On first exposure to this particular piece, many think, "Oh he's good at his little niche - quirky, strange, different, unique ... good for him, hope he gets better." Unaware that they have actually fallen into the deadly spider's web. Or maybe The Twilight Zone. They watch The Big Push "busking" on the street with Ren doing Bob Marley, the Sweet Little Lady acoustic filmed on cramped English streets with lots of vamp... on and on through broad ranges of genres. Then they stumble on Ren's skillful hard rap, where they can't keep up with the intricate lyrics, spit with a harsh Welsh dialect that delights and antagonizes the rabid fan. Subbed in hopes of following you down the Ren rabbit hole. It’s a journey I have enjoyed going on with many reactors. He spans genres and even mashes them together in unique and beautiful ways. He’s a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, who writes, performs, produces, and engineers almost all of his music. Many of his videos, like Hi Ren, are shot live and in a single take. He is independent, without the studio backing, using friends to make his own videos. He release an album in 2023, which rose to number 1 on the UK charts, thanks to his devoted fans (Renegades), like myself. I suggest starting with on of The Big Push’s busking videos, such as I Shot The Sheriff. Then bounce around songs like Chalk Outlines (live), Fred Again mash up, Illest of Our Time, Bittersweet Symphony (Verve retake), Murderer (official video AND live performance), and on and on. This is basically a common reaction to people’s first time watching hi ren. Kinda like WTF? Then you go down the rabbit hole and see how versatile he is while still maintaining the dramatic elements and the connection to people ‘s struggles. Everyone’s gonna tell you about the tales. They’re a work of bardcore perfection. I have his rap album on vinyl so I recommend some of that. If you like singing…his stuff with Chinchilla, Sam Thompkins, and his band The Big Push is FIRE.

"Renegades ASSEMBLE" Sorry but Ren has a huge RU-vid following of 99% really passionate and supportive awesome folks and me (yes I make up all the 1% lol). I'll think you'll find all your Ren reactions will get "shocking" viewer counts and comments as all us renegades want to see reactors spread Ren as far and wide as possible as well as to see your actual reaction to his music. If you aren't a "RAP" fan like i'm not then Ren is certainly the Rap Musician you are looking for cos I don't like Rap music either but haven't heard a rap song by Ren that I didn't like if not love in most cases. Ren draws his Hiphop inspiration from early to mid 90's hiphop culture and music, and has an extremely wide knowledge of that era. so I don't think you'll ever be disappointed in any track where Ren raps. But Ren is a genre bender from street performance to classic blues, rap, metal and his own defined genre of "Bardcore" and has a definite reggae twist to a lot of his songs, he also often produces "acoustic" versions of his own songs that are often (IMO) better than the studio/video versions. There maybe a lot of calls for you to react to the "Tales" trilogy, the "Money Game" Trilogy, and I wouldn't say STAY AWAY FROM THEM, but I would say, if you aren't confident of understanding his British accent then possibly watch a few of his other videos first before those so you can get to understand his dialect, nuance and some British slang terms.... I hope you continue down the Ren rabbit hole its a deep and dark place but there are carrots down there and you will find some real diamonds along the way....

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

I really liked your review. "Hi Ren" was my first Ren song and I also found it strange and interesting. I very quickly fell in love with all things Ren. Each song is very unique ... as pointed out by the hundreds of Ren reviews that I have seen. Ren is definitely in my top 10 all time artist list :) Ren has an amazing following ... the Renegades ... You will get a lot of views with his music.

There are lots of interviews with him on other reactor's channels, as he supports the reaction community in a pretty big way. I think he definitely helps people connect with his message and vulnerability. Ren tells stories in his music. Videos like 'Hi Ren' are obvious stories. Most everything else is pure rap and regular songs/covers. As an accompinament to 'Hi Ren' you should check out 'Sick Boi' next. The latter is pure hard driving rap and a phenomenal song. Ren lived in extreme pain for many years of his life. He describes that pain in 'Seven Sins' which is also phenomenal rap. Ren's rap songs are not your traditional contemporary rap beat or music. There are a few exceptions such as 'Halftime (Nas Retake)' but for the most part it is very unique driving beats.

The lyrics make pretty clear and Ren himself has said, that it's not specifically about chronic illness or mental illness. It's about the human condition generally. Those things are referenced as he's telling it from his perspective and those things have dominated his life, alongside music. Lots of other things are referenced too, music and tge creative process are referenced most of all but ,interestingly, most peple don't tend to think it's about that. :) It's about the human condition generally and also about accepting that darkness is just part of life, part of existence, part of us. It's not something that can be banished and it's a frustrating, stress inducing, waste of time to attempt to do so. Once this simple, if unpalatable, truth is accepted, life becomes that little bit easier and the darkness a little easier to deal with and to mitigate, generally speaking. Besides which 'shit', internal and external helps to make us who we are and can often lead to surprisingly positive outcomes. Though this is not something you want to hear when you're in the 'shit'. :) Every cloud really does have a silver lining, whether large or small, but it can only be reached by going through the cloud. :) Btw, this is only one small facet of Ren. He does every style and genre and does so brilliantly! :) ren has incredible vocals, capable of multiple voices, styles and tones. He raps like a rap god, scats and beatboxes brilliantly! He plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self-taught! He does his own audio engineering and production. He's a top-notch producer in fact! He directs most of his own videos and many, like 'Hi Ren', are recorded live, in a single take! In fact he's known for his live, single take videos and for his live performance skills generally. His songwriting is world-class! Especially his lyricism. He's a poet really and a bloody great poet at that! :) Last year he made history, by becoming the first fully independent artist to achieve a number 1 UK album! Knocking Drake off the top spot, in the process! He wasn't even in the country at the time it happened. He was in Canada, in the middle of 18 months of intensive, experimental medical treatments! It also went top 10 in several other countries, topped the US hip-hop album chart and topped the iTunes worldwide chart! He remains determinedly independent. No label, no financial backing, no PR machine, no management company. Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren. He's turned them all down! With Ren it really is all about the music! :) Not bad for a chronically ill, independent artist, who's been unable to tour, or to promote his work properly! :) Just briefly, on his health, just know that Ren has suffered horrendously and although no longer bedridden, he remains chronically ill, with several chronic illnesses and a whole host of associated conditions and remains in constant pain but he's a stubborn little bugger and doesn't use it for an excuse, never gives up and has even emphasised the positives of enduring years of pain and suffering, often alongside a wicked sense of humour, which sometimes goes over people's heads. Even in a track like Hi Ren there's a lot of humour. Much of it aimed at himself. :) Ren's a unique artist. A musical genius! A once in a generation talent! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed. You WILL be surprised... constantly! :)

Looking forward to you checking out more Ren, the Rabbithole sure is deep. I’m from a metal/rock background and I can’t believe that someone with a rap/hip hop vibe (although certainly not limited to rap/hip hop) has very quickly become my favourite artist. How did this even happen- well this song started it and I was intrigued to see what else he did… I havnt crawled out of the rabbithole yet and I have no plans to. Have fun exploring Rens catalog of epic ness! The money games 1,2 & most certainly 3 should be on your list to check out along with the Tales of Jenny and screech. I could just list off everything he’s done 😂 but I won’t.

I only found your channel because of this, and I'm glad some of the Renegades have already found you. At first I was surprised to see a reaction to this song/performance only had 3k views in a day so I foolishly thought maybe I'm an early RG to the channel, but very gladly see others are finding you, and many many more will come, considering your sub count at this time. If you listen to the Renegades your channel is about to explode. If you focus on them you'll be hitting at least 10k sooner than you would ever think...we (and also, Ren) LOVE the reactors exploring his unique talents. Ren went years misdiagnosed with bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome they had him on meds that caused him to have Psychosis he had a recording deal with Sony why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day this went out for years before he got the right diagnosis he Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he also has Mast cell activation syndrome he can only eat like few things because his body has allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has had 2 stem cell transplants done he been in Canada for 2 years getting treatment he had to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 times a day he has ADHD too he play guitar bass drum piano produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap he can do any Gener of music and yes he music genius

Wonderful reaction. Oddly enough we Renegades have found you through Ren in a very odd indirect way. Ren can deliver in any genre. So mention what you lean toward and your Ren comment section will reccomend. This latest album Ren dropped is a rap hip/hop album but is next will mostlikely me mire singing. Listening to Ren daily over the last 1.5 years if you check out not only his released songs on his but his live streams recorded and posted in his "community" and on his secondary channel RenMAkesStuff and RenMakesMusic ànd on his twitch and instagram channels you can hear everthing from Elvis covers and Tom Jones covers to Manu Chou Cover. From 1990's style rap to modrrn day rap. On his latest released album 1 song is 100% acapella, one song includes Welsh, his native language. He even beatboxes. Self taught on all instruments he plays including piano. One of his favorits songs is a 1940's Blues song. Enjoy the explore.

Another renegade here, hoping you continue down the Ren rabbit hole. For some genre bending between rap and rock I recommend Ren's "Lost All Faith", "Seven Sins", and "Crucify Your Culture". For a nod to classic metal I recommend his "War Pigs" cover/mashup that he did live busking with his old band "The Big Push". But he's a diverse artist you really can't go wrong with anything you pick.
