HFunderground a great place to check for Pirate radio activity on Shortwave 

I have a Big Binder of letters, QSL Cards, from Pirates from the 80's and 90's. Even SSTV. My collection was archived by several institutions. Love FREE Radio. Thanks Giles

HF Underground is a great site! I use it all the time to help me to either find or identify pirates. I actually have some favourite pirate stations to find like Ballsmacker Radio on Friday nights. Others can come on anytime, like X-FM Shortwave, and can also be found almost anywhere but especially between 6900-7000 here. My hobby started moving in this direction since there seems to be less to listen to on the international band. All’s well. 73!

Pirates are fun to listen to. FM pirates are usually busted, but HF pirates are sporadic, making them harder to locate.

I remember WFAT years ago in the 40 M amateur band, and WJDI, on 1620, with quite a bit of power, on New Years Eve, and I received back a large cardboard QSL reply, near Kingston, NY. 😊

Isn’t there one in Maine that was a pirate station and now is a licensed SW station, one of the last SW stations that plays music IIRC.

There's someone local to me that transmits on FM . I do suspect students at the university.
