A little theory goes a very long way. Check out a site called Zombie Guitar and you'll have about 10 ah ha moments per video- I always do. Brian is an incredible online teacher. I played self taught for many years too before taking lessons in person. I quickly realized theory is not that scary and it seriously opens up doors. It helps having someone one on one so you can ask questions- but there are many good teachers online- but ZGuitar is one of the very best I ever found. I would learn the major scale first since everything is based off of that. Modes are fun and super easy and of course Penta for virtually everything else.

Bad teachers and bad teaching methods(usually traditional ones) have ruined many a persons desire to be good at or better at something. It’s like they’re magicians trying to keep the secrets of the “craft” and preserve their relevance.

@@WrvrUgoThrUR Teaching guitar or piano is (or used to be) very good money. I was in a band with a guitar teacher who charges $70/half hour, and his schedule was full! So there are LOTS and LOTS of mediocre teachers out there and quite a few who know very little at all.

Even if you’re an expensive guitar teacher, use this to your advantage and be known as a teacher that gets results by making things easy on their students. This is exactly why I watch so many different lessons, because, so many different people have so many different Golden nuggets that either they figured out or they were taught by someone that themselves figured it out. I have a question for you I'm redoing a guitar I got a brass nut and it's at the end of the fretboard it's on a old Yamaha what kind of glue do I use? Do I put the glue on the side and bottom or just the side cuz the top is a finished product I'm sure you know what I mean like I said it's at the end of the fretboard it's not the little slit in the fretboard.

@@kingdiamondgod5824 meanwhile master Will comes, i would tell you that basically glue it's used just to make sure the nut doesn't slip at all, even if that nut fits tight in its fence you could not to use glue. Anyway if you want to, with a drop just in the center in the back side would be enough, hope this be useful to you.

I feel like you need to see something like this video at the right moment when you've got some knowledge built up around what the notes are on the 5th and 6th strings, need to know your barre shapes and how to switch them around nicely. And then you see a great pattern like this and it clicks. I saw this same video a few months ago and it didn't click at all, but now it's like a revelation.
