In the last video I told you I was starting this little hibernation project, and slow stitching is perfect for staying warm on front of the fire with, in the depths of winter. So, I thought you'd like to see what the piece looks like when it's pinned together, and the finished dyed patches on, but not well under way yet, in terms of different slow stitching techniqes over the surface (I'm gonna go very Boro sewing on it). If you want to see how the sewing pouch I'm making is done, see the comment under the video, where I link you up to the channel I got the inspiration from. She has some very cool projects there, and I'd love to try the rice bag some time too.

Well, thanks Lisa. I have a newer video up with the completed piece now, and of course I wanted to start another project, didn't ? So, I'm making a book cover for a sewing journal now. Perfect way to pass a winter evening, as you know yourself.

Looks like a fun project! I never thought of incorporating loose threads like you are doing. I think I might add it to my meditation scroll. Thanks.

Those loose threads can work themselves into interesting shapes. I think a couching stich or stitches across them will hold them OK. I love the idea of those meditation scrolls, and I found one of those old wooden pegs, the type dolls used to be made with, so I may be tempted to start one myself, with the teeny, tiny scraps I'm generating in projects.

I'll do another video in the next day or 2, showing further progress on this piece, because I know I like it when I can see how other people's slow stitching things progress, and I'll also make sure to leave some of the Boro style bit to do, to show how I came up with a "Faux Boro" alternative needle and thread options, that allow you to pretend you're a highly-skilled Japanese tailor, doing long rows of running stitch the way they do, without even having the right threads and needles. Please forgive my lack of expertise, in advance, and we'll hope no Japanese tailors watch and get the horrors at my technique
