The truck was turning g well before the car got to the corner. The turn I narrow forcing the truck to go wide. Which he did perfectly. Just because now the car has reached the junction doesn't then make the truck at fault. Its the cars responsibility to wait then approach the junction. Unfortunately too many people nowadays seem too think that regardless they have the right. Check ur highway code ffs

Lovely bit of driving going on there, took the corner nice and smooth, didn't mount the kerb, and the cab and trailer lined up perfectly after the manoeuvre was completed 👍

So you think he'd have passed his test doing this do you? That would be an instant fail. Far too fast and absolutely no anticipation of other vehicles. The car driver prevented an accident, not the HGV driver. He would have been the cause had the car not braked hard.
@@calchedzdoesn't matter. The car would've been stopping, but that corner is blind for both the truck and the car. Nobody approches a blind junction and expects to get into a near miss with a wagon.

Exactly, bad potential hazard awareness i would have been slowing down way before car did and not have needed to brake that much and i would thinking its a blind junction i have no way to know what is there or oncoming. I got taught that not only by a driving instructor but aslo in hazard perception i got hit with a blind junction clip i got 100% on that clip just by remembering what he taught me. Same with idiots driving through fords etc really fast showing off, there could be holes, bricks anything hidden i went too fast through a puddle learning and i got a right telling off for it
The car had plenty space and time to stop before the yellow diversion sign (if they were doing an appropriate speed, so close to a stop sign...), their slow reactions caused a potential near miss. The lorry didn't do anything wrong as far as I'm concerned. As for comments about nearly hitting the hedge, he was miles away from that, and it's hard to judge from the angle of the video, but he likely had a good couple of feet separation from the front of that Beetle also.
When turning into a road, you creep forward to make sure you don’t impact other road users when taking up their part of the road correct and THEN commit to the turn, BUT, that was an insane clean turn.
@@mikeoxpierced patience is a virtue. I'm never in so much of a hurry that 3 or 4 cars going before me is going to ruin my day I let loads of cars out. He could see before turning that no one was at the stop line so he began to turn, as he got into the road the Volkswagen appeared and he perfectly executed the turn. People don't realise that HGVs are huge vehicles with an enormous turning circle. It's not a car, you should give them plenty of room to perform maneuveres like this.
@@Bullwinkle39 Go look at the start of the video. The VW was more than the truck's length away from a Stop sign (note the yellow sign on the left). Driver could have just stopped there, given the truck some space and no worries. But no he / she had keep moving forward.
The issue isn't the turning circle. The issue is giving people chance to give them room. In this scenario the white car was already approaching the junction before the HGV came barrelling into view. And in any case if your vehicle necessarily has to use the wrong side of the road to manoeuvre, it's your responsibility to give way to traffic using their side of the road until and if another road user chooses to give up their priority to you.
@@1chish I'm not sure I agree, they just didn't have enough time to process and react to the HGV barrelling round the corner. But even if we take your comment at face value. It is is their right. With how tight and narrow that junction is the hgv would have had to be on the wrong side of the road to set up for the junction atleast a trucklength back so he is already committed! He can't let the car coming down the road out as its going the same way he is coming from ao there is no room! He also isn't going fast he's doing a perfectly good and safe job of navigating a difficult junction. You have obviously never driven or been in an hgv so maybe you should see if you can go out with someone in one for a day and see how different it is to driving your car.
As a fellow lorry driver I think he did amazingly well. Didn't use unnecessary amounts of road, cleared the junction swiftly, didn't mount the kerb and used influence without bullying. Also I don't think he could pinch too much road from the right as there was a building there, there won't be a ton of rear end swing as hs axles are right at the back of the tailer, but he still had to take that into account. Either way, he did great.
@WiThErZ666 too right! The problem is all these bloody car drivers don't ever even try to think about why we might be maneuvering differently than them in their 6 foot box

Amazingly well done. No idea why anyone would criticize it. I live in a town with a major state highway that turn from EW to NS in the heart of town. I see this every day. Truck here will go from the yellow line, which goes straight, and then use both lanes of opposing traffic when turning right. There’s an extra bit of pavement making nearly 2 1/2 lanes at the end of the turn for trucks turning left. Like the right turn trucks will use all lanes
Something tells me.this video didn't go the way the videoing Karen wanted it to! Now let's see Karen drive the lorry ss skillfully as the lorry driver with the 40+ tones of load ! 🤣😂👍🏴

Ahhh we see the total lack of sarcasm translation at its best. My post is the usual response you’ll get from the arrogant pig headed trucky community that expects everyone else to know what they know, knowing they’ve had training and more importantly that nobody else has unless your a trucky. Yet everyone is supposed to know what the trucky knows and therefore know what he is doing before he does it and drive accordingly or plan ahead, as clearly exhibited here. The morons even place the entire road using population into sub categories according to what they drive. Cyclists being road flees for example.
No!!! Car on it's road - truck turning into car's Road. Truck obliged to ensure road it's turning into is clear. Do you drive? If so, take another test!!😂
To be fair he has to swing very late then turn sharply keeping an eye on the inside curb.. He has already committed to the manoeuvre long before the car arrived..
The class 1 was already at the junction, as the car hadn't even pulled up yet.. You must allow a junction to clear before proceeding into the junction.. Even as a car driver you're expected to give way and not pull forward to stop the truck finishing, has not there been enough room the car would have to back up..
@@anoncyclist2131 the truck was already at the junction long before the car.. The car should have held back until the truck cleared the junction, which often requires a truck to encroach into another vehicles lane.. If the truck driver staid in his lane, his inside wheels would be mounting the kerb!
If the VW had been a little further up, that would have been a very bad day for him. The trucker entered the turn at speed without regard for the possibility that someone would be in the lane he swung into.
We dont know that for sure. The car may have flashed him and /or deliberately braked early to allow the truck to continue unhindered. But if the car didn't do that, then yes you are right, but we dont know for sure why the car stopped early
As the hgv driver in this video can I explain it from my point of view. I was already committed to the turn on the main road before I could see into the junction caused by the obstruction of the hedge and blocking the main road, as I turned in I saw the white car coming towards the junction and could tell they were coming at speed to the stop sign preventing me from making the turn. Due to this I chose to carry out my manoeuvre as the car was still a fair way back. As for the speed that was done in what I felt was a safe manor in order to clear the junction without causing a hazard to anymore road users. What the camera doesn't show is there was still a large space between myself and the white car. Rightly or wrongly I understand both sides of the argument with regard to speed as watching the video I can see it looks like I'm going faster than I am but doesn't show the speed the white car is approaching the junction in the same way.
They weren't driving at speed to the junction to stop you, they were driving up to the junction normally when you came round the corner too fast for the conditions. You admit you couldn't see what was round the corner so you should have been at a speed where you were prepared to stop. I'm pretty sure you'd have failed your driving test for that manoeuvre.
At no point was I meaning they were driving up to the junction to stop me, simply stating that they were approaching the junction with excessive speed that the video doesn't show. With regards to me making the manoeuvre at excessive speed I was not I did it in a safe manner and would have been able to stop if the need arrived, in fact if you watch the video you can see me ease off just before I start the manoeuvre, I was simply stating I used speed in a manor that I felt was safe in order to get round the junction to clear from being an obstruction on the main road, I would not have done that manoeuvre if I didn't feel it was safe to do so when I started the manoeuvre the white car was miles away from the junction allowing me to do it safely but due to excessive gained on me quickly. As for the vomment about failing a test an examiner would never but a new driver in such a tight situation so that point is void, also as my instructors and examiners have said in the past they teach you to pass the test the real driving and learning starts after you have passed hence the fact I did the manoeuvre I did due to past experience of this sort of situation
He forced the drive to brake. Hgv driver didn't check to see if the road was clear to turn into, which it wasn't. I can't believe people are defending this idiot.
I'm a Lorry-Driver too, and this driver did everything correctly. Because of the size of HGVs we have to take a wide sweep at junctions, and sometimes take-up two lanes at traffic islands so that the back of the Lorry doesn't cause any damage as we go round. When you see a Lorry making a tricky manoeuvre, just slow down for a couple of seconds and give them space. It's not really going to make a big difference to your journey is it?
As the HGV driver was already on the roundabout, and I am sure the white vehicle's driver had already seen it approaching before reaching the mouth of the junction, they should have stopped earlier or gone to the left side of the road because the highway codes teach us that big vehicles take up more space when they are turning so it's normal for them to go to the wrong side of the road.
I was in Luton a few days ago, there was a van parked on the opposite side of the road and a car half parked on the pavement on my side, so I pulled my 18t truck over to the left to pass the pavement parked car. A van driver was approaching form the opposite direction so to avoid a potential collision I closed off any space he might have had available to squeeze through. This was purely done in the interets of safety, he totally did no expect this to happen he slammed his brakes on gesticulated, honked his horn and gesticulated even more. I put my rhumba up to him for having the good sense to stop and not crash into the vehicle parked on his side. He obviously thought u had slighted him. I thought it was hilarious. HGV driver have to command the road space they need to use to operate their vehicles safely.
Already taken the other side of his road to get trailer round without mounting kerb, car should have conceded his space to allow hgv safe passage. Think you need a life son
Manoeuvre was great, let himself down by being too fast and not clearing the junction on a blind corner/junction. As had been said by many others, if this was his test, he would have failed.
The car wants to turn right. The truck will be right across the side of road the car driver wants to turn on to in order to get round the corner. The was already no prospect of the truck giving way & it had priority as it was on the major road (no stop sign facing them). The truck was indicating so the car should have stopped as soon as it saw that. Both drivers were able to stop.
I know this junction very, very well and the lorry didn't do anything wrong. The lorry is coming off a 30mph road, round a blind corner which the beetle wouldn't be able to see around emerging onto the main road either, so the lorry pulling in has no chance pulling off the main road. Beetle held back perfectly so no problem from them either, so just posting for the fun if it 👌🏻👌🏻
Your right. Except you missed the point. The drivers speed forced a possible dangerous situation. The HGV should have maneuvered slower giving the beetle more time to react. At this speed the HGV forced their way through the junction.
@@bigdsdashcamvideos3715 the lorry driver could've crawled round that junction, and still wouldn't have known the car was there until he'd gone round the corner. Yes he could've slowed a little but wouldn't have made any difference.
really can't understand how can anyone say this was a well executed manouver. yes he did take the turn, but with absolutely no care about other road users.
It seems that the local council needs to move the STOP line by some 5-10 metres if they are going to allow HGV's on this road. The HGV driver did a good job of getting the trailer wheels round the corner with out mounting the pavement, not so sure about the car driver though.

You must always follow the road signs . Did you see that first sing is Give Way and second one sing is stop . If you follow the road sings you are a good driver ❤
It’s a hairpin sodden bend, getting a car round there would be an effort, but an articulated Lorry needs a wider berth, and yes, our roads are terrible !
Exactly the HGV had the right of way not the car approaching the junction as the car approaching the junction is the one who must give way to any Larger vehicle merging or turning onto that road go read the highway code if you think I'm wrong it clearly states that you must giveway to a larger vehicle
Let's turn to the highway code if a larger vechile is merging onto a side street you must yield and allow the larger vechile to pass as you are approaching a intersection you must stop and give way to traffic already on that road therefore that being said the larger vehicle turning onto the side road has the clear right of way over the car approaching the intersection the car must yield I know this as I am a class D and D1 driver myself if that was me and you failed to yield I will hit you and the insurance will not pay out as I would of had the right of way you would of failed to yield to the larger vehicle turning who had the right of way in the first place
Here is the law on giving way to larger vehicles highway code Law RVLR reg 17(1) & 26 221 Large vehicles. These may need extra road space to turn or to deal with a hazard that you are not able to see. If you are following a large vehicle, such as a bus or articulated lorry, be aware that the driver may not be able to see you in the mirrors. Be prepared to stop and wait if it needs room or time to turn. Rule 221: Large vehicles need extra room 222 Large vehicles can block your view. Your ability to see and to plan ahead will be improved if you pull back to increase your separation distance. Be patient, as larger vehicles are subject to lower speed limits than cars and motorcycles. Many large vehicles may be fitted with speed limiting devices which will restrict speed to 56 mph (90 km/h) even on a motorway. 223 Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road.
@@philipwatters6849 your analysis is completely wrong and it is I would have not I would of A HGV must not use the size of his vehicle to bully other road users or make other road users take avoiding action. The rule is there for the car to give way to a hgv driver who is committed to a manouver. This hgv driver did not check to see if he was clear to make the manouver. He wasn't. Also if you hit another vehicle while driving the way he did you would be 100% to blame. He came blindly into the cars path without any regard if he was clear to make the manouver or not.
Just speed, that's the issue as it lead to the driver no checking the junction was clear and then not stopping yo confirm the actions of other toad users.
HGV driver did correctly drive. Approaching car needed to observe more luckily gave way early enough so traffic could flow and solve the problems not be the problem
Hgv was in the right, because when entering a junction you should do so with caution. Has the lorry was turning off a main road in to a side road the car should have stopped and aloud to clear the junction
The HGV driver had about half a second from seeing into that road to blocking the opposite trafic lane. He drove that more or less blind. If there had been a faster car with more reaction time that would be a crash video because he couldn't stop that fast.
Good driving but terrible road manners, you are not allowed to force other cars to avoid you in their lane. It's not a debatable situation, if you think the truck driver was right you need to retake your test and so does he, if he hit the car it would be his fault 100%.
