2024 here... Reminiscing to this song from 1993. I was newly divorced in 1992 and i think this song gave me the guts to not settle for the typical Prince Charming type of relationship. I was 24 then.. now im almost 55. Ive done well.
One of the purest talents in country music. Nothing today compares to this amazing woman, and the clarity of her voice, singing top-notch lyrics. Please give us more!!
Heard this song today, first time in quite a while. Still, this song brings tears to my eyes, both for its beauty of the musical composition, as well as the bittersweet (or rather, sad) message of the song.
I went to Country Music television and this was on in 1993-1994 And I was transfixed. And Ive heard it live and it made me whoop with joy. 21 years later. And I got to meet you. Ah bliss.

I absolutely love this beautiful song “from years ago “ Hey Cinderella “ beautifully done ! Does the shoe 👠 fit you now 👏🕊😊”now this is country music 🎶
Love Suzy. Great pure clarity in her voice. Saw her in concert way back in the 90s she we as great. Where has country music gone!? Yes I love a lot of the new country but just isn't the same as the 80s and definitely the 90s
Thanks Suzy! Your videos were always playing every early morning on CMT during the 1990s as I headed for school. It was always pleasant to hear your voice and music before starting the day. Even now, listening to them brings back so many memories and puts me in a nostalgic pleasant mood.
the golden age of cmt. the golden age of TNN-(before it went south in 2000)-the golden age of local country music radio. watch both CMT and TNN on early Saturday mornings in the early 1990's while doing drafting homework with a fresh brewed cup of coffee.
This song was back when I was trying to get in the music biz in Nashville. Back then it was so hard to get in. I finally got a break from a producer who sent a plane ticket, but it reeked of cologne smell when I got it in the mail. I may have missed my chance, but I wasn’t that kind of girl & I let that man know. I stayed in Texas, never made it big but had some good times opening shows for stars and Miss America of 1997. I’m 44 now. But listening to today’s country music, I’m actually glad i stayed in Texas. No regrets. I sang a lot of Suzy’s songs. Mainly because she was such a REAL talent among all the fakes. ;) Where has the music of the 90’s went? Because everything on today’s radio is trash, sad to say.
My mother used to sing this to me while listneing to the radio. she died in 97. I listen to it just to see her face singing and dancing with the broom. Good memories.
this song reminds me of my beautiful grandmother Christine Andrews, who was the most beautiful grandmother and my grandad David Cooper, they both loved country music, we are from Bournemouth, England, Rest in peace to my beautiful grandparents. Also, my other beautiful grandmother Mary Bingham from Kilkenny, Ireland, passed too! These people are so special to me and it hurts my heart that I will never get to see them again. What I wouldn't do for another hug or kiss off them! I will never stop loving you all. The hole in my heart will never be filled, this song will always remind me of how much I will never stop loving or thinking about you!
This takes me back to my childhood! First CD I ever owned was Suzy Bogguss. At the time, I'd never heard of her when my dad picked out this CD. I knew every song on that disk the time Christmas break was over. ...Back when they actually had female country music stars on the radio too... There's only like 3 women on country music stations these days. :( I remember growing up with Suzy Bogguss, Tawnia Tucker, Shaniah Twain, Faith Hill, Winona Judd... and more. So many women in country music back then! Why don't the stations play women anymore? It's so sad.
I used to have a White Mustang 5.0 got it when I was 16/17 had it when my daughter was in Preschool in Salina, Sold it in Salina to a man named Greg/Greggory then I bought a Hunter Green Oldsmobile Cutless 4 door.
@@evalehde3869 not as much as she should have. Aces did well, yes, but this woman didn't even have a number one hit?? Hows that getting credit? Three songs from Aces should have hit 1.
I don’t how I’m able to do it but I can still vividly remember this music video and all of her other ones and I love them as much today as I did back then.
She commanded respect with how she sang and with her appearance. To make it today as a woman in country it seems you need to dress less and have merely acceptable talent.
i was pretty astute as a kid when this song came out. i had an idea what she was saying..... but it didn't really hit home until just a few years ago. friend of mine was going through a divorce at the age of 60.... she'd stayed faithful to an emotionally vacant husband until she finally just decided she'd had enough of watching life pass her by. he got to have all his fun and all she got was middle age spread, a broken heart and dying dreams. it was during this conversation with her that the song sprang to mind. she had never heard it before so i sent it to her. hell, it's a sucker punch even for me because, astute as I was as a kid, I still find myself in this position. no plans to get divorced btw.... but i am no longer disenchanted with my life. I'm shaping it because it's MY life. As for my friend..... she didn't completely abandon her husband. She brought him home when he was diagnosed with cancer. nursed him through it then suddenly remembered she liked being single. but then covid hit. She tried to nurse him through that too but sadly he was one of the high risks. even sadder was they hospital forced him to die alone. My friend is doing ok though. she's a throwback to a tougher generation. older than me but we're kindred spirits. in fact, I think I'll call her tomorrow just to catch up.
