The effort into disassembling both the delta gundam and mega shiki just to make that purple delta is just.. wow Not to mention needing extra *extra* care when doing anything with plated kits you wanna stay shiny And you used it for ONLY 2 SHOTS BRO... THE EFFORT... KEEP IT UP!

Man, you noticed! not gonna lie, that made my day. it really did take a bit of work stripping the kits back and forth, but I really wanted my shots:) Still tons of stuff I really want to review, so hope to see you around

@@HobbyClubhouse as it stands, the quality and insight you provide in your reviews are just *(chefs kiss)* so good. Here are some things I noticed after recently seeing some of your videos: Really love you going into detail on the design, parts, runners (& its segmentation), and some of the history of the kit like remolds or other miscellanous IRL info like some "behind closed doors" theorizing (alot of that on this review especially). This approach of yours is VERY distinct yet detailed compared to any other Gunpla reviewer on YT that I have seen (and yes, I have seen em all atleast once). To top it off, your scriptwriting is always fluidly written where none of it feels forced and lots of care was taken into it... I always notice good scriptwriting when I see it! Anyways, really loving the content here! So much good effort hidden underneath even though nobody will pick up on it... well... *almost* nobody lol Keep up great work and with more time, Im sure youll get even better. Just remember to prevent burning yourself out :)

Man.. i've always wondered how chrome plating actually works so i was surprised to hear a little bit about it in this video. Anything chrome is something that is always seen as a luxury in the gunpla world, yet i feel like its more common than we're lead to believe. I've seen them on cheap chinese plastic sword toys to cosmetic bottles and assets for parties like confettis or wrappings. I suppose it's a whole world of difference when it comes to chrome plating on plastic models! Oh also, happy holidays!
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
Proper chrome plating on plastic takes quite a few steps to make it durable and beautiful - and environmentally friendly. It's quite sad that unregulated Chinese factories really wreck havoc with toxic waste water. Bandai actually cut down on chrome usage a lot after Japan regulated the waste management more strictly in the late 90's Happy holidays to you too:)

As usual great review, loved the tidbit about the chrome plating procedure. Personally I've never been a fan of the Zeta-ztyle transforming mobile suits, something like the Re-GZ, the Gaplant, or the Age-II "feel" better, as robot-turning-into-spaceship go. Anyway, merry holydays.

A belated happy holidays to you too, haha. Didn't get to these comments until now. Speaking of which, I really want to review both the ReGZ and Gaplant... when will they reprint them...

This thing looked way better in person. I do have to say that I just dig the idea of a Shiki with a shield. I kinda wish there was a curry version to pair with my Hyaku.

Great review as always, though i suggest using gloves when handling chrome kits so as to keep the surface as shiny as possible

Got this as a gift last Christmas. A great fun kit! Matte Coated the inner frame parts and left the chrome parts alone. It looks awesome! The worst part of the kit is the stickers for the leg vents so I just painted it.

Nothing says style like a solid gold mobile suit! Honestly, I kind of wish the Hyaku Shiki got more call backs and nods over the years, the only one I can think of is the Gundam Akatsuki from Gundam SEED Destiny, and not only do I think that was just because SEED was supposed to be the U.C of the modern era at the time, but it and Cagali both just really got the shaft. Still, more gold plated suit in other eras would be nice, the Shiki deserves the love.
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
It's probably really hard to think of a reason for an MS to be gold head to toe. The Akatsuki is made fun of quite a lot even by fans, I've seen so much of it over the years I do like plated kits when the plating is high quality like this, though the price... My poor wallet can only handle so much

Seeing how many details and info you put into your reviews, you truly deserve more subscribers than the ones you currently have. Thanks to your review now i know the Mega Shiki uses a lot of the Delta, that said, now i want to get that kit even more, i was planning on getting one to paint it gold and get it to look more like the regular Hyaku, but now i know I can basically have a Delta kit for cheaper, only thing I'm left to know is if the Mega Shiki comes with that huge block to get it transformed.
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
Ah, unfortunately it doesn't have the transformation block and you can't make the shield either. It's frustratingly 90% of a Delta or so

14:50 ah the 88! when bandai makes you pay through the nose to get part separated wing (and still cheapens up with the red winglet).. (yes i know there's lots of minute differences between this and the revive, but the red trim is what jumped at me the most) the purple Delta reminds me alot of the Mk.III actually! it could be it's early prototype test type of sorts, speaking of prototypes, since we're in Z MSV territory now, will you do AoZ? i think kits with lore as heavy as those is perfect for your review style! also, Mr Hobby, how do you able to touch the things without smudging the model all around? i think when i made a similar model like this i need gloves and lots of micro-fibers just to keep it shiny lol.
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
To spoil the UC0088's eventual review, it's greatest charm is actually as a baby MG Zeta 1.0:) but yes, I really don't like that red winglet either... AoZ is like a boss fight for my type of review, everything is mixed with everything else and there's a billion combos... I will do some of them eventually... Maybe... I just wiped the thing again and again before each shot so it was kind of annoying. You can see it get smudged up in the articulation and transformation part where I couldn't avoid it. Didn't want to wear gloves because it makes me look like a serial killer

Thanks for the Christmas review! One thing I'm curious though, how to builders go about chroming their kits? It's not like they have access to nickel like Bandai or other manufacturers do. And the easy chrome solutions like Molotow Liquid Chrome and the Gundam Marker Chrome EX have their own limitations with how fragile their finishes are. I imagine the process would be incredibly hard for a builder doing it all by themselves but I don't even know how they'd begin to approach that issue.
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
Most people can't because you'd need to get all the chemicals you need, and plating plastic is not straight-forward (plastic doesnt conduct electricity soyou need to first get a layer of conductive substance to stick onto it first) There are small companies that help people chrome things, though I don't really see modellers use them. In short, modellers actually forego chrome altogether since it usually isn't an option at all

Damn I thought I had already commented on this video but oh well lol This kit is one heck of an oddball as you have said, It would be neat if it did get a revive using the new Revive Hyakushiki as a basis but this kit will be good enough even for me but man that's one heck of a price tag like wow
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
Yeah, I think the styling is handsome enough to go against new kits today, though I wouldn't mind an update either. I think it's the most expensive standard-sized HGUC kit even above the Phenex, so I also don't want to buy this thing twice...

i think it's really dumb that the hguc delta gundam ii was a exclusive special color variant instead of a standard release to bring the asking price of the delta gundam way the hell down but no i guess standard release or SCV dis MS expensive which really sucks because i love the design more than the delta kai but at the price of 2100 pesos thats just a no for me

One technical question: Can the paint stick on the chrome part? I see there is red color correct sticker on the chrome part
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
It sort of works, though the paint sometimes doesn't grip well sitting on top of the clear paint already on the part. The bigger issue is the thickness of adding paint onto three (or more) layers already on the part (conductive material, thin layer of metal, clear paint) so the surface will be really uneven and not too beautiful
@heymanchan9007

Is that Oven Cleaner safe for plastic? I got a 2nd hand kit that's panel lined with tamiya panel liner on bare plastic and i wanted to strip it off lol. IPA won't work and using an X-20 or other enamel thinner might crack the plastic ☹
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
My Superior Dragon did okay in the mixture for two days, though I didn't mix a lot of it in You can cut off a bit of an inner wall or a peg to test it. I don't think it's very aggressive to plastic in my experience

wait, what is the phantom hguc hyaku-shiki 1.5?
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
I guess a phantom 2.0 is more accurate. The Delta Gundam was a new mold that unintentionally(?) re-sculpted lots of the Hyaku-shiki. Lots of fans thought they were going to make a new Hyaku-shiki with this kit back then but it never happened
@Softbirb
@Softbirb 2 года назад
@@HobbyClubhouse hmmm my guess would be that they planned on doing it at some point until build fighters, when the revive strike was introduced they held back the design until they figured out how to fix some of the seam line problems on the delta

nice. wish you had the old HGUC to compare the colors. from dalong, the Delta looks too yellowish and gives me the impression of fake gold on fake accessories/bags for women. also interesting, your curry shiki seems to have a lighter blue part. ... and now I'm worried there's going to be another 2 week drought ahead
@HobbyClubhouse
@HobbyClubhouse 2 года назад
Bandai seems dead-set on not reprinting the classic kits over their Revive versions, like the old Guncannon that I really want to review "Curry Shiki" is a much kinder name than what I imagine it as:) I like the little guy but the color is tragic... Also, probably won't be two weeks - but maybe I shouldn't jinx it
