In fact this IS my first full ep of The 99. Your shorts drew me in. I don't even play commander, but I'm loving these takes. I'm happy so see mystic reflections getting love, it's one of my favorite standard cards right now. Oh, youre ugin is now a 0/4 wall, yep.
Honestly didn't think Cratermaker was hidden cause it's (or at least was) in Shaper's Animar list lol. I do love Kaya's Ghostform tho, happy to see it getting attention
2 awesome things about this video. 1st, I'm super glad that Nimble Obstructionist got mentioned! It's a very good card and I hope people play it more. 2nd, I now realize that "DoB - Fernando" is probably gonna be read as Date of Birth instead of Dead on Board... hahaha... Thanks for making me notice it, Patrick! Keep up the good content! =)
heyo, i'm surprised so many people agreed with me on tales end haha, in my meta everybody says "oh that's a good card" but never puts it in their decks haha
I absolutely love Signal the Clans. People either way over value or (more often) super underestimate it. Absolutely has a place in a fair number of decks as long as you plan/build around it
I used to run Mystic Reflection in my decks. The main issue I had is that when I'm put in a situation where I have to start cutting cards, Mystic just ends up being less flexible than, say, Delay, FoW, Pact, or Fierce. This is especially in my five-color decks that are also already running Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy. On occasions where it WAS relevant, however, it really did a great job of stopping people from winning / allowing me to get more value from, say, a second Dockside.
May i suggest Spark Double as an absolute steal for 3 dollars? It has won me many games, i play Bolas edh, when Bolas is flipped to his planeswalker side, play SD and it's very unlikey that you'll lose :) same when it copies Chandra ToD, Karn or Ugin. But even when Bolas is the normal creature side, SD make each opponent discard a card when enters and it's still a 5/5 flyer to deal with. And i play very few other creatures so i'm sure i'm under utilizing SD, but i imagine that in a creature deck it's bonkers as well
I was thinking that you could use kayas ghost form on dockside then you get double the treasures so cast dockside get for example 10 treasures the sack it when kayas ghost form is attached kayas ghost form will trigger then dockside comes back etb trigger on dockside so then you get ten more treasures that’s pretty spicy
3:34 I have actually died in a game of commander because I thought I could stifle my part trigger with nimble obstructionist. I went to do it and my friend pointed it out it says opponents control.
i made the experience that often im legit the only blue player / counter heavy deck and it feels just bad having to counter every single card with an activated effect because otherwise i can just hope for chain of vapor. i played vs a gaven and this was actively probablematic because rule of law wasnt so much an issue here with birthing pod and combos with gaven. i think both displacement wave and tale's end are going to end up considered for me
Might be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure Nimble Obstructionist can counter the sac trigger on Underworld Breach, so in case you wif you could potentially keep it around to try again. For whatever it's worth Ig
Something I think is worth adding to my comparison of Evolutionary Leap to Greater Good in green storm is that Evolutionary Leap can sacrifice any creature, not just the big ones. In lists like Marwyn for example, you can often make a lot of mana but not yet have infinite ─ you can tap your dorks and start cycling them to dig for creatures that help make better use of that mana to continue the big storm turn. I've also done things such as sac a Regal Force to this and Noxious Revival it back to the top with the trigger on the stack. Even without grand lines like that, once you've made a lot of mana in these styles of green decks, you're often better off repeatedly drawing new creatures rather than holding onto every mana dork if you don't have the line in hand already.
Not a hidden gem, but I feel like nesting grounds is vastly overlooked. Say moving a lifelink counter onto an aetherflux reservoir, etc. It's a utility land that sat at 60-70 cents for a long time but it should be a 8-10$ land with how useful it is in my opinion.
Mystic Reflection is fantastic in Najeela. If you are able to turn those 4 or 5 warriors from an attack trigger into dockside instead, it doesn't go infinite, but it should get you enough mana to win. (Or turn them into Gilded Drakes that's always fun.)
I agree on Kaya’s Ghostform. It’s good but does your deck really have a slot for it? I don’t think it’s really worth the card slot. That’s why I run Malakir Rebirth (though it doesn’t help with exile) because it can take a land slot
I get that. Kaya’s is just a preventative… No one runs mass Enchantment hate though and it’s doubtful to be targeted. When I get Tevesh out early, this is a great follow up to just play reckless. I’m definitely going to give it a shot. 👌
I at all dont understand why most players dont use counter triggert/activated ability those are mostly the game winners.... Oh yea no flusterstorm for triggers xD
My underplayed fav has and always will be rites of refusal in ANY commander that either draws shit or plays shit out of the yard (that's any breach line). A single color devotion non-specific counter that puts things in my yard? Yes please
I mean to say that the free spell cycle was the first time since 2016 that commander precons really shook up cEDH is to ignore a certain monocled goblin :D
