Thank you terry glad i found you. I am getting started and trying to figure out what to get.. so far ive only built 2 dipoles,

Dipoles are hard to beat. Try to keep the old antenna when you build a new antenna and compare them one to the other with an antenna switch. It is easy to kid yourself into thinking the new antenna is better when it is not. Being able to do an on-the-air A/B test removes all doubt.

At ZL4AI located in Southern New Zealand: I found a Hex Beam on 20m at 14m with an SFI of >150 gives a signal of 2 to 4 (sometimes 5) S points more than an ZL4AI-N4GG array when listening to Signal from England which is 19,000K away on the other side of the planet . For the same conditions transmitting into The Hex Beam with 25 watts gives signal reports from England of 5/7. There is no doubt the Hex Beam provides remarkable results. SFI conditions are an important factor. Can you please report what the SFI were at the time of your video ?

Great presentation. Even I have used different antennas. Like Dipole, G5RVs, 2 Ele Triband Cubical Quad, Cobweb, End fed antenna and Mini Hex beam covering 6,10,12 and 15m bands. Personally I feel quad out performs. Thank you once again enjoyed your presentation. DE VU2USA

Traffie was not one of the manufacturers at HamCation in Orlando. Nice looking HexBeam.

Should build a KY6G yagi and test it against the hexbeam!

How did you like the hex vs the c4 for dx and contesting ? You have a wonderful tower setup

Hi, Jay. The C4 is often 5 S units stronger than the Hex Beam. The C4 is hands down the better antenna for DX. Note, I ultimately installed the Hex on a 25-foot mast on the shop. It now has the advantage of the lower height and higher angle of radiation associated with that height making it sometimes better for state-side contacts.

@@oltredding absolutely! I just finished a book about tribanders. The c3,4 c31xl all performed much better than any other beam. I agree the hex is a great domestic antenna. It’s hard to beat a long boom yagi for dx at 70ft or so.

Hi maybe you can help me. Im in doubt to buy a HexBeam or Momobeam Tri 7 or even a Cubical Quad 2 elements ( 5 band ) About your comparison and since than what can you tell me about Hexbeam or the Yagi ? I know we love all our antennas, just trying to understand and try to help my choice.

I had a two-element, five band GEM Quad. It was my all-time favorite antenna. I was tempted to put another one up. However, my desire for at least two elements on 40 meters caused me to use a Force 12 C4. It is excellent. I have a complete write-up and comparison of the HexBeam to a G5RV, a 3 element tri-band Yagi, and this Force12. All of that information is on my QRZ page. Just look for W6LMJ/ I am not familiar with the Momobeam Tri 7, so I can't comment on that. If after visiting my QRZ page you still have questions, I would be happy to respond.

Depending on your geographical location and weather. I would recommend the tri 10 momo. Light weight for what it is and withstands high winds very good compared to the quad. Don’t get me wrong, the quad was my favorite beam as well but just didn’t last very long in our windy climate.

Thanks for posting, Terrance. Consider getting a better microphone for your videos.. The one you used sounds way too bassy and muffled, no highs. Highs are where all the intelligence is.

You are right. Note the other videos have better audio. I am not sure why this one turned out so hollow?
