This design grows more on me after every review I see. I’m a huge SF fan, but even I admit that this is what it was always meant to be, and now that it’s here I absolutely love it! And that’s not even considering the surprise of it having an insane space katana on it.
To transform this to the Strike Freedom Spec 2 will require the backpack from the original Strike Freedom and the Type 35 railguns from the Gelgoog Menace.
Can confirm that it does as someone with the kit, you can even see it at 4:45 when he shows the shiny gold runner what's nice is that you also get backs of the hand (even if they're the same as the holding hand backs), so that's nice not having tto share parts like with 30 minute missions and some other kits
Thank you for the review sir! I love the MS look of this new SF, from the head sculpt, black and white contrast to those shoulders and armguards giving it a bulkier silhouette. The backpack does look good too, but I might swap mines with Rising's, sort of forming a spiritual successor to the OG Freedom.
Doubt it. They updated the base body to have different shoulders, arm gauntlets, skirt armors, rail guns and calf thrusters so if there’s gonna be an rg. It’ll be a brand new kit. Likely using a whole new mg style inner frame like the impulse and other contemporary RGs which I personally prefer anyway.
Probably takes another 2 years. Personally hoping they'll make RG Destiny SPEC II with completely new engineering, to replace the original RG Destiny, a good looking but barely posable hand grenade. Seriously, early RGs sucks ass. The HGCE was miles better than that thing.
My place got stock late arrival issues but had enough that scalpers got fucked over, LMAO. GOOD. Seriously, this ain't P Bandai. Don't pay more than 30-35 USD for this kit.
I've tried my hardest, but I just can't bring myself to like the white wings. Something about the color scheme just doesn't work for me. If they had kept the wings blue instead, this design would have been peak Freedom.
to me the white wings are ok, but the gold smaller wings inside just look bad. it tried so hard to be Destiny but using the wing mechanism of the OG freedom for the winglets just dont work
I call this line Stickers Freedom cause all have too many stickers. Bandai focused mainly on articulations so the kits are stickers heavy. Also It seems to me that they wanted to exploit the movie so kits were meant cheap to make to have the biggest and fastest income. Pity cause the mecha design in this movie is so Cool.
@@riblo72you say that, but most stickers always either go on weapons or are pinstripe detail (gelgoog, rising freedom, etc) which usually isnt done in parts on hgs cause itd massively increase parts count. the stickers are barely relevant to articulation, and more a case of not wanting even more plastic in the boxes (the msf is actually really big, and im sure they didnt want to break the 3k yen mark by adding another runner to add the small colour apps for the rifles) the only real offender is the shive-a cause of the colour correcting grey all over it.
since im commenting, ill also ask why people dislike the 3d stickers. i personally like them cause they dont look like stickers cause of the layer of plastic ocer the print, while also allowing for very thin detail that just couldnt be achieved with clear plastic without it being extremely brittle. its better than an acrylic sheet at the very least, esp since it has something to stay in place.
Good review, Zaku. Other than the fact that you missed out that it does include open expressive hands. Source: me because I built one already LMAO. Personally, a great kit of a MUCH better design than the original Strike Freedom & also representing the redemption of SEED as a franchise & Kira Yamato as a character.
Bandai really could have just made small adjustments to the existing HGCE Strike Freedom, and added the Proud Defender. Instead, they made a new mold. It makes me wonder why they didn't do the same with kits for updated MS's like the Jegans from _Unicorn_ , as well as the _Build_ series kits based on more mass produced units. That they can do so much makes me somewhat disappointed that they don't whenever the opportunity presents itself. I would really like a modern Jegan kit, like what they did with the GM/GM.
