My name is Barry Rowland. I am a Sim Racing enthusiast that has been doing this for a long time. In my early years just out of school, I campaigned a Datsun 510 in the SCCA. I had to stop due to expenses. So, I took up Sim Racing to provide me with my racing fix. Of course, nothing will ever replace racing a real car. But for me this will have to do. I now do reviews on Sim Racing Hardware. I love to see how things are built. Materials used, build quality, and of course how they perform. I developed the SRG process that all review material must go through. Giving you as much detail as I can. It is the only way I know to let you make the most informed decision possible on purchasing Sim Racing gear. I used to buy the items I review. Due to my own budget constraints, I have recently been allowing manufacturers to send me an item at no cost to me for review. However, they still go through the same detailed SRG review process, something I could not compromise on.
It would be nice if someone brings out a kit to reduce the stiffness with at least those ball bearings...as well as a different table clamp where it's not on top of the table, but rather a bit lower and off the end of the table Fanatec style. The combination of incredibly stiff shifts and being so high up and far away means I have to lean forward to shift and damn near take out my shoulder in the process
Would you say these were comparable to the cheap ali express simjack pedals? I've had them for a while and I'm kinda looking for something a bit better.
Hi. Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of picking the DD up for my flight sim. Could you tell me the available space between the two tubes (width) of the pedal base? It looks like it's a little wider than the pedal base itself which could make a big difference for me. Thanks!
Thank you - this is the only place I've found the removable leg cushion shown in detail! I'm wondering if it will be an obstruction if mounted to a rig in formula seating position
I think the most shocking thing here, other than your monitors not being mounted to the motion platform so that they properly move with you(or, even more shocking, the fact that you're using monitors rather than VR) is that you're using a belt driven Thrustmaster wheelbase. Anyway, thanks for the video. I'll be buying mine soon enough.
Hi Barry, hope all is well. Miss your vids. They were always very well done. If you have moved to Flight sims, would you post vids of your flights. I know you have an audience here that appreciates your view.
i love your old school approach taking time to dissemble units. Now Logitech have finally brought out a pro shifter/handbrake combo and wheel hubs id value your opinion before purchasing
I started with an Apex wheel stand and later added the Apex rear seat frame with the RS-12 seat. I have an Asetek Forte wheel base and the Asetek Pagani pedals. I modded the pedal plate by removing the adjustable slides and bolting it directly to the frame so it's flat and way more stable. It fits like they knew someone would try doing that for that purpose. The only flex I get is on braking over 50kg and half of that is the seat...probably about half an inch of movement upward. I don't perceive any sideways flex either but I only run my wheel base at 12Nm. I use the rubber feet that came with it instead of the casters. I am on carpet as well and I think that has some part in the flexing. I am able to mount a Thrustmaster TH8a and the Moza SGP sequential shifter on that shifter plate with the th8a on the inside. I added the GT Omega handbrake mount designed for another one of their rigs to the rear seat frame and have the Moza HBP handbrake on it. I've added 6 Dayton bass shakers, 4 on the corners, one under the pedals, and one under the seat. I used 2 VESA mounts designed to hold small pc's on the back of a monitor to hold the front 2 bass shakers on the "A pillars". Topped it all off with 2 wind sim fans mounted on the cross bar. You can do a lot with this thing.
Thank you for taking this thing apart!! I took mine apart to replace the angle sensor and I forgot which one plugged in where, you saved me a headache💪🏼💪🏼😃
please help me , i just got this t248 product in india and there is no service center here .. the buttons and display on the wheel do not work , can you help me to fix the wheel myself please?
Hi Barry, thanks for your videos! Do you have any experience with the Universal Hub and the Force Feedback on the Fanatec DD1 Wheel Base? Does it work? Thank you very much Alex
I have watched this video 10000 times,I have realised where the problems are with this system,a problem that also occurs in other actuators,it is useless to keep saying that the brain must be deceived I am ready to build my own simulator :-)
Muchas gracias
I have an RSeat A1 GT-120 cockpit and the handbrake mount is designed to have an adjustable angle so you can swing out the hand brake for your comfort.
I haven't tried this yet but the button mode should be work for the parking brake function in Euro and American Truck Simulators. Too bad there's no optional latch that could lock the brake on for this use. Still, it would act as a toggle in this mode.
