My heart just breaks. Tony, Dino from HTown, the lead singer from Intro, Kenny Green. My childhood was so special because of these young brothers gone way too soon.☹️☹️☹️☹️
Just think, if I didn't grow up in the time of Hi Five, Mint Condition, and Jodeci, I wouldn't know what good music should sound like. I miss all the 90s groups.
So grateful! How foolish I was thinking it would only get better, not knowing it was an end of an era. We'll never see anything close to the timeless music of the 90s 😔
Tamara, back then, I was truly in love with my first girlfriend, and I would play this song all the time, over and over!!! The 90's was definitely my best time of my life!!!
It’s probably because the instrumental was similar to Janet Jackson’s Come back to me song’s chord structure… from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis or Art and Rhythm who produced High 5’s version. This is where the music business gets ugly… if you noticed, as hot as this song was, but still is, unfortunately, usually it was played at the end of most R&B music video shows, as the credits rolled toward the end… and so to get full access to this song back then you either had to be lucky to catch it on the radio or buy the movie sound track to the movie Menace to Society to run it back at your leisure.
I have no words to describe how I feel about Hi Five, their music touched my soul as teenage girl and still today... I'm extremely saddened that you're not here anymore to bless us with your beautiful singing...SIP to both of you.
@@myownisle True, did majority of work. So much younger, had a beautiful gift and a natural star; misguided, assigned to production deal for mass record sales; little help to compliment his level of talent, thus additional help brought in, those studio recordings are proof; the irony is, he had no business with that fun ride bunch, who got real loss on the road called fame. So troubling, those who told a lie about the name; his legacy is what he accomplished while still alive and left behind; musically a testament of his greatness now and for years to come.
I remember going to the drive-in with my then bf watching Menace II Society and this song giving me all the feels. Fast forward 25+ years that man is now my husband and this song still giving me the feels and wonderful memories.
Growing up in the 90's music taught us how to love and it also showed us not to be ashamed to love because love in its purest form doesn't come that often and for most people maybe once in a lifetime.
+Sheretta Baker I just saw unsung again tonight on HI Five and yes, every time I hear this song I am transported back to another time and space. A tear comes to my face too... I miss it sooooo
RIP Tony Thompson, you had a rare and very distinguished voice that will always be remembered. I love to hear all your music especially this song. Rest my brother.
You Must've Just Saw Unsung..Lol..This Is The Song That I Heard From Watchin It That I Just Had To Hear....Memories....Now On To "Quality Time"..Its Also Sad That This Is All The Views This Classic Sh*t Has..Smh..
+Mobbin4theArt Yeah, I came to this page and have decided to buy the album this song is on because I just saw Unsung on Hi-Five. Unsung out here on the West Coast just went off 12 minutes ago. What a story. Every time Hi-Five tried to do something, some roadblock just kept coming up. I know life is harsh but their story pissed me off. But at least their music and name lives on. RIP Tony Thompson (1975-2007).
***** it was uploaded only a few months ago. All of their videos were taken down a while a go and then Vevo created this account for them. Kissing gamevhad 7million views beforevit was taken down, the most viewd of any of their videos.
Music has evolved but there's no1 more meaning to today's songs of 2023. It's all about sex not really being in love. This song is about faithfulness from a man who wants to settle down with his woman, Now days couples don't stay together they just want booty calls and sex. I love hive five back in the 90s and I was truly saddened that this young man died from huffing. God gave him this talent but the devil took it away . 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 I pray and wish this group much success and continued blessings for their future.
For those that haven't heard I'm saddened to hear of Roderick Pooh Clark's passing this morning. This group was legendary. The music will live on in our hearts. Thanks HI Five for sharing your gift with us.
Rhonda Robinson yes from one Miss Robinson to another sure was LOL I was in the zone listening to fly away from the ending credits of menace ll society DVD credits although this song was on the soundtrack I felt like they should have released fly away this guy made you cry listening to his voice and yes girl his range was out of this world for a such a young man he was a singing young man he made you feel what he was singing the artists in the current generation don't bring this same feeling.
Happy Father's Day, T.T., and to all of the HiFive members! Classic music never gets old. To all the fans of HiFive, we are blessed to have heard and loved their music. Unconditional Love, to us all!
their "Unsung" documentary led me here . I fell in love with the song , downloaded it && have been listening to it constantly ever since . ❤ NOBODY can't replace Tony && his voice ! R.I.P. 💔💔
I loved their Unsung episode. Over the years I never heard anyone talk about Hi-Five after they fell off and I always wanted to know more about the group and what happened to them. Admittedly the only thing I knew about them from memory alone was "I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)" and "She's Playing Hard To Get." I've really been enjoying reliving the 90s somewhat with these Unsung episodes of boy bands.
Hi-Five is one of my favorite R&B groups from the 90s. They were so damn underrated. Unconditional Love was always my jam!!! Menace II Society is a classic as well. #RIPTonyThompson
It took me 16 years to gather the strength to start listening to Tony's angelic voice again. It's still devastating that you are no longer here. Continue to rest in peace eternally, and condolences forever to your friends and family. 😢😢😢
@@bobbydrake07017I totally agree with you and it's hard today to find artists that sound exactly like the record and Tony was a talent that when you hear him live you like damn he sounds exactly like the record
Tony!!!! 😩They had a unique sound. When he come in on that first verse " somepeople say im just an old fashioned guy" his voice and the way he rides the music. Tonyy!!!!
Just realize that Tony passed away. Didnt know that and brought me to tears...because in his voice lies the memories of my childhood. Sad how the industry ruins people but also brings them to the world and changes people lives. RIP Tony thank you from teaching me along the way.
Straight 90's music. Your either stepping into your 40's or in your late 40's ...you youngsters needs to hang around people in this age group to understand what good muzic is and will always be. Early 50's y'all good too..
Back we had so much diversity in R&B music. Now we just have Chris Brown and it's not the same anymore. We had so much competitions back then. So many R&B artists and we had many different R&B male groups and female groups.
Back in the days when the leadsingers were unique! So much competition but no one copied eachother! Look at Dino from H-town, Tony Thompson from Hi-Five, K-ci from jodeci Just 2 name a few
One of the best voices I've ever heard. Back then music made sense. An unconditional love is very rare these days. I have that unconditional love with God my mother family and girlfriend. I'm blessed to have that unconditional love and respect.
unconditional Love is a love that will never give up and when we truly have God in the center this Love is not the same as flesh it is God's love and when God brings us together our hearts are bond together as one and this is until death do us part so I can can love my Mate with unconditional love and always stand the test of times I am not a runner I am the one woman who will stand strong with my mate and who can trust me in every area of our lives this is how God made me of Unconditional Love!
July 2019 Still listening to this song. I miss this group along with other R&B groups from the 90’s such as Boyz II Men, Jodeci, New Edition, Shai, Dru Hill, Blackstreet, 112, Mint Condition and so on and on... Music today is not even close to how good music back in the days!
Back when songs wasn't on the original movie,so you had to get the soundtrack to listen to it. NEW ORLEANS LA. 13 years old when this came out, wasn't even fucking yet. Totally different world for me around this time, I don't think our Black youth understand we will never see this era ever again. R.I.P. lil Horace, East boy 1980 -1998
Best track on the Menace II Society CD, there's some dope Hip Hop tracks on the soundtrack, but there's something special about this track. Oh yeah, the movie is different shades of awesome! Come back 1993, I miss you.
It's 2022 and I'm still coming back to this style..these brothers were so freaking good, they somewhat were under the radar because of Jodeci,Keith sweat, new edition and others but damn it if you check their catalog it's great..long live old school R&B...
When I say, I wore the hell out of this song, I WORE THE HELL OUT OF THIS SONG! Just back to back to the point of annoying my dad. He was like dang, outta all them tapes I bought you, that's all you know? I wore the black paint right off of this cassette single. I still have it in my drawer for sentimental reasons. The smell of it takes me right back, Such a good time in music. we had variety and diversity. These brothas had it goin' on. R.I.P. TT! I sure did buy Sexsational when it came out.
+LaCheleWallace... Awww. That's so cute. You should take a pic of your cassette & send to them on twitter. I'm sure that would make them happy to know how much it means to u.
b jor Uh uh. I don't think he was one of the best male vocalists of the 90's. For me, I'd say: K-Ci, Aaron Hall, Johnny Gill, Dino, Stokley, Tony Terry, Eric Benet and a few others that aren't coming to mind right now.
I loved this kind of music back in the day. Romantic, heartfelt, smooth! What happened? We need R&B music to take over the world again. It was so hot back in the 90's. I miss it.
YESSSSSSSS STEVE I MISS & LOVE THE 90’S BC MEN KNEW HOW TO LOVE & TREAT WOMEN BACK THEN💋💕💋💋MUCH BLESSINGS & LOVE TO YOU & YOUR FAMILY STEVE🙏🏾 LOVE ~LMK~ 08/20/2020
I can’t believe Tony was only like 15!! His voice was so…once in a life time! Man I miss this type of music. RIP to all the members who have passed away! I appreciate being able to grow up in this error!! 💕❤️
This is one of my favorite songs from them it just gives me nostalgic feelings from those days I really hate that Tony died he had one of the greatest voices I really miss these days I wish I had a time machine to go back in time some of the best times of my life were in the 90s
insatiable ladii girl I just said the exact same thing on their song fly away a few seconds ago somebody is in my head LOL glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt that way when I listen to this song , fly away and a little bit older now I love the part where he does the little laugh after he hit that note!!!! .
I'm up here watching this video for the thousandth time and wondering what the Hell happened to music! I grew up listening to my parent's music, so I have a few decades in me. And although each decade had a unique sound, they all were great. The 90's was truly the last great era in music. Not taking away from the few standout artists from today, but there is no movement in "good" music.
