Just a note for regarding storage of this lift, it can be stored in the vertical position. When collapsed and tipped up on the end with the wheels and bottle jack (the heavy side down) it will end up flush on the end and stand securely against the wall. To say it another way, if you lift the front of the lift (where the front tire sets) when its collapsed, it will stay collapsed as you lift it up, then stack it against the wall. Secure it for safety but it will set securely like this.

Great tip. I will have to check this out. I know the lift is extremely heavy and I can experiment with making it more portable. My garage is getting quite dense with all of the tools and my expansion into furniture building.

I'd buy the compressor to add to the wood working. Finish nail guns are handy. A 110 ac 30ish gallon compressor is just big enough to run most anything but still small.

Jason, I have been watching the Fortress 27 gal compressor pretty closely the past year. I really do want one and it is about $349 right now. I have been filling the shop with tools, rolling workbenches, rolling miter saw station, rolling table saw with drawers, and it seems to never end. I ask looking now at adding a 3rd garage door on the house to segregate from my truck and wife’s car. I am bolting anything I can to the ceiling Now to make more floor space. I am sure I will find a way to get one soon…

@@clemgriffis3446 I think I went with a 27 or 29 DeWalt vertical compressor I found on sale for $299. Has a built in regulator on the tank to step down the psi. It's amazing when you're built a certain way, you tend to catch the bug for certified Hobbies. I know for me lately it's been motorcycles, trucks, guns, dogs, woodworking/maker stuff. I like projects I can get done in a day or two. But I don't limit myself to that. I'm working on v8 swapping an S10. It's more gathering the right parts over time than it is straight work. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@jasoneager9323 I have been spending way too much time watching youtubers with wood shop and furniture building channels. very addictive. I didn't want to dilute the motorcycle based channel with woodworking so I may have to create a second channel, "The Rookie Woodworker"... what do you think?

I just bought this same lift. I’m thinking of just putting one strip right down the middle where the tires roll. Also trying to decide what wheel chock to use. Yours seems a bit hard to pull back off.
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 10 месяцев назад
Yes it is a bit hard to pull off but do-able. I really like the fact that both bikes are stable when in the chock and I can climb right off without any worry about falling. I always add the straps on the front forks regardless as a belt and suspenders safety measure. Perhaps there are better chocks out there that allow you to put the bike on and climb off without any worries until the front wheel is either cinched up like vice or some other securing method. Let me know what you decide on as I am always looking.

@clemgriffis3446

These are made by Bates. Bates dates back to the mid-1800s. You might be able to find some online that are new/old stock. I think Wolverine bought-out Bates, extracted the designs they liked for their logo and killed some styles I really liked. batesfootwear.com takes you to a wolverine web site. Wolverine bought the Harley brand shoe back in the late 90’s. I wish I could find another pair of what I have.

Hello love the videos question I have wheel chuck I noticed you put a piece of wood in between where the wheel goes does that help pull the bike off without using so much force because I’ve seemed to always have to have someone help me pull it off. It will be nice if you make a video about that thank you.

Brick, I have tried several suggestions for improvements I have seen and read about over the past few years… some make a big difference and some not so big. I would say this one is of marginal improvement. I think it likely is a good idea to explore this topic with an upcoming video, thanks for the suggestion. It is one that was incorporated to help make the bike easier to back off the chock and. Started a video and didn’t finish it because of the marginal improvement.

@@clemgriffis3446 i was checking out that plywood insert as well...what thickness plywood did you use? Also i have had one of these lifts for about 6years and it does work well on my dynas and my little 72 honda xl250. I was nervous about putting my 2023 street glide special on it until i saw your videos. Thank you for that!
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 2 месяца назад
@@fataltides The plywood is a nominal 1/2”, likely more like 7/16” actual. Yes, I have never shied away from putting my big bikes up on the lift. My 2013 street glide has been up in the air for the past few weeks while I do a little bit of work on it every couple of days. I have the bars off of it now while I lace the wires inside a new set of bars. My 2020 Limited is on the lift all the time as well. I will say that I plan to convert the foot pump cylinder to pneumatic pretty soon since I just go my air compressor in the shop. Thanks for the comments and hope you subscribe to the channel.

my real question is how stable is the lift. Like does it wobble up high, does it feel like it might tip over or is it really stable not being bolted to the floor?? Thanks for any input.
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 7 месяцев назад
Joe, thanks for the question. It is quite stable up in the air. I have now fear of a rip over. When riding up in the ramp, the lift can slide depending on speed and braking where momentum can create a slide. I am editing a video now showing how I am anchoring to the floor with this in mind. Look for it soon.

These are my go to blue jeans now that Harley quit making a particular style I used to buy. I buy the Ariat M5 and that’s what I wear almost everyday. 👍

Why do you have the piece of wood in your wheel chock for
@clemgriffis3446
@clemgriffis3446 5 месяцев назад
It was a trial and error attempt to potentially make it easier to pull the bike back out of the chock. It was only a very small margin of improvement. It was a cheap test since I have so much wood scraps from my furniture making. I don’t recommend it.
