This is one of Marco's earlier hit songs... Before he went the safe route and became the "ballad king of the Netherlands" with a never ending string of sweet romantic and dramatic ballads.. I always loved this style more.. and this has always been my favorite song by him ! And this live performance tops all the rest !!

Borsato broke through as a singer after he won the Soundmix Show on April 7, 1990 with his rendition of Billy Vera's song "At this moment". From 1990 he released three Italian-language albums. In 1994 he switched to Dutch songs (many of which have been translated from Italian).

I was there in person. One of the best concerts I ever attended. Such energy. Simply amazing!

Marco Borsato used to win Best Male Singer awards every freaking year. It really wasn't a surprise anymore. lol

Fun fact: during the sax solo you see Marco walk past his bass player (red shirt, black vest). His name is Giovanni Caminita and he actually has two complete different carreers: apart from being a musician he is a TV-chef and has his own Italian restaurant in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel (village in the province of Zuid Holland).

If you're looking for a spectacle Marco will deliver! I think the greatest shows are the ones that go through the whole spectrum: from soft, gentle, even mellow songs to the powerful, almost aggressive ones and the whole range in between. Marco is one of those artists that can do that.

Believe this was Symphonica in Rosso. A series of concerts where a whole orchestra was on stage. Every year a different artist was the centre of these concerts. Anouk f.e. did the same. But also international artists like Lionel Richie and Sting.

Here's a little backstory on the band. Before they were backing Marco Borsato they were a metal band called "Robby Valentine" (Look up their songs "Over and over again", "Mega man" and "Love takes me higher") But they came around in the early nineties when Grunge was taking over and even an Endorsement by MTV VeeJay Adam Curry couldn't save the band from going under. Robby Valentine decided to leave his own band and go live in Japan (Where to this day he's still a major star.) Marco Borsato who back then had a dip in his own career decided to take Valentine's place and have the band give his songs a much harder edged sound. It was a winning formula. They are basically a metal band singing in Dutch.

If I'm right, this was the first Symfonica in Rosso concert of a total of 10 anual concerts starting in 2006. I really like (and still watch it over and over tbh) the Italiaanse Medley (Italian Medley) , also a part of this concert. To me, this edition remains at the best edition. But that's maybe because it was new at that moment.

I was at that concert, it was fantastic, not knowing that the song would later apply to my life, the song was about my marriage, I said to my ex husband, if I put this song on my Hyves then you will know that it will never happen again. everything will be fine 🤣, I'm much happier now than I was then 🤪

Oh god......the irony I feel when I hear this song now. Did his wife play this song when she sent him packing? (he cheated on her and there were rumors it was with a number of ladies). Like most early Borsato songs, this is actually a Dutch language cover of a Riccardo Cocciante song in Italian. It's a very recognisable Cocciante song. The original song is called Cervo a primavera (io rinascerò). Being brought up in the eighties, the haydays of Cocciante, I prefer the Italian original song to this one.
