Those things are well deserved in terms of legacy. Beyond that how about we put a stronger effort into helping these young exceptional people gain the skills to have a full healthy life. He obviously had a hurt inside him that the accolades could not heal. From seeing and reading all these things about him these last few days one thing rings true...He mattered in his personal dealings after the game left him. He did that before 40 without a giant list of public mistakes....No matter how he felt about himself he continued to try to give back in a way that was not easy for him. Swallow your pride!!!! He did ...until he could not...believe it or not there is some value in that also....

A Purrson I couldn’t have said it better. My favorite picture I’ve ever had taken of myself or member of my family is one of my baby sister when she was still young enough she was in a stroller outside commonwealth when Jarred not only stopped to take a picture with us at walkover but actually picked her up to make sure it made for a good picture.

For real if someone knows the proper channels to go about getting the petition process started I would be more than happy to help in any way because he lived for the blue and white and to me personally embodies what makes college sports great

As a native Kentuckian looking in from afar, the loss of Jared is a wicked knee wobbling gut punch. As Matt said, there are only a handful of native born guys who reach the stature Jared has. He embodied all the traits that characterize an honest to goodness folk hero and losing him so soon leaves a real void in the cosmic fabric of BBN and yet, in some twistedly cruel sense, only adds to his legendary status. Beloved for so many reasons, it is truly a sad, sad time for all who are Big Blue. Prayers and much love to his family and friends.

J-Load was a terrific athlete regardless of how large he was. I'm a Gator but I also like UK and I always enjoyed watching him play because it was exciting to watch such a big guy do the things he did as a QB. 100 years from now people will watch video of him playing and be just as amazed. RIP Jared, RIP.

As a fan from England who started following the Giants in 2004, The Hefty Lefty was an instant fan favourite - always good for a yard when necessary. I never really paid any attention to his backstory until it was too late - and I really regret that. Rest in peace big man

Well done, very touching tribute. I have this memory of Jared playing in high school. Back then, Highlands was so dominant that we really only payed token attention to the game, because we were going to be up by a lot quickly. But I have this memory of watching him flip a blitzing corner over his back. He dipped his shoulder and, bam, right over. Like it was scripted. I couldn’t tell you who we were playing, hell it might not be accurate, just a composite of several plays of Jared dodging defenders that were half his weight. His passing devastated me, as if he were a family member. His public struggle with his weight helped to motivate and inspire me to fight harder with my own battle with my weight... I don’t know how to finish this though off, Jared will forever be my favorite UK player.

I refed jarred in little league watched him develope into one best h.s. q.b.s u will ever see! He played at highlands one the most pressure packed programs in the nation. I've watched and played in nky h.s. football his highlands team with derek smith was the best team i ever saw in nky. Then 1 game i went to watch him in collage was aganist arkansas in the 7 o.t. game. But as they said he was a better person! He never meet a stranger and always gave his time to fans and the BBN! you will be missed #22.

It's not Alabama or USC but Kentucky had another guy number 1 overall and hefty lefty had more yds. He could really play. In college he looked like a slightly bigher Ben Rothelensberger. If he had better habbits he could of sticked around longer. Got a ring backing up Eli mad respect and rip.
