Thank you so much for this video! You're awesome man, it helped me a lot. I was deciding between 6000k or 8000k but people say that 8000k is borderline ricey and cop's are also able to distinguish you from groups easier. So I went with 6000k HID.

Excellant Video Man!!👍👍 very well detailed and Honestly probally the only video on youtube that shows the true TRUE in-Life Color look of these hids. Was debating soo much on 5,6, & 8 k but all other videod and pictures on google just show blue on all of them 🙀 Great Work!

Thank you. Seems as most other videos let the camera adjust white balance so the results are useless. Thanks, this is very good... The human eye is more sensitive to the warmer end, more amber/yellow wavelengths, so more visible than toward the cool blue end...

I've known the basic of "higher temperate, lower output," but that bar graph was really helpful. I didn't know the output would drop so drastically from a 5000k to a 6000k. Thanks!

5000K seems a little "spooky" kinda light which reflects with low contrast. 4300K may appear a little yellowish but it's more "visible" light which brings more contrast and definition, at least to my eyes.

Two things to highly consider is your type of headlight housing one is if your running a reflective housing with hids you will blind on coming traffic however if you are running projection housing with hids or leds you will not blind on coming traffic so consider this tips.

Thanks a lot for such good explanations, was wondering about and HID kit for my Fabia 2, hallogen bulbs are terrible, I can barely see anything when I have a night drive... As it's a bit illegal I would go for the 5000 K, 6000 K color is really nice but it's too evident that you have xenon bulbs.

Hey dial, Thank you for uploading this video. I have been thinking about putting some hids in my Lexus sc400. And when ordering it gave me a huge variety of anything from say 3k-12k+ The main reason I want hids is because I am blacking my car out. So i am tinting the headlights a bit, so that in itself will put my visibility/brightness down alot. So I want hids too help me with my visibly and brightness and being able too see more. And you have made it clear that 6k is the way too go!! Thank you soo much.

Great Vid. I seen some vids about different power outputs of the ballast also causes a colour differentiation given the same temperature, commonly a 35W vs a 55W. It'll be great if you could do a vid on how 'washed out' a given temperature will be with a same temp bulb. One things is not talked about clearly or lacking info online is the major differences between an 'S', 'R' and 'C' bulb as I understand fundamentally what each stands for and hence need to match the type with the design of the headlight but would be interesting to see footage of 'mismatched' setups, ie D4S bulb on a D4R Headlight or vice versa given the ballast specs are the same.

like the video best part is how you show the graph that once you go to a brighter color temp bulb ( over 5k ) it puts out less light on the road. have had a few friends argue that with the same ballast the brighter the color temp the more light it puts out. some times you cant explain it to people but once you pass the 5k mark you are only making your light on the road less and less.

55W at 6000K is the best look and best visibility. 35W at 6000K is way too blue. At 55W, its white with a blueish tint. If you're looking to get a 35W kit, then get one with a 5500K bulb. DDM Tuning kits are by far the best I've used.
@orfeous
@orfeous 2 года назад
Ah, didnt know that.. ive always used ~35W kits with 6000K. Never tried 50 or 60..etc.. mostly because im afraid to blind other cars and/or they will flash me.. dont know if that will be the case with going from 35-40W to 50-60W?

@Shakester71
@Shakester71 2 года назад
@@orfeous with halogen housings, the 35W doesn’t produce a bright wide beam. Works fine with HID projectors. As long as your headlights are aimed right, you shouldn’t be blinding anyone.

@jcb8505
@jcb8505 8 лет назад
Drivers side is always the left side of the vehicle. Just in case you ever ordered something you would say I need the left fender skirt. That's the drivers side. And before anyone argues the fact get a flashlight and go look at your taillight on the drivers side you'll see an L or if you were to take out the skirt it will have an L or any part for that matter. Always stand in the back of the vehicle and go by left and right not the front. Just trying to help. :-)

Aftab Alam Yeah I thought of that, but in America drivers side is always left side. No ones perfect, I'm sure not but if your doing a tutorial try to be as correct as you possibly can. I mean someone went through the trouble to get the camera and car and bulbs, etc, etc. Mine as well do it right!

I need the best option because here in Monterrey México we have a lot potholes every where and today i had 3 tires damaged about that so could you suggest me the better option please?
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 8 лет назад
+Alex Villarreal Wow that sucks that your tires are damaged. My opinion is anything from 4300k to 6000k has good light output. Anything higher and it's useless. 5000k has very good light output and that's the one I like to use. Just be aware there will be glare in reflector housing to on coming traffic when you install HID bulbs in these type of housing.

5000k is white, anything higher is blue, I would rather have 4300k over 6000k ANY DAY. Adding a blue filter to the bulb reduces light output. That's why manufactures use 4300k no color filter used for the bulb glass so maximum brightness.

The average human eye has its greatest sensitivity to light at a wavelength of about 550 nm, in the yellow to green region of the visible spectrum. The eye's sensitivity to light drops off and eventually goes to zero as light goes below red into the infrared spectrum and past violet in the ultra-violet region. A blackbody radiator with a color temperature of about 5300 K has its peak emission at 550 nm and so that is the color temperature that I shoot for when looking for a bulb that will maximize nightime visibility.
