They made really good music. However, their Unsung was tragic. Tony died of an overdose. One member was paralyzed in an accident. Another killed his wife.

The lead singer is Tony Thompson. The group was originally built around his voice, because he was preternaturally gifted, and a second lead singer, Toriano. Toriano was kicked out of the group after the first single because he was convicted of murder. He's a powerful singer and his loss set a really sad precedent for the group, which had tragedy after tragedy culiminating in Tony's death. You can hear Toriano's lead on the single, "Can't Wait Another Minute." His replacement vocalist sings it in live performances, but the recorded version is Toriano.
Tony and Toriano were a perfect match vocally. Their vocals complimented each other in “can’t wait another minute.” Toriano can still sing, and it’s a shame that the group hasn’t brought him back, now that he’s out. Tony and Pooh are gone, and Russell is in a mental hospital, as he’s incompetent to stand trial. Marcus is the only original member still standing.
HiFive was modeled after New edition. Tony Thompson was definitely modeled after Ralph and the group was built around Tony Thompson. They should made him solo.

Another Teddy Riley jam...rest in Heaven Tony Thompson... This song still goes hard to this day..they are from the same town as Tevin Campbell..this group has been through hell and back..when they first got together, one member was part of a murder in Oklahoma City so he got kicked out and brought in someone else.. They were in a really bad wreck and ome member is now paralyzed..then Tony passing away..and Russ is doing life in prison for murder...they were on top of the R&B world...then life happened...but they brought out some hits though that made our teenage years worthwhile
