Hi Barry, thanks for the review. We'll look into why the hex heads don't fit the aluminium profiles. We added these bolts to the baseplate some time after the initial release specifically to make installation easier, but it appears the wrong spec/lenght may have been packed.

It would be great if you offered polyurethane springs to sprint pedals, at least as an upgrade (like fanatec do with clubsport v3).

 Ian Longley I like polyurethane more than rubber, from my point of view it feels more natural (by leg... more like racing car brakes). So I'd like to buy polyurethane springs instead rubber for my HE Sprint. So I suggest HE to begin to make this upgrade for sprint pedals :). Fanatec sells this springs upgrade for 30 eur... I'd like to pay 70 for HE ).

What a credit Barry is to the community. As usual a tremendous video. All serious manufacturers should be dropping off Kit for Barry to review. People could then spend serious money in confidence, the manufacturer seeing sales increase. A win/win/win.

Mr Sim Racing Garage - not only am I impressed by your Documentary like "silky smooth voice", but I am ALWAYS fascinated to get such a behind the scenes look at such professional quality sim-racing hardware --- that I could argue --- I can't see almost anywhere else on RU-vid? But I must admit that after your spectacular sounding Intro, from around 0:17 onwards, getting a "behind the scenes" view of your toilet plumbing hardware in the background - is not quite what I had in mind, hahahaha ; )))) But keep up these awesome Reviews just the same. thankyou Barry

Washers are the sim racer's friend. The ultimate baseplate has the same mounting "issue". But to be honest, I didn't experienced it as an issue. Since I built myself custom rolls with noise-dampeners on top, I was used to this kind of screws. And of course thanks for this once again extensive review Barry!

I would like to say that I am grateful to you Barry for these videos. They offer a deep dive into best practices and offer detailed product information regarding breakdown, assembly, and adjustments not offered anywhere else, including the manufactures owner's manuals. I do wish that Barry would be slightly more critical regarding the product negatives. I do agree with Barry about the HE Sprints having some design flaws, such as the standoffs for the pedal tray's threads not being tapped down far enough. This causes enough of a gap between the tray and the standoffs, even with the suggested washers used (both in the manual & Barry). This is a minor nitpick but enough of one that causes owner's to do additional work to correct or just put up with the minor imperfection. I see several other opportunities for Heusinkveld to improve upon that cropped up during my installation. These being said I feel that for their price point it is a good product and I am satisfied with their overall useability as being the benchmark pedal set to own by the sim racing community. They are highly desirable and sought after product. If not upstaged by another company's product, they should maintain their resale value. I give them four out of five stars rating (4/5). 1) In order for all of the pedals to be of similar alignment, the Throttle Pedal must be moved all the way forward and then backed off slightly so as not to get hung up on the stainless steel pedal tray back lip when depressed. I would like to see the grooves on the backplate be shorted in the front to prevent this rubbing. Similarly, the Clutch and the Brake pedals must be moved to the furthest adjustment to the rear of there slots just to be in line with the Throttle Pedal. Even with using this maximum range of adjustment, I am unable to line up all three pedals all the way. I would like to see them do so with future revisions of the schematics and production. 2) The type of steel used to make the pedal brackets themselves (and possibly other components) is a very MILD type of steel. It is quite malleable and it is very easy to bend the material by hand (I'm not a very strong guy either!). All of the pressure on these parts happen on the z-axis, so conversely when assembled the Throttle, Break, and Clutch appears rigid enough to withstand the forces applied to them. Nonetheless, I would either like to see Heusinkveld use better quality steel or even go back to using stainless steel as a building material. It would be interesting to see if any warpage due to structural failure occurs overtime or not. Had I known of the mild steel, I would of more likely than not of chosen the Meca Cup pedals instead, but I preferred the integrated control box of the HE Sprints, as Meca's control box is separately mounted. 3) I agree with Barry regarding the method of securing the pedals to the sim rig itself. I would also like to see additional hight built into the bottom pedal rails, so as to be more readily accessible to using the standard fastener of choice, socket head bolts. A cutout above the area would be one way of doing this.

Had these pedals for 2 weeks now. Huge move from Logitech but I heard good things over the Fanatec V3 and they're really nice. Takes a while to get used to a load cell but once you have it calibrated and dialled into your personal taste, really liking them. Heel plate is quite awkward, and it took some times to get myself into a comfortable position

To fix that little wiggle problem, I would use a socket wrench to tighten the standoffs and use a spanner to hold those gripping washer nuts. Don't turn the nuts, turn the standoffs. Let the nuts dig into the painted steel; if you turn the nuts, they'll scrape off the paint and the steel will be exposed to moisture. If there are plenty of washers leftover, I would use those washers between the standoffs and the painted steel. Everything will be tight and should last a time. ☺👍

Great review, I just (Dec 2022) bought the sprint pedals and the base plate. Had a nightmare with the base plate. That metal foot rest rattles like hell. I had to use 8 of those little washers (2 per hex screw) but for the price of this stuff I wouldn’t have thought I’d have been needing to do that.

@HeusinkveldEngineering
@HeusinkveldEngineering 5 лет назад
We currently release a production run 3-4 times per month on Fridays. We do no longer sell out within minutes, the last time it took around 48hrs. Demon Tweeks gets a fixed allocation of pedal sets every month, and although I cannot say this with certainty I think they most of the time should be able to deliver within 4-6 weeks. Our production has grown a lot since last year to the point where we rapidly ran out of space. In a few weeks we'll get additional workspace which will increase our assembly/storage/office space by 3 times. This should help us to increase production even further.

The down and dirty solution to the pedal mounting problem, for me, would be to take a cut-off wheel and cut down the allen wrench to a stubbie length. Sometimes a little custom tool is the best solution.

For some reason during callibration throttle and clutch get reversed. They read good initially until I try to callibrate then they switch. I tried to plug them to the opposing socets to no avail.Any idea what might be going on?

Thank you Barry. I can afford these but vs the Fanatec V3s, is it worth it? Price vs performance wise. It’ll cost me twice the V3s for the 2 pedal set and plate to get them shipped to Japan. The V3 inverted would be a little cheaper. Thoughts?
@RuudK.
@RuudK. 5 лет назад
Although my name is not Barry, I can tell you my shift from Fanatec to Heusinkveld made me sell the Fanatec in a few days. I was sceptical too but am so glad I took the leap. The quality, the adjustability, the durability; it's all a level higher. Don't get me wrong: Fanatec sell some good stuff... Heusinkveld is better though (imho). I guess it all depends on what you are willing to spend on your hobby. My advice: if you can afford it, do so. You won't be disappointed.
@RuudK.

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention but is important to bring out: Heusinkveld's customer support is out of this world. I have been helped by them, far more than I could have dreamt. There are few companies on that level.
@davidclem5887
@davidclem5887 5 лет назад
Ruud Kuijer Thank you! I’ll probably go in that direction since it’s between the V3 inverted and the Heuskinvelds. Now I have to decide between a Fanatec 2.5 or direct drive. But, a direct drive will be twice the price before shipping to Japan. LOL

I have not had an opportunity to review the Ulitmate. I don't comment on products I have not had in my hands. I can say this. For a long time my prefered wheelbase has been the SS2 54G . Based on the systems I have tested to date, I don't see that changing.

really surprised they didnt use carriage bolts for the pedal mounts. would have been the way to do. put the nuts on top and never need to get to the bottom.
@adamperkins3125
@adamperkins3125 4 года назад
So if you mounted the pedals before the heel rest you could get to the underneath from the front it looks like?
@simracinggarage3026
@simracinggarage3026 4 года назад
Yes. Still, with the pedals mounted to your rig it would be a bit fiddley to get a wrench on the nuts because of the short height clearence. There are other ways to access them. if you have an 80/20 rig you could mount to some longitudinal profiles and have room to access the nuts from underneath. I'm sure we could think of some other ways also.

Hi Barry, I have the Ultimates but barley use the brake capacity (around 60kg for me). I'm planning to downgrade to the sprints to take advantage of the HE smart software. Do you think this is a good idea?
@simracinggarage3026
@simracinggarage3026 4 года назад
Yes, the Utimates are amply named. They can put stress on your ankle, knee and hip joints even at lower levels. I sold mine because of this. I'm much more comfortable with a brake pedal with lower force settings and more travel range. Which makes driving more fun. But this is subjective. Others may disagree.

Seems like the Pros and the Ultras are much more thought through when it comes to adjusting and mounting. Also the pedal plate for Pro and Ultra is easier to work with.
@menacegtr
@menacegtr 5 лет назад
Agree, as a Pro user i would think the sprints would be a lot harder to adjust on the cockpit as barry suggested. I have a Simlabs P1 so i would need to take the whole pedal cradle out to make adjustment, impossible, no but a lot harder i feel
@NielsHeusinkveld
@NielsHeusinkveld 5 лет назад
@@menacegtr Its a little harder but once the angles are dialed in, you don't really need to adjust that anymore. The other adjustments are all fairly doable with the pedals installed on a rig.
