@@KutthroatBG I can’t even imagine. You think it’s even possible that one day they make a remastered version of new Vegas with everything they wish they could have put in without Console limitations?
@@PLANDerLinde99 Nightkin were present during Fallout 2 (especially Fallout 1), but the only thing they knew about the Enclave was their armor was similar to the Brotherhood
@@atlasguytinyproductions55 So that's what this nightkin knew? He knew about Gannons armour and so assumed him to be one of the metal men? Enclave/Brotherhood
The "head voices" are likely a passive psychic mutation the nightkin share. While the Master was an unparalleled psyker, it's much easier to send a message into an already connected web, than a few thousand individual mutants. The normal super mutants probably have something similar, though they aren't as intelligent or verbose, so there's less proof. Pretty sure the only ones that talk in the post-Bethesda games are nightkin (with a few exceptions) whereas in 1, 2 and tactics, all mutants could talk a little, at least.
Which does kind of bring into question about the stealth boy tech 'driving them insane', perhaps humans don't live long enough for the long-term effects to show up (In which case, a ghoul would be affected the same way), or perhaps it only affects the night kin because of that passive psychic mutation.
Typically, I finish the Crazy, Crazy, Crazy quest late into the game, so the nightkin in this cave are usually long dead by the time I do it. For that reason, I've never actually seen them passive in any of my games.
If you manage to sneak up to Neil, he’ll divert them, then you can fix Rhonda unimpeded. It’s somewhat challenging, but very gratifying if you like to resolve quests peacefully.
The NIghtkin are some of the last 1st Gen mutants on the west coast. There's not many left to work with, and most would only go more insane with time, even with the cure.
What's funny about the Meyers line after 3:15 is that in my early game a super mutant master followed me all the way to Primm and murdered Meyers. His body is sitting outside near the bridge close to the NCR troopers rotting in the sun
I like the comments on John Cassidy implying the “voices” are the same as the “spirits” in that game meaning they’re real and actually know the things they say and the only barrier is the individual’s ability to comprehend what these entities are saying. Maybe it’s an elder scrolls moment and they’re hearing echoes of players or developers talking about the actual game state not just in universe wastelander banter or an animal instinct type vocality as they seem to suggest which would explain the confusion by the Nightkin. I also like the distinction of “metal men” for power armor factions from the West Coast mutants and “bucket heads” from East Coast Mutants because East Coast mutants are more familiar with the T-45/T-60 platform which has a helmet that looks most like a bucket because that’s that’s what the East Coast BoS have used most while the West Coast BoS and Enclave just look shiny and sleek and the Mutants actually faced them so surviving Nightkin would have an axe to grind
@@bipyf7354 That’s what interested me because he’s the only character from Fallout 2 that talks to apparently non-existent entities and would’ve met Cass’ dad
I spent too long listing the nicknames in this video, and their connections “Shiny Screens” - Securitrons “Silver Chair” / “Chair” - Benny “Chip” - The Courier “Broken Man” / “Broken One” - Mr. House Companion ones are obvious, but I’ll list them here too. “Smelly Ghoul” - Raul “Smart Man” - Arcade “Quiet Man” - Boone “Flower Girl” - Cass “Funny Robot” - ED-E “Doggy with squishy brain” - Rex “Someone like us” - Lily “Book Girl” - Veronica BoS - “Metal Men” NCR with power armor - “New Metal Men” The Enclave - “Metal Men” The Great Khans - “Horns” The NCR - “Bear” / “Bears” The Legion - “Bull” / “Bulls” / “Mars” The Kings - “Crowned Heads” The Monorail - “Snake” President Kimball - “Bear Heads” Caesar - “Bull” / “Mars”
This Nightkin really knows their stuff. "Snake destroyed,Rats scurry while they can." = Snake=Source of subjective evil + Rats scurrying=Unestablished gamblers hiding in NCR can't make it to The Strip. And "Head voices see clouds in the sky, Where is sun?" =Head voices see different factions in the Mojave, Where is established certainty?"
So... "Head voices" met John Cassidy, Cass' father, that means it could possibly be Hakunin or Melchior or both. Or, way less interesting, some other psychic he met when travelled to Texas or before he met the Chosen One... Or all of them. I like to imagine multiple voices starting recognizing Cass and the other voices pilled in. "Yo, I met her father." "Real piece of shit with ghouls and tribals." "Yeah, but good with guns, though." "Terrible bartender. 1.5/5."
The devs really put in details that players that almost will surely miss. I installed the mod More Mojave in my game, and it adds extra locations in the map. One of those places is a train tunnel full of super mutants, and at the bottom was the same kind of Nightkin that comments on Mojave events! The mutants in Black Rock Cave was long killed by me by the time I saw this video, but when I heard the Nightkin in the new location commenting on Cass's father, I decided to spare them.
(3:17) I think I get it.... The symbolism of this, is that Meyers as a sherrif is a kinda Rogue individual. In the ending of FLNV, it mentions that him as a sherrif from time to time murk its own citzens if they disagree with him. He also prev mentioned he got arrested for being a rogue sherrif. *My Theory:* There was cut content for the game to STILL be played after u reached the ending, now seeing the world as u changed it. In the cut post-ending, this Sherrif was supposed to not last. If you ally with the Legion he's already dead by the End-Narration, BUT, he was maybe supposed to die either way?: - NCR Ending: He get arrested again. - Anarchist Ending: His own people get fed up and schemes against him. - MR. House Ending: He refuses to pay taxes or get fed up with the Securitrons, but is easily overpowered.
There's still things to find out about New Vegas even after all this time. This is wild. I'm beginning to think that the people at Obsidian at the time loved the game they were making, because they filled it with such details. (Oh, and of course, "Two Bears High-Fiving".)
Man... one of the few things I still look back is when I sold my Ps3 with several of other games, so far I still reminisce over this game. Such a masterpiece fr
Why would they add such a neat little detail and even voice all the dialogue for some NPCs in a cave that players usually either don't even find or find but have the mutants hostile so they kill them?
Why all of a sudden these New Vegas videos are popping up in my recommended? I'm an absolute sucker for hidden details. 10 playthroughs over, like, 5 years, and this excites me. Makes me want to load up a new save. One small detail I'd like to share is that Antony The Hound-Master at The Fort is the only Legionary (as far as I've seen, excluding Caesar himself) that isn't seemingly misogynistic if you decide to play as a female aligned with Caesar's Legion for shits and giggles (Apart from the dude who ferries you across the river, I'm surprised there isn't expanded dialogue from Legionaries in regards to a woman working for Caesar, wearing their armor, helping them achieve victory and even becoming Idolized. "Ave, amicus" is probably the kindest thing they've told my character. This is probably because Caesar's Legion is unfinished. But even with their faction's storyline being half-done.... It's really awesome. ). Antony also seems to be the only Legionary that has emotion, as talking to him about his life in the Hangdog tribe makes him sad to remember how the Legion managed to break them. He holds bitterness against the Legion because of it. Him and Centurion Silus share similarities in regards to what they truly think of the Legion. I love Antony because he loves Lupa, and an animal lover is okay in my books. He's even bitter that her pups are used as mongrels.
I was a meandering courier...so I killed them all before I got the chance. Black Mountain, for whatever reason, is one of the last things I do in-game.
Just curious, how do you make them friendly? You said they can anticipate the player characters actions so do you just go in there with your weapons holstered?
Yup just fix Rhonda and wait one in game hour twice and if you havent masicured jacobstown they will be friendly usually (just did it after watching the vid)
im on console and you can quit the game completely and come back to reset it and if that still doesent work you can try to agro then unagro them but this also is only affective under certain conditions (oops sorry didnt mean to @ you its a new phone)
There is a shared bug on ALL versions of NV (Pc,PS3,Xbox360) they will stay hostile no matter what, you can fix this using the command setally 0001b2a4 0013f893 1 1 in the console to make them peacefull
I'm pretty sure there is also a cut dialogue to this nightkin that are suppose to be there when you finish the 2nd battle of hoover dam with continuing the post- end game content like it was suppose to be where you can continue playing the game after the main quest finish. Surely this Nightkin will have more stuff to say since how much cut content that was cut from the final game..
The super mutants and Nightkin are so intriguing in this game. Even though they aren’t prominent, the writers do a great job of depicting their emotional complexity and alien-ness without dehumanizing them. I go out of my way not to kill any in Black Mountain and Repcon, although it’s difficult. I wish there were a pacifist way to deal with the Nightkin outside Novac. I guess you could argue you’re easing his suffering.
how in tf have I not even heard a whisper about this? I've played this game in and out since launch and I still learn new things about it like I've never played
Makes ya wonder if “head voices” are actually an external force. Since the nightkin ended up getting annoyed with it when describing the “new metal men”
considering that they show obvious psychic abilities, it's safe to say they're some sort of external force. whether they're spirits or some general psychic field is impossible to say, though
@@walesjedi9217 It's other nightkin most likely, they are also psychic and due to their extensive nightboy use, probably see and hear everything in the mojave to some extent, even if they are only displaying simple takeaways from it.
@@JohnSmith-fq3rg that's a good theory, at least in some part. the only problem with it is them knowing about what happened in the Bunker despite it being very likely no nightkin were present (it works if Lily is there but you can't guarantee that)
@@walesjedi9217 They have stealth boy's and are intelligent and physically capable, one sneaking in behind you isn't that implausible. For all you know random non immediantly hostile nightkin could be stalking you at all times, or merely was in the right place at the right time and followed you in on impulse.
@@JohnSmith-fq3rg except we know that isn't true because it isn't present in the game or even slightly hinted at, psychic abilities seem far more likely as they are definitively a canon effect of the FEV
Even though they are supposed to be friendly after the quest is finished how they describe it above, they are bugged and more often than not will stay hostile, in PC you can use the command setally 0001b2a4 0013f893 1 1 to fix it
Not surprised I never heard them. Either I finish Crazy Crazy Crazy WAY late in the game when cave is cleaned already or blitz through it early by murdering Tabitha (no Science to pass check).
ah dammit. in my main game, i already went in that cave and put boot to ass and made them all die. but, i got a laugh when he said "funny robot make BLINKY sounds" lol. couldn't help it. also, any reactions to the boomers?
2:30 it’s not the salvaged vs “true” power armor it’s the BOS and the Enclave as the enclave were well known whereas the Brotherhood of steel is much more secretive but with the psychic powers and the hidden valley bunker being formed to my knowledge not too recently but also not too far in the past, in this way they can still be considered the new group. With them now being known now due to well, these fuckers having minor knowledge on everything that they can think of or that in a sense thinks of them. But yeah BOS are the new metal men (newly discovered to the night-kin) with the enclave being well known with them exterminating and kidnapping super mutant cells, creating their own, and all the other f shit the enclave did to the muties.
To a super-mutant they create a simple term for a complex idea. The term is made by the most obvious factors. Boone is silent one, Raul is smelly ghoul, cass is flower girl (names like this can actually be meaningful as it is probably a name made before seeing her now so for some reason the most connected term to cass for muties was flower, and then you gotta wonder why. But then again I haven’t finished cass story so it may not be very deep at all.) Gannon is smart man, etc. The enclave are Metal men which is fairly the most standout thing about them well, if the most complex idea you have is metal and moving or supernatural metal as they don’t seem to ever use the term machine, although they would understand the difference between a metal man and metal walker or floater yk (machines not power armor). Anyways enclave = metal men as it’s the most obvious thing. Than you see the BOS and well, they’re made out of and work the same way, they’re also metal men(the most notable detail but NOT the previous metal men) essentially the issue is the most notable detail (and only really) of both factions are their power armor. With simple words with simple explanations nuance is hard if not at times literarily impossible as they don’t have enough descriptive words. “Metal men and stone men? Which is which I forget arghh” like and stone would be a change just for the sake of precision which simply isn’t at the forefront of super mutant priorities. Both are metal men (power armor users) but they’re not the same, (they lack any term or means of differentiating which is which in conversation except for when referencing history) “NEW metal men” and really that’s the only and best way they can differentiate between them. Still using new bad guys who aren’t bad and old bad guy who were really bad but not the new not bad bad guys type terminology would confuse the fuck out of any super-mutant trying to explain or understand this concept let alone the nuance between what makes them different (especially because even for a human all the differences we manifest between them are as fictitious as if they used stone men and metal men. The enclave and BOS are exactly the same. Any difference is small and negligible. One isolates? One hibernates. One hoards the past thinking they deserve the old world power? The other wishes to recreate and rebuild it so that they can be on top thinking they deserve old world power clutching on to an ideology and culture just as much as the BOS does any piece of world ending technology, and truthfully was it the nukes that destroyed the world or the old America and it’s way of thinking which allowed a global company like vault tec to exist, waged war over resources, whilst still telling its citizens to indulge in their own finite amount. Extreme xenophobia and racism, between the Chinese and ghouls what’s truly the difference. They’re seen as disgusting in the eyes of xenophobes, some shoot on sight treating them like they’re feral/a Japanese soldier (off American soil on war ground or near it, which all of fallout is really, there are no more nations, no borders, no citizen protection, being Japanese in America was dangerous but being Japanese on war ground with Americans. That was fatal. The old world, the enclave, the BOS, as consistently as war doesn’t change profiteers of power and inciters of conflict will rise in America striving for power which always ends up just being an accumulation of energy (“power”) that explodes. The oil rig, the citadel, liberty primes march, the water purifying plant in a much more subtle way, and I believe Navarro outpost also exploded, like left over residue from explosions from the FALLOUT of the nukes going off. Strive for the old worlds power and you get it, a self destructive explosion using all the energy and explosives and progress essentially you have stored in your quest for dominance and power.
