plundered countries and used slaves. So it's about our (dark) history and our quirks (like being cheap), but in the end being proud to be Dutch. And that's exactly how I feel too 😊

Really I discovered Nate 2 pack black moon and rakeem krs one etc etc .I think around 1991...our first dutch rap group was Osdorp posse...for me best is The opposites early 2000 and opgezwolle.
