The Israel Army has announced the death of its 12th soldier in Lebanon. The IDF said that he was killed while fighting Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon on October 10. Israel doesn't have an economy in the sense you and I'd define an economy. She's a major diamond exporter but unlike other diamond exporters like Russia, no diamonds are mined in Israel. They just import 1 billion dollars worth of stones in the raw from Africa, cut them and export them at 11 billion dollars. Of course there are other countries, like India, with excellent gem workers and those work at much lower wages, so one would expect jewelry companies to take their business to India, right? But of course they cannot. Israelis have farms but all those New York-born Israelis who own them don't know how to work the land and didn't make aliyah expecting a life of agrarian labor anyway. Indian and SE Asian migrants do all the farming. Israeli law makes it impossible for those migrants to marry Israelis of any religion, or even migrants of their own religion. So after working a few seasons those young workers all head back home. Israel is also weapon exporter, sort of. They import explosives, they import steel, they make a steel shell and put explosives in it. They bolt on a German-made guidance kit and export the thing as a made-in-Israel smart bomb. They can export weapons to countries whom the UN and the US have imposed sanctions -who will object to it? It's all a vaudeville masquerading as an actual economic system, really.
