HG Gundam Asmoday Review | IRON BLOODED ORPHANS URDR HUNT 

Oh boy it’s finally been 2 hours! The anticipation made it feel so much longer!

The best part about Gundam Asmoday is that it technically doesn't have a designated pilot. According to the bio, Gjallarhorn built the Gundam by the end of the Calamity War, but no one piloted it, not because it was a terrible mobile suit, it was just left empty for years. Canonically, as of now, Asmoday is pilotless, meaning anyone can pilot the prince of demons.

11:37 I think the reason why the rifle looks familiar is because its design does borrow from other IBO mobile suit’s rifles. Two that come to mind are the Man Rodi’s and Astaroth’s rifles.

I really appreciate that side by side comparison of unpanel lined/unstickered build vs the panel lined/stickered build.

My biggest disappointment with the master grade Barbatos is that other than the alternative versions of the basic Barbatos they haven't given us anything that uses that frame which is an amazing kit. I would love for more suits, such as this one, to be released as MG kits. The smaller scale just doesn't do them justice.

I swear IBO designs just seem like another different anime. Some of it’s designs straight up just stray away from the usual gundam design and I love it

the fact the IBO still gets new designed kits that comes out gives me a slither of hope for a prequel movie or series about the calamity war like origin but much farther back edit: also kinda sucks that as IBO becomes a even more popular universe/series the more expensive the kits are but with the same or less quality kits (sometimes) an example being the increase of stickers and left out details such as the leg vents on this one when its shown that bandai is well capable of producing good IBO kits that isnt sticker heavy with a fair price

I think as a nice unwritten rule you should topcoat any IBO kit and maybe use gundam markers for their cables in the frame. Deffo makes them pop

I to this day still wonder why they seemed to have forgotten adding small, box-shaped portions on circular shaped handles like they did with the original HG Barbatos' mace. Still, that Gundam head is so cool

it’s interesting that this is how it would have looked during the calamity war, all the other calamity war versions of the suits seem to have a few design cues that this doesn’t have, especially color wise. makes me even more curious what the other unknown suits look like

Damn . Asmoday , Barbatos , Bael , Astaroth . We need more of the 72 Demon or to be exact 72 Pillar . Would have be a great lineup of Gundam Frame from the Calamity War .

I’m really glad I caught this today. I just bought my first Gunpla and planned on building it this weekend. I’ve got the IBO Astaroth HG kit and your tips for this build definitely informed me to the couple of extra things I should have on hand before getting started.

This design looks amazing, it reminds me to the G-Reco designs who are heavily based on big grills and a lot of panels around. But the almost different armor design style fits pretty well thanks to the Gundam Frame. Seriously, I'm very happy to see more and more Gundam Frames in this line.

I was not expecting to see the IBO lore progress further in 2022, but I am really glad to see more information on the Calamity war. Such a cool backdrop to the events of the main IBO story that regrettably we probably won’t ever understand fully.

I absolutely fell in love with the looks of this kit. If I do get this, definitely need to by the matte top coat.

Looks like a cool kit even with the extra work needed. One thing I like to do to tighten the joints is apply a thin layer of super glue to the joint, let it dry, then connect the joint to the socket. Usually adds a bit of strength in a pinch when you don't have any top coat.

This is legitimately one of my favorite HG I’ve seen from IBO. PISTON TONFAS ARMS, HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!?

Thanks for reminding me about the pre-ordering thing at the start. I went to check HLJ if the Witch From Mercury kits were available for pre-order, and ended up finding and finally buying the HG Revive Gundam Mk-II AEUG version as well as the G-Xiphos from a Gundam Age manga.

With the fantastic color separation of the Entry Grade kits, and hell, even 30mm... the fact that we're still getting these HGs with a Lisa Frank sticker sheet is a shame.

meanwhile we still don't know how the Gundam Seere from the IBO Gekko manga as in the Gundam Frame that killed the manga protagonist's family looks like thus resulting in people mistaking the Asmoday for the Seere when concept art was revealed for the first time.

This design is so awesome. I really hope we get a ONA or Manga adaptation of urdur hunt because I don't play mobile games 😭

I haven't seen any option sets since January of 2020 (at least in my hobby shop), I'm not sure when they'll hit the production line again eather, but IBO kits have been slowly coming back on the shelves so that's probably a good thing.

I found out if you also glue the waist polycap to the waist and if you tighten the leg pegs on the waist it becomes a very solid kit. I tried this on my HG Barbatos Lupus Rex and HG Bael and i'm no longer afraid to touch them. Quick note is that gluing the waist polycap wont cause bad articulation and you can still rotate the torso and bend forward and back with the Ahab reactor parts. Also definitely going to pick up this kit. Looks awesome!!

Thank you for the tips on this kit. It will be my first IBO kit and 2nd HG (after the amazing Moon Gundam). I will be sure to tighten up the joints during assembly. Looking forward to customizing this kit as I love its design from Ippei Gyoubu

Hold on a minute, has anyone noticed that the metallic green oval symbol on the back of the asmodeus’s backpack is the same kind on the astaroth ( the original one, not the origin or rinscamento)’s waist propulsion units where it held the daggers until it’s upgrade into rinscamento?

Longest 2 hour wait for me hahaha. Awesome review man. I really like your straight build approach and the basic tips you give out to fellow straight builders. With regards to this kit, I think leaving out the missing color details still makes it look good. I would suggest cutting off the handle from the "sword", and scratch build a square handle instead. Thanks for reviewing this kit. How far are you along your Omegamon X?

The white color and the Neon Green accent is really remind me of Brawn GP Team from Formula 1

Mine just came in and I can't wait to build it. This may be one of my favorite Gundam designs of all time! I love the overall aesthetic, the color scheme and those awesome melee weapons! The hydraulic tonfa alone are some of the coolest weapons I've ever seen on a Mobile Suite. It really sells the agility and mobility of this thing. I tend to prefer Gundam designs that are sleek and agile over ones that are massive and clunky with tons of stuff hanging off of them, probably why I love the IBO designs so much. I'm definitely going to paint most of it though, there are ton of those awful wrap-around stickers. I really hate that they changed the English name for absolutely no reason. Asmodeus is a badass name and makes a lot of sense given it's named after a demon lord, there was no reason at all to change it to the ancient way of pronouncing the same name. Regardless, I absolutely love this thing and I'm so glad we're getting more IBO designs as IBO is my favorite Gundam series with my favorite Gundam designs. Seeing more kits and the recent trailer, it gives me hope that Urdr-Hunt might actually be a thing someday soon. I just wish it was a full-fledged anime and not just some kind of mobile game.

Pre-ordered this and Gikurune. I have a few IBO frame kits. Definitely need to be topcoat. Weirdly enough only my Vual and Grimgerde still standing without topcoated.

Those yellow highlighter colored parts and stickers look like they would react to UV light quite well. Did anyone test it yet?

Option sets especially option sets for the barbatos are extremely rare nowadays. It's either out of stock or in an extremely high and very unreasonable price. Edit: option sets are sooo rare here in the Philippines that I literally gave up looking for one and just made my own set of guns and weapons for my barbatos lupus.

Maybe the claws Are so they can grab onto the top of a mobile armor and use the tonfas at point blank range

This time remember to push the chest of a pg unicorn all the way down, becouse you had a nasty gap on your older unicorn. Its an easy fix.

Hey Mecha ( or anyone else who's reading this) I just wanted to let you know. During your Barbataurus review you said you can make another Gundam using bottom half of Barbataurus. Maybe you can salvage some of the left over parts from Astaroth Renicimento ( and maybe some from this kit) and use it to make another Gundam using said bottom half of Barbietaurus

For all the flaws of the HGIBO line, I think their looks more than make up for the ~1 hour more spent on shoring up the shortcomings.

that's the downshide of ippei gyobou design, his design is good but needs lots of sticker for HG size, id say his design works perfectly in expensive HG like moon gundam or maybe MG in the future

I am now curious if the Asmodeus never went into battle and still has all of its original parts, I wonder why are the thrusters on its calves look very similar to the Astaroth Rinascimento's right calf thruster, and the thin hexagon on its backpack also looks very similar to the ones on the side skirts of Gundam Astaroth (the 2nd version). When I saw Asmodeus before, I really thought that maybe its armor came from the same manufacturers as those used by the Astaroth, but I guess not. I know that the Bael and the Barbatos both have that power symbol on them, I just got curious since there are not many of those similarities on the other gundams in IBO

This guy really looks like a TSF. It just needs large side skirt armors with thrusters, and camouflage pattern. For the thrusters, I'm thinking about those of the Gundam Throne Zwei's, modified with thruster parts. Not sure about the connection compatibility.
