And for whatever reason the people in charge never seem to think to address the demand. It seems like they want people on drugs and everything else is just for show.
@@freethinkinmelanin6795 correct. The folks in the cartels buy and sell guns and drugs and then...the little folks pay for it..and are blamed for it? This stuff is made in large industry factories.....this isn't small potatoes. It makes me mad that people go to jail for years as the little guy....but consider where are all this is shipped from!?! I mean. The government knows all of this stuff. How do they stop it?! I don't know. Sad.
Eh not really. There's certainly demand for opioids but the demand for fentanyl specifically is relatively low. Maybe it's what many dealers want but most users don't. I can see "demand" for opioids decreasing from this point on precisely because of fentanyl. Cartels have shot themselves in the foot.
As a child my mother told me the story of Karen Ann Quinlan and stressed the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I appreciate that my mother took the time to have that discussion with me. I never did any drugs because of the adverse effects that I was so afraid of and although it's not a cure all, parents must take the first step to have conversations with their children!
@@KIMjB72 That doesn’t mean he knew about these drugs. My pain doctor moved and I bought pills on the street in 2013. I had no clue they weren’t where they looked like (that was pre-“fentanyl crisis”). I had no idea I could get Suboxone or methadone from a doctor for pain, if I couldn’t find a mainstream prescriber. I was in graduate school.
I`m older so I`m past my experimentation phase but it does surprise me that anyone would take a chance these days given what is going on... I`m glad this kid survived...
you basically just said you would try drugs in the past because you "knew" it was maybe heroin or cocaine and teens these days trying drugs is surprising because they're being cut with fentanyl LOL...
Idk why you said it’s hard to believe as if the generations before weren’t doing crazy drugs I mean the 70s, 80s, 90s oh and the 2000s… oh wait… it’s always been like this.
@@slayiana it was not the same because it was not readily available through phones to any kid in any town. Heroin? Was more or less a drug only to be found in ghettos, you also had to take a cab or subway to go and get it on the corner. It is a whole different ball game with new synthetic drugs (technology), phones, etc.
They made a mess out of it. If people had a 2 day supply not to be sold, with 3 virgin laser inscribed needles, resterilized and recycled to the person, it would be cleaner than the rest of healthcare standards where sterilized instruments are recirculating. The problem is this: they just dunmped fentynal on the streets in needless so you have dirty needles going around and people trying to get wasted teenagers hooked on it at parties because as with coke, if somene can get 12 people to get hooked on it their stuff is free. So there's smash and grabs and home invasions to support their $400/day addiction. Or, there's prescriptions, no more crack house but a regional business with a license. No one is selling any because they will run out, and others can get a prescription. Heroin addictions will burn out, instead the way they dumped it or in the streets they spread it. Who wants to start a heroin addiction? You can go get a prescription if you're addicted and the party pyramid structure stops from spreading. It would cost less and ends the crimes people commit while people would be in business with a license. You can afford that plant. 🌿 Now, WW2 was a multi national depop.ulation war Check this out 45-65 percent of the world would say thanks for a take home fentynal drink with a micro serial number in it and the world wouldn't have to do WW3, 4, 5, 6. The world would double its available resources to a world only full of those that want to be here, about half, and the average poor person would have 2 houses, 2 cars, 2 cows, ice cream, cheese and oil and clean water to last the planet. Take fresh lawnmower clippings to be sprayed with water and put in a flash freezer and you might double your cattle production. All the head every week fresh cut from lawns and fields across America Save 3200 on your property taxes, how somene to more your lawn on the day before pickup, fresh coupons and you qualify, bad nasty bags of grass go to a divided back part of the truck and you lose a little credit. Save 3200 and buy a t-bone and cheese and ice cream and milk while somene has a job mowing lawns! The grass gets taken and sprayed with water and frozen and sent to cattle ranches. As it thaws it picks up more mistrust and the cattle have food and water. On the ranch there is an indoor feeding area where grass comes out of the cooler on a conveyer, or is fresh and cool and ready to eat, and moist. As it comes out of the cooler on the conveyor so a little cool air and it is cooler where the cows eat with a plastic strip door keeping the cooler air inside. After awhile the concept takes The grass back into the cooler so it won't spoil and fresh grass comes out at the other end of the cooler conveyer Do this asap
, it's unique on how news outlets are covering this topic when it deals with certain populations. It's a mental health crisis vs criminalistic. The individuals are inherently good in nature but just happen to fall under extenuating circumstances. Very contrasting. I pray for the people & supportive family members who suffer from addiction and I also pray that this new found epiphany of empathy & grace extend throughout all populations who suffer pain and loss thru drugs.
People from all walks of life and background take drugs , many wealthy, from middle class, suburbia, and two parent households. As the kid said, it’s become ubiquitous in society and on college campuses. Too bad refraining from taking drugs doesn’t have the same virtue signaling effect as climate change and gender equality.
I was trying to find the words to say this! All I can remember is my sister died of an overdose and the world didn't give a damn she was just a junkie. The demographic has changed and now we're supposed to be concerned. I pray they find a solution and all life is precious but forgive me for not being as caring as much as I should.
My brother didn't make it... since I lost him to it in 2020, I haven't been "ok". He was 23 (almost 24), at the time, I had just turned 22... We were just like a lot of brothers.. we played Xbox together, loved sports, throwing the ball around, playing volleyball, going fishing... he made one wrong move. All of that is just a memory now. The people who make and distribute this drug... need to be removed from every society... permanently.
❤️ I lost my best friend. In an instant. I agree with you 100%. People are saying drugs should be illegal but i tbh m they should be legal because at least you know what you are getting! It was E for my friend :/. She was celebrating being done with nursing school and was the top of her class. We miss her immensely
Unfortunately college students think they are invincible. My son is a college freshman and he said drugs are everywhere in college. He said drugs are so easy to get just by walking into the bathroom. In fact, a student was found dead in the dorms at CSU today and it was probably from drugs.
that is terrible, what happened to kids playing having fun hanging out and dances normal things, I can't believe kids get into drugs. my daughter in middle school said kids do drugs in school, freaked me out. she is about to be home schooled.
It's good to hear the voice of someone who survived because so many don't. I personally know of three people who have died from a fentanyl overdose. One of them didn't even know he was taking a pill with fentanyl in it. I hope with all my heart that stories like this can help save the lives of many.
I'm now a believer( ex Morphine Fentanyl RX use) that Fentyni is a great medication when prescribed and used per RX . I had no withdrawals, nothing, so I believe the street drugs are of grave concerns! I was in hospital when introduced to this med. And at the time, our young Quarter back made headlines that he had died from Fentanyl overdose, I went on and was prescribed this med.for over a year, I had no problems getting off of it and I did not taper as my Dr.died of cancer and I had no choice.it is the street drugs that kill, and when used improperly any drug can kill, Fentanyl saved my life,no matter how powerful, it worked wonders on my pain.Moral of story, DONT USE STREET DRUGS!Don't think you are buying rx meds.from your local drug dealers, use your meds as prescribed and you may be just fine
I survived Fentanyl just fine,I used as prescribed,it was an excellent medication for pain, and I easily ended my use of it,these stories are just horrifying.I can't quite understand because Fentanyl never did these things to me.Best of luck all...
My brother also named Charlie died December 7, 2022. He was clean for a long time. His relapse killed him and we believe it was fentanyl.. I miss him so much. He was such a good person. So loving and caring and I know he would never want to leave us. I wish they would do more to stop this drug from circulating. Why don’t ppl care it’s killing someone’s brother/sister/daughter/son etc…? I just wish there was something I could do. Charlie I’m glad you’re alive. I wish my brother Charlie was still here I’d do anything to get him back
I lost my brother a couple years ago, due to drug being laced with Fentynol. This is heartbreaking that so many young people are lost to this 💔, is the world we live in 😔. Thank God that Charlie survived and can share his story. May God bless him and all those who are suffering because of this.
Yes. Those sellers could actually be Satanic agents without you knowing. Those are not your friends, they are destroyers of destiny. Evil communication corrupts good habits, period.
This is sad but not surprising that it’s become such a big issue. Fentanyl use is pushed to kids and glamorized in shows like euphoria that normalize drug use. When I was in high school all folks did was drink or smoke weed. Now kids are casually taking percs, xannys, fentanyl. It’s crazy
Fentanyl's not even fun, it's just an instant life-ruiner. This is what people used to say about heroin, but now so many people wish they could get clean heroin. Maybe they could live actual lives again.
And they're doing all these drugs BECAUSE the drugs are so easily obtained, and they want to be like all the other druggies...IT'S COOL, MAN ! NO, it's STUPID ,MAN! ...Be a leader , NOT a follower ... The only place your drugged-up friends are going to lead you is down the road to HELL ! WAKE UP ! Or someday you won't be waking up.
Things have really changed since I was this age. I am now 54. I could have very easily died by taking these kind of dangerous drugs had they been avaialble 35 years ago. Today I am a very successful business owner, a husband, a father, a brother and a very good friend - smart too. I did stupid things when I was his age, most of us did. This young man seems very smart too, educated and he made a stupid decision too. I applaud him for appearing on this show. I can bet he will NEVER, ever try drugs again. he was very lucky. This is such an important video. I hope lots of people share it.
I am your age and yes there was indeed dangerous drugs in our time, some more in geographical areas not wide spread and most reached a national level that is still in abundance today everywhere. But I will point out that the drug of fentanyl or worse car fentanyl is deadlier than any drug of our time hitting the streets unfortunately.
Yes, addiction doesn't come out of the blue and attack you ...Usually , you make a conscious decision to be addicted to something. The DANGERS of drugs have been preached in this country for decades , but many have intentionally not been listening to all the warnings ...So, as the saying goes , " You make your bed , you lay in it " Sorry, but I have no sympathy for these people ...My sympathies are elsewhere, for people who have bad things happen to them through no fault of their own.
Parents shouldn't rely on the schools and the government to educate their kids about the dangers of drugs .. They HAVE TO do it themselves ,and start EARLY . They should be drumming it into their kid's heads about how dangerous drugs are .
It’s heartbreaking 💔 my heart is missing a piece my beautiful 17 year old niece died last year by taking a Percocet laced with fentanyl giving to her by a friend. Please talk to your kids
I'm sorry for your loss 😢😢😢 it's heartbreaking 😢, but Yes!!! I have a already been talking to my 6yr old!!! Yes! My 6yr old because now that those monsters have been making them look colorful and candy lookalike, I have to have a talk with him already at such a young age because I'm scared to death that a kid will bring them to school and he may think it's candy 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Please please spread the word around that Fentanyl looks like brandname Percocet and says 30 on it, it's round and blue. Or rainbow colors. I think it's over 100 times stronger than Percocet and people don't even know what it looks like. So pictures of it should be posted everywhere to help educate our people and keep us safe.
don't know what's more disturbing, comments suggesting murdering a drug users to stop him from selling, or is it the drug seller advertising in the first reply?
Agree completely no mercy on these monsters they are killing our children! Millions devastated by this evil drug! This stuff is everywhere and no one is safe!
Half the households in the USA do not have a father. Most mothers work 2-3 jobs. We have to address the problem of the absent father in our nation, they need to step up to head the family. As mandated by God and any psychotherapist. Men are supposed to lead the family and should be the steward of this planet, they HAVE missed the mark!
My 26 yr old son died of cocaine laced with fentanyl in June. I HATE that fentanyl is everywhere now and our Government isn't locking our borders down. Harsher penalties to dealers, traffickers need to be made for this to stop too.💜Jordan💜 forever 26
I’m am sorry for your loss, my 22 year old nephew died last month from fentanyl and I lost multiple other friends to herion before fentanyl hit the streets! We thought the 90s was bad things are so worse now it’s seriously scary! This stuff is everywhere and no one is safe!
When I was hooked on blow there was talk ab dealers in Portland cutting their supply w crystal and fentanyl and I didn’t care. “Don’t do drugs” it only takes one hit and then every priority in your life changes instantly. The need, addiction, and the feeling is far more important than anything imaginable. Death doesn’t scare addicts. It’s sad but it’s the truth I hope this helps show a lil perspective on an addict to non addicts but I honestly can’t describe the trance I was in. And I hope you’ll never experience it❤️
I dated this girl in college who was in almost all respects more intelligent than I, yet she had a weak spot for weird drugs around campus. She just trusted that they were ok and couldn't imagine something so small could be deadly. Fortunitely none of them were but they still messed her up, plenty of times I'd have to take care of her after she took some sketchy tab. Glad she lucked out but stay away from all that crap. Hopefully cannabis will be legal everywhere soon, stick to that and some beers if you want to have a good time.
i'm 100x more worried about how they're making the synthetic opiods than a dosage. media wants you to think you can drop dead instantly from one pill, but that's far from the true LD100
Charlie thank the Lord you survived, please please keep sharing your story! We need victims of this fentanyl crisis to scream this from the rooftops. Hopefully your story will resonate with others who are considering taking any illegal drugs.
@Kristen L victims??? What do you mean no one is forcing these ppl to take the drugs on the streets if a doctor didn't give you or anyone a prescription then you shouldn't be taking them plus, this only matters because generation of yt ppl are dying but during the crack epidemic when it was killing black ppl no one cared no laws passed,no you get rehab over jail fk that y'all old enough to know don't do drugs
.....yep, so do i,...but instead, The LEGAL and POLITICAL powers-at-be turned a blind 👁 to the ten's of thousands of drug deaths in "certain" communities and celebrated those numerous deaths,....OR if they didn't die they were givin longgg prison sentences. ......what a Beautiful country the United States is,...Right🤢
Not sure what he took saying “I don’t feel so good”. I was an addict for close to a decade, all because the first time I tried it, I felt better than I ever knew was possible. Then your body and brain tells you you can’t live without it, all the while you are breaking the hearts of everyone that loves you. Recovery is possible, but please know that all it takes is just one try. Next thing you know it has you by the throat, and controls absolutely every second of your life.
Ha no it does not only take "one try". The only people who react that strongly to opioids and are basically guaranteed to be addicts are people who suffered from maternal neglect at a very young age. Because it deprives the brain of endorphins. People who were neglected as children react very differently to opioids, particularly the first time(s). Also I take hydrocodone all the time and feeling unpleasant on an opioid is pretty normal.
@@blessedhandsthemommythebus5708 I’m so sorry to hear that. You have to use tough love as much as you probably hate doing it. It took me having my best friends pass away, my fiancé leaving me , and losing countless careers. I had enough one day, swallowed any pride I had and moved home with my mom (I’m almost 40) and literally locked myself in a room for 2 months. I eventually started taking kratom because my anxiety was too much to handle, and it has saved my life. I can send you my number if you or him need someone to talk to about it. Sending love your way
I don’t know who’s reading this but if you are be very very cautious about even walking past or even standing near someone who you suspect is on that drug I literally walked passed someone and in that same moment he opened his jar and the breeze blew some of that garbage into my airways and I felt it, it is terrifying and a terrible terrible feeling I warn you DO NOT even walk near these people it is not a joke stay very far from these people
This is not true, breathing in a little fentynal won't do anything to you. Police departments like to pretend that this happens too. Just stop and read.
NARCAN IS AVAILABLE at any PHARMACY without an RX. More people should know this and have it on hand.. some states provide it free ... As far as administration... There's nothing hard about getting it in someone's nose via the most common form.. nasal inhalant spray. Sooo... YES, YOU CAN NARCAN YOURSELF ..say accidentally take an additional dose of your pain med, or something, and you start to feel out of it, weird , not good as this kid said. It's not an instantaneous knock out. The way they possibly abuse it? Users feel they can do more dope bc they OD many times.. and use narcan to reverse.. /come back & repeat. It's sickening
thank you for taking a very personal perspective to this heartbreaking problem. It is a paradox that we live in a time with more widespread knowledge than ever about substances and their abuse, but yet people demonstrate such a profound lack of common sense and disregard the risks. One cannot assume that someone else is always going to be there to rescue them from their bad decisions. My sympathy goes to the families, but not the deceased.
I come from a family of heroine addicts; I had three uncles pass away from long term heroine use in the last 20 years. I had one uncle left and he just died a month ago from a heroine that was laced. I am thankful he no longer is in pain from addiction but it’s life they lived. I am thankful I have no type of addiction but it can happen. What else aren’t they lacing?.
This is such an important message to get out..TY for doing this💜Please parents/caregivers don't think..just KNOW it is in your schools and collegs towns ect💔and if nothing else pier pressure is real😔God bless all of you and your precious families🕊🙏💜
You should always assume that the illicit drug you’re taking could kill you, no matter if it had fentanyl. If it’s a pill, a powder, a wax, or anything you can’t trace you’re knowingly making a horrible decision. Laura is right, “don’t do drugs” isn’t effective because it lacks dialogue or context - But it is part of the answer, the other part is coming down hard on dealers.
Or...we can just regulate and legalize the adult consumption of drugs. Their price would plummet and everyone will know exactly what they're geting....pharmaceutical grade pre drugs. CVS and Rite-Aid both sell addictive drugs right now, you don't see drive bys and turf wars between them? Why? Because it's legal, not the black market where there is no legal recourse for grievances other than violence. But keep fighting this war on drugs...any day now there will be no drugs. Any. Day. Now.
What do you mean "no matter if it had fentanyl"? If you test it and it doesn't have fentanyl that's a huge relief no matter what drug it is. "Don't do drugs" is not part of the answer because only 1 drug is the problem and that's fentanyl. I'm actually jealous of Russia and Iran right now having a "heroin problem". Wish we still had heroin in North America.. The first wave (oxy) and second wave (heroin) of the opioid epidemic was heaven compared to the third wave which is fentanyl.
Geez the days of drinking beer and smoking weed and calling it a day are over. I'm glad Charlie lived he's so young and seems like a good lad and has a lot to offer.
My doctor and pharmacy, both, have given me Narcan for just in case. I've never done street drugs whatsoever. They gave them to me because I am prescribed pain medication for a long-term health condition. I'm careful regardless, and never take more than my dosages everyday. But it's good for 'just in case'. I wish Fentanyl never existed... scary stuff.
fentanyl was developed for people who where dying of cancer, this was to give them pain relive before there passing, some how the drug company was able to get people that had bad backs, or knees or other pain addicted to this stuff, then the cartels got a hold of because the formula of it was leaked on the internet, and there is some prof that this was done by a drug company to hurt there competitor look into it, the usa gov knows all about this, this was all under w bushs presidency so many bad things happened everyone says bad things about trump and biden but they are nothing compared to the shady stuff bush and the republicans at that time did
@@LoloO42 That's what I said. I think they mean in case of accidental O.D. But still... there wouldn't be so many O.D.s if that were the case. Their logic here is confusing.
I was playing Russian Roulette with M30s. I knew they were fake but I was hooked. Had a legal script for Oxycodone 15 MG, but was also taking the M30s. Snorted every pill for 11 years, had a docs script for them too, never swallowed a pill. Did a medical detox for 5 days & I’ve been off them for 1.5 years. Good for you Chuck!
Glad you survived man. I had a buddy that was not so lucky. And same with his good buddy. Right after I got married and stopped hanging out with all my single friends, that’s when a couple of them dropped. Being married and having a family has been a blessing in more ways than one. But hey let’s keep the border wide open and let these drugs flow in more than ever. 🤦🏻♂️
Most drugs come through ports... like the vast majority of them. At least know where you should increase security. Not to mention the tunnels the drill out, submarines they make, and unless we do the same thing with Cananda they will just come in through there. "I hate these bad roads in my state, if only we could close the border, it's from to many brown people using the roads". God you people are stupid.
This has been going on long before the news picked it up, I’ve been in the scene since I was 18, I’m 24, I’ve been to countless shows at clubs where people “wig-out” or just flat out collapse to the ground, foaming at the mouth, fake drugs are a huge problem and have been, Ecstasy, Coke, Pills, Ketamine, are no longer a good time, it’s a serious risk that you might not make it through, I’ve seen so many people get pulled out of night clubs and concerts on stretchers. If we legalize drugs people won’t get poisoned, I know it’s not what America wants, but guys, regulation of drugs would solve this problem.
Why can't the news create shows regarding the reasons why people use drugs to begin with? They're looking for solutions instead of looking for causes. Very stupid media we have out here.
Bet you'll all miss heroin...good ol heroin..I miss it...that's why I quit. Fentanyl sucks. It's potent yea but no euphoria, it's cold synthetic and clinical. Heroin feels like a warm hug from God. NO comparison. Bring heroin back
I was out having beers at 1am with my nextdoor neighbor, and my neighbors daughter across the street pulled up OD'ing on this trash. I performed CPR and she started to breathe again after a large gulp of air. I was also honored to carry a 94 year old WW2 survivor out of her house while it was on fire I've never experienced such instances until that point, I also didn't hesitate to do what I could. We have the power to make this world the best or worse place, for whatever reason you can muster. Other than corruption, greed and our own desires above others. I'm the worst, so if I can accomplish those two small tasks, you all should be doing 100 times more.
Another question to ask is; why are people feeling the need to take drugs? Because youve cut them off from nature. Forcing people to pay to enter parks; not giving them places to camp... closing parks at night forcing people to go home or to a party or bar. There has to be more outlets than partying and stuff at night; not everyone wants to sit in a bed and watch netflix; its depressing
People are also dealing with trauma and kids are growing up in toxic environments. I don't think it's any one thing but I do believe there needs to be more focus on eliminating the attraction and addiction. Getting a drug off of the street just leads to them finding a replacement because THEY WANT TO GET HIGH. Definitely need to look more into the why.
You're projecting. Yeah, seperation from nature contributes to maybe not respecting your environment and your role as a person in our society, but the root is mental healh issues. Step back and look at this situation with a wider lense and don't look at it to try and conclude a reasoning.
@@marshalyapado Mental health problems have many causes and among them are certainly an unhealthy and unnatural living environment. So the original comment is putting too much emphasis on one issue but its not wrong
It gets too old for a nightly coverage. People will begin to think its boring. Besides, we can all talk about it till we are blue in the face but that's not going to solve anything. We need yo look at who is letting this continue. Usually its s group of bad cops who realize selling yhe same thing they are trying to get rid of can be very, very profitable
My friend had a neighbor that would always come hang out he was 5 years younger … he became friends me and others from the same HS when we all eventually graduated.. he got into fent after his mom died and od’d. Rip fig :( hope you’re happy up there ❤ this stuff is terrible. Ppl seek them out that’s crazy🤯
My brother not too long ago took what he believed was a Xanax however little did he know it was laced with Fentanyl and other drugs. He was cold and unconscious my dad performed CPR while the paramedics came luckily they brought him back. He tells me he doesn’t do drugs anymore however he still smokes Cannabis. I know people say it’s not bad for you however I think otherwise that’s how he started with Cannabis and tried seeking out other drugs. I tried seeking help for him. However he refuses and right now he is in a depressed state. He lost his job, no longer exercises ( he extremely skinny), lost his girlfriend and doesn’t socialize with anyone. Everyday I check up on him just to make sure he is not dead from taking drugs or hurting himself. I just hope that if you are thinking of using drugs don’t just think of how it may not just effect you but those that love you as well.
People tend to overuse cannabis for many reasons but one of the main reasons I notice is ironically; a lack of access to other drugs. Meaning they have to use the same drug (cannabis) for any and all purposes which rapidly leads to tolerance, dependence, depression, depersonalization, etc. He probably has other problems and traumas if he can't use other drugs responsibly or has a problem with drugs in general but I don't know if it's just weed that's like that for him. I honestly had to use opioids and cocaine to get me off weed. And by off weed I mean off the dependence because I use it now in moderation and get no ill effects anymore. When you abuse or overuse weed it tends to do the opposite of what it's 'supposed' to do. Also psychedelics are incredibly effective for beating weed addiction. I suggest pushing him towards acid or shrooms so he can at least see how clearly he's fucking up. He has to be ready to face the truth though if he goes the psychedelic route. They hold you accountable.
Cannabis is the lesser of the evils to do with drugs, alot of us use it to help get off heavier drugs .. theres no addictive qualities and no withdrawals, which is why its accepted alot more .. my dad is an alcoholic and I've been addicted to opioids (a certain pill) for 18 years.. it's a terrible battle, I always thought the pills were a better drug than the alcohol because of seeing my dad drunk growing up and everything that came with it .. but there is no better trade! You're right that weed and all the rest is just better avoided! I have 2 teenagers and luckily neither are interested in drugs, smoking, drinking .. and I couldn't be happier about that, but if it so happens in life that they are brought to emotional desperation and feel like abusing anything, weed would be the better of them all. A few drags off a joint rarely will harm no one .. it's when you're smoking it all day long that it's an issue, and it is a slippery slope
@@KIMjB72 It’s clear you don’t know how drugs change the brain, and that addiction is a neurological disorder you can’t outsmart. So how would people who struggle with it know before they start?
My observation is that the young generation doesn't carry the fear, or at least respect for drugs we had. I'm GenX and you would stop and think before trying something, and, at least for me, there is a major divide between smoking a joint and doing coke or pills (both of which I never ever have).
I was prescribed Codeine at age 4 for bronchitis, I literally date this back to the start of a very long battle for me, everybody was high growing up it was rare to know somebody that wasn't
Testing kits should be available to anyone who takes drugs. Testing sites should be part of healthcare. Blaming the cartels isn't getting to the root cause. Why are there so many addicts in the US? Every school & college should offer testing services. Without shame or criminal charges, drugs will not stop but these vital services can save lives. Every person in the US should carry Narcan. I'm glad the schools are providing it. It's a step in the right direction. Harm Reduction is the way through this.
No. Clean drugs should be available to any (adult) who wants to take drugs. Also why are you assuming this is an addiction issue? Addiction is old news. The headline these days is death. Most users aren't even addicts. People just want to get fucked up. Legalize heroin and oxy and watch the problem go way literally over night.
Nurses “taking care of scrapes and bruises” shows complete bias against a mostly female led profession. It also demonstrates complete ignorance of the role of nurses at schools and in other roles. I didn’t spend five years of my life getting a BSN, taking anatomy and physiology including the dissection of human and meeting rigorous standards to be marginalized in such a way. Trust me when I say that nurses have been in administering Narcan in Various situations for many, many years. Nurses can only have as much of a role in preventing Fentanyl deaths as an organization will mandate.
I’m in shock the mother of my sons classmate just die yesterday she took this pill and die she was so young and now those babies left behind terrible indeed.
Do not forget China the manufacturers it’s imported by the Cartels , come manufacturing in Mexico but mostly China.Lost a friend 5 months ago thinking it was ecstasy
Be thankful because I loss my son Ken King 3/21/17 from FENTANYL TOXICITY and he was not alone but his so called friends let him die and then stole his belongings, jeans, sweatshirts, new jacket, shirts, tshirts, all his fitted hats, new big bottle of Georgio Armani, new big bottle of Curve, my son had nice clothes but when they finished taking from him I had to go shopping for clothes to bury him in. Ken would never have let anyone die he cared about others more than himself
I’m so sorry. That’s horrible, what they did to him. I would not doubt he got in that scene because he was trying to help his friends, and not act like he was better than others. I went through that, but I was so fortunate to recover. I have finally learned you can’t fix others or anticipate they will return your kindness. This has not dampened my love of others. I just work in the recovery community and foster animals to help now, and am careful who I allow in my inner circle. I was not, though, for a long time. So sorry about your loss. 😢
@@sciencenotstigma9534 thank so much❤I'm trying to bring awareness to the Fentanyl crisis I can't bring my son back but hopefully I can save someone else's, it's not an overdose it's a poisoning and it's murder
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my 22 year old nephew last month and he was in almost the same situation! He was at home with a so called friend, the friend let him die and stole from him! My mom and niece found him and the neighbors gave him narcan waiting for the ambulance but it was too late, he was on life support a few days but didn’t survive. These people making and selling fentanyl should all get the death penalty because they are killing our kids and destroying the lives of millions!!!
My uncle made music and he took a trip to cali and got a fake Percocet and died in a car his first night there. Them mfs in cali really need every pill out there alone!!!
@@lisadelgado6705 Yes. Do you recall the crack era? It was nothing close to this but made to seem 1,000 times worse & instead of an empathetic approach they did ridiculous raids using armored vehicles & military style police. They gave out mandatory sentences in prison even for one tiny piece of crack. They destroyed communists by destroying families & now that these drugs are affecting a certain demographic Im suppose to feel sorry… Naw it’s my turn let ‘em see how it feels.
Exactly. There are other countries where selling is punishable by the death penalty, and you barely have these issues there. That's the first step, will help a lot.
@@lisadelgado6705 oh come on! the lack of accountability on the person buying it and taking it just goes out the damn window now!? Abusing drugs is a choice.
I lost a couple of great friends unexpectedly in the last seven years, they were wonderful guys in their mid 30s and the other just over 50 I wonder if this was behind it
I lost my good friend Max Roberts to pills he bought from a guy he used to go to a lot. They were usually real and he even tested them. He died a few months ago, he was 17 years old. Rest in peace my friend
Fentanyl is a rock hard drug, no doubt. I was a heroin and then fentanyl IV addict for over ten years. First time I saw it was around 2003-2005. I paid 1000kr (around 100USD at that time) for one gram pure fentanyl. People died like flies in my town, many of them was my friends. Then it disappeard for many years and showed up again around 2015. What I want to complain about though is the info that goes out to the public. One say it is 1000 times stronger than heroin, others 100, others 50, etc. This make kids think that all of it is bs. I got in to a methadone program in december 2015 and has been clean since.
@@djkiid7764 This was Sweden. It came and went away forever* in a couple of weeks. A lot of friends died, like I said, and we who lived told others about it as if we dreamed back to an utopia. "You only needed a grain of salt IV to get on the nod..." *I say "forever" because even though fentanyl has come back I haven´t seen that kind that literally looks like table salt.
@@majkolsson7192 Wow didn’t realize it was that prevalent. Was expecting you to be from the Midwest of the US. Glad you recovered, I wish the world knew how medical professionals played a role in the drug becoming more popular and accessible.
We had 4 students to overdose in Selma Alabama with one dying about 6 weeks ago...very sad...I didn't know until reading the comments on a post about it that the school does NOT keep naloxone on hand...yep...not even the nurse
We visited the border in taxes last month and we were in shock to see how people are just walking across border, thousands - we went at around noon and again at night and it was the same.
He is the lucky one, but thousands have lost their lives to this deadly drug. It is hard to believe that hundreds of people are dying every day from illicit fentanyl poisoning, and yet nothing is being done to stop the spread of this deadly drug. This is a preventable tragedy with unimaginable proportions.
They’ll just hand out Narcan left right and center. For anyone that shows up. For free. Considering people are losing their lives because they can’t afford medication’s that they need to literally stay alive, it’s unfair
I'm on pain meds and I never thought I'd be taking pills just to be normal, for those who don't have a real reason to be taking pain meds don't start if you don't have to,if I didn't have a screwed up back I wouldn't be on pain meds,so please be safe and just say no .
I was on fentanyl for 2 years and and xanex for about 8 months I am clean now for 40 days I had to go to rehab wow I’m so glad I am clean now and survived
