Shooting and discussing the Hi-Point C-9 9mm pistol.
Note: Occasionally, somebody takes serious offense at this video, mainly because they are poor listeners, I suspect. They immediately get upset at the thumbnail and ANY criticism of their favorite firearm. Accusing me of being a gun snob, or one of those evil "rich" people seems to be their only lame recourse. I think what really gets them is that I have a different philosophy about buying low-end guns, which I explain in the video and have talked about many times. Personally, I'd rather give up the beer, or other luxuries a bit longer and buy a previously owned higher quality firearm for just a few more bucks. Sorry, the feedback we get is that you come here for honest impressions; I'm not going to make stuff up or come up with a "feel-good" narrative that I don't really believe. At the same time, if you like Hi-Points and they work for you, have at it. I'm happy that you like them and they work for you.

I've own all makes and models of guns. I almost years 60 years of age. I've own several Hi-Points, and shot probably 10,000 plus rounds out of mind, even dropped it in the lake by accident when I was fishing, when i was reaching for pliers in back pocket. It was in the water for 10 minutes before I found it in the water. I fired the entire magazine off without any misfire. Say what you will. My Hi-point always been reliable because I've keep it cleaned and oiled after each use. When you purchase any gun in America all you're buying is the name. Fact. I own glocks, springfields, you name it. I still own them. All you're are paying for is the name. The only gun I ever had jam on me was an old Lorcin,or Jenk 380. Fact

Some years back my dear old dad bought the 9 mm Hi-point at the pawn shop for $25, it look like a $25 handgun, someone scratched their name into the slide, it looked pretty you know, worn out, but because of the unconditional lifetime warranty my dad send it to the Hi-point factory to be checked out, and when he got it back it was like a brand new gun, with the brand new slide new barrel new internals and it works fine, all the parts and work was done for free, so he's got a brand new $25 Hi-Point. I don't care what anyone says, you can't beat that.
@martyneff4008

I bought one in a pawn shop this week and it was $109. it was 10 years old and never fired. It won't replace my Smith and Wessons but i looked at it like a Science Project. I tore it apart, buffed and lubed a bunch of stuff tweaked the mag spring, In the first box of federal ammo I had a couple of empty shells hitting the incoming round and shove them straight up and the slide closes and stuck. Happened 3 times in the first 50 rounds....after that no problems and i put 350 rounds through it yesterday. It will be one of my take to the range guns. It ran great on 124grn CCI

Hi points have an unconditional lifetime warranty. That's pretty legit. I had a .40 cal years ago and never had an issue with it. I bought it used from a pawn shop. I emailed the company telling them I bought a used one and asked them how I could go about getting anything that would usually come with it new in box, and they mailed me a new firing pin (they had updated it I believe), a trigger lock, and a ghost ring rear sight ALL FOR FREE. Simply from emailing them saying I bought a used one second hand. Ever since I have been trying to give them some praise whenever I can.

Say what you want but I believe these firearms have a place. Bought a first generation Hi Point .45 back in the day. I didn't have a lot of experience with guns at that time. With this gun I learned to respect it's power, safe handling principles, trigger discipline and developed a love of the sport. All of this at an entry level price. Sold mine later on as I matured in knowledge and my taste for more refined guns grew. I still think of the old Hi Point and the introduction into this sport it provided. Wish I had it back.

When my sister moved out on her own to Chicago from Wisconsin she went and bought one of these. She did not know a damn thing about guns. Never even shot. But she told the guy at the shop what she could afford and he showed her this. He even took her to the range at the gun shop and gave her the basic run down on how to use it and how to shoot. 2 months after she bought this and moved into her loft she had someone break in while she was asleep and she emptied a magazine at the intruder. She had a gun that she could afford so she could have the chance to be armed and defend herself. In my book these guns serve that very purpose and are good for what they are. If you cant afford much and need protection. One of these are just fine.

+Tony Castaneda That is the niche for these guns. Neighborhood go to hell? Still have to pay off the kids hospital visit? Breaks on your car giving out? You can get a hi-point and continue to get through this rough patch. When you move to a better neighborhood because you ate Ramien noodles for lunch 3 months straight and haven't seen a movie in a year you can get rid of the damned thing. Their are tens of millions of people who can't get by on what they make. On a good month they tread water. Sometimes those people need to have a gun on hand. I would recommend a used gun but that isn't always an option. That's where hi-point comes in.

Very happy for your sis. However, I think she might have been better served with any quality used .380. I have purchased three Bersa's which do not garner much respect from the gun owning public here in the USA, but I love mine. All three are stone-axe reliable (the .22 needs high speed ammo like mini-mags or Rem. Vipers to function perfectly). These guns are very good 2nd tier firearms. A .380 Bersa might have fit her hand a little better too.

I bought a used C9 18 years ago just so I could have a pistol for home defense and because I'm a broke educator. I've since fired thousands of rounds through it. I've never had a malfunction and I've never torn it down. I was at the range yesterday outshooting the famous Sig P365. And the best thing about the C9 is, if you miss, you can always club your attacker to death with it. 🤣 For me, it's been well worth the $100 I spent and my kids learned to shoot with a heavy gun that made the transition to more modern and larger caliber (and capacity) guns very easy.

I used to keep several old 12 gauge single shots around like that. When I was a lot younger, they were easy to find for $30 $40, the uglier the better. One for each pickup, and one for my dirt bike, snowmobile, or tractor, on the ranch I grew up on in Wyoming. Prime coyotes were $80 or more just froze in the back of the pickup, and 00 buck, in range dropped 'em as good as anything I had some very nice shotguns, rifles, and handguns that I took good care of -- I sure didn't want to slide a Yamaha TT500 dirt bike under a barbed wire fence with momentum that had a nice shotgun in a scabored strapped to it, and I preferred always pulling the bike over with the mini 14 ranch side up -- so a $$30 shot gun was perfect.

The gun is inexpensive, yes, but for a reason. It is made for people who need a self defense/home defense weapon but cannot afford to spend 500 dollars and up on a firearm. The weapon is reliable, it can take abuse, it is fairly accurate and it is warranted for life. Not so bad for a 200 dollar gun. For what it is made for and who it is made for, it actually is really a good piece of equipment. Practice with it so you know how to handle it when you need to use it.
