One of the scientific concepts behind stealing someone's structure could be interpreted as when I build my structure to be grounded and stable, this improves my capability to disrupt the opponent's structure and stability. The more you can steal an opponent's structure while maintaining your own structure, the more you can gain advantage.

I really like what Tony does (and is applicable in a wide variety of situations) but I'll have to talk with him again about the Iai version. Remember with a cutting blade, you generally are not trying to lead your opponents weight for off balance- the cut will slice to and not remain in contact. Different when using a bo or bokuto/bokken when there is no actual cut and you can remain in contact. In various parts of the 'fight' there is 'pressure' on the opponent to put them off attacking, being able to lead the attack in to give your choice of target, and to keep pressure on after the defence (incl sanchin)

What's the science behind this? Or do we not know? I presume it's taking all the weight to the feet and then building up from the floor which causes the "magnetism" we see. Great video
