Hidden and Unlockable Games for The Original Xbox - PART 2 | MVG 

This is my favorite channel.

I remember finding that oddity with the Dead or Alive games! I ran it by a friend who thought it was funny but had some possible insight on why they did that: Since it was a cool looking special edition they wanted to go a bit all out with (big custom slip cover, remastering the games, etc.) the developers could have put both games on one disc but decided to make it 2 discs just to make it a more desirable looking package at the time. Really just the idea that you're getting much more content due to it being multiple discs, like what a lot of people at the time thought when they would get a multi-disc release. So most likely just for aesthetic purposes, and it would have been harder to completely carve one game from another so they just made everything hook to a text file. Either way, awesome follow-up! I'd be interested in this same series looking into other consoles as well.

Sad that most companies don’t do this anymore. Last game I can remember is Celeste , putting the older version as a hidden game

The DVD (definitely in Australia which is region 4, don't know about elsewhere) for Star Wars the clone wars tv series volume 1 (the original one that was 2d animation) has the demo of Star Wars Republic Commando that will boot first on an original Xbox but the DVD has no indication that it is there on the box and it plays just fine in a regular DVD player. May be worth a mention.

Love this channel! Just a heads up for those of you accessing these hidden games from a file manager. If you want to create shortcuts and artwork for these hidden games without copying or moving them to their own folder within your Games folder, you can. This will allow you to keep the hidden games where they belong (so no breaking games or taking up extra space): Use Xbox Shortcut Maker, which you can find in the normal places (ISO zone or Xbins). You can use the program to create a fake default.xbe that is really just a shortcut that points to another file (the hidden game's .xbe in this case, no matter what it's called). No matter what the target .xbe is called, the shortcut will be called default.xbe so that it's launchable directly from any dashboard as long as it is contained in its own folder within your Games folder (or emu folder...anything your dashboard calls on by default). To give it artwork, just name your desired .jpg or .png to default.tbn and place it next to the default.xbe shortcut in the same folder. This part only works with XBMC, I think, and if it had already generated a thumbnail and refuses to display the artwork you gave it, you'll just have to find the original thumbnail in the user/thumbnails database within XBMC using a file manager and delete it. I used this method to create Sega Genesis, Sega CD and Sega 32x icons in my emus folder. Same as Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear. Also Nintendo Famicom Disk System and NES. These are only three emulators in total, but since they each emulate multiple systems you may want to display that in your menu system. So for example, the Sega CD and Sega 32x default.xbe's are really only shortcuts that point to the default.xbe for NeoGenesis. Then, from within the emulator, the first page of ROMs is really just a list of folders to choose from: Genesis, 32x, and Sega CD. Makes for a very nice, neat setup!

Nice! You brought up Geometry Wars in PGR2! I spent hours in that little game, got a lot of enjoyment out of that one. BTW, does anyone happen to remember the only release of Metal Wolf Chaos in the US? (Until the HD remaster comes out on Steam) It was only released as a hidden demo in an issue of Official Xbox Magazine, that required a series of button presses while sitting on the main menu. IIRC, it played tones of gradually increasing pitch until the final input launched the demo. Just another hidden gem I played a lot of!

God damn I love my original XBOX! It is by far my favorite console of all time, and one that is constantly hooked up and ready to go. It's always a hit when I have company over, and little gems like this series will just further aid in making a good time even better.

Just so you know, you can't launch Ninja Gaiden Trilogy from the file explorer, well at least i doesn't work for me. And by the way, i know you are into the Xbox hacking community so i might as well ask you this question here. Thanks to Frosal6, there is now a way to play the Hurricane packs from Ninja Gaiden, there are saves you have to re-sign and an xboxlive account you have to transfer to your console, it works on NTSC systems and on the NTSC version of the game on a PAL system but not with the PAL version on a PAL system as far as i know. I'm in contact with him because i did everything to make it work but the dlc doesn't load. It might be because the Authkey for the PAL version is different from the NTSC one, but after searching everywhere, i can't find the Authkey for the PAL version of Ninja Gaiden. I used Xbetool and was able to find the Signature Key but not the Authkey, i also tried xboxsaveparser with no luck. The only thing i need right now is the PAL Authkey to re-sign the saves and see if we can play the Hurricane Packs of the PAL version of Ninja Gaiden on a PAL system. If you have any idea about that, that would be great.

What adapter are you using to output to a VGA Monitor? I have the Composite and Component Adapters as well as the original, but have yet to see a VGA adapter.

Picked up a perfect original Xbox the other day, didn't realize how hard it was to find everything to softmod or hardmod it in Australia, can't find the games needed to softmod. I remember my first hard modded Xbox, wish I kept it now lol.

There was 1 'mario kart'-like game in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks (not sure if in that specific game, but there was one kart game in one if the MK)

Fun fact, if you put in DVD's with a basic Xbox then you could only see the soundtrack but if you put in a copy of the movie Robots you got a hidden game.

Project Gotham Racing 3 for the 360 actually has an updated version of Geometry Wars knows as Geometry Wars 2, as well as the original. I loved that game too much as a kid, and played it more than the actual PGR3...

I tried to copy just the games stand alone and it didnt really work out too well. I guess I don't give a crap where the games are on the hard drive, but maybe an update video to show how to make a SHORTCUT to the file so I can launch it on UNLEASH. Also, I couldn't find the file for panzer dragoon orta because I think DVD2XBOX changes the file structure or does some compression or something because I couldn't find it. Great video, great channel, love the angle you take on things, your videos are very unique I always watch when I see you on my sub list.
