From Wilmington to Quorn but not hiking.
Our wrap up for the end of our section hike from Quorn, a couple of days after we ended our hike early due to some fairly extreme conditions.

Well done for being prepared and having options in an emergency, probs saved your life.. I always carry a thermal survival bivvy bag for exactly this issue, climb in and zip up and wait it out

Yeah the problem was the high winds and hail of course... we ended up managing to get out and put on most of our warm gear while sheltering between the two large water tanks, but every time we got something out of the bags we were risking it blowing away, plus we had to take rain gear off to get more clothes on, which meant each new item got a bit wet before we could cover up again. If we'd had to hold out for that response from Orroroo, we planned to get out the tent and just use it as a giant sleeping bag for 2 type arrangement, just to keep the rain off and the wind out. We probably could have held out that way to morning, it would have allowed us to use the quilts and space blankets (yes we carry them), albeit not very comfortably in the collapsed tent. It was quite a moment when we saw those emergency vehicle lights though, the Wilmington CFS saved us from what would have been a very difficult and possibly dangerous night. :)
