@@DIABULUSKIRAoh i remember the excitement to do retopo until complex projects blow up 🤣 now we mostly use plugins to do the base and manually detailed it later lmaoo
this tool/method is still helpful so long as the user actually understands proper edge flow for stretching and compression for animation. the individual vertices might be wonky and badly spaced initially, but using the right tools in sculpt mode that issue can be quickly fixed without losing the volume or shape of the mesh... each person has their own preferences and methods... I actually prefer this specific method for problem solving edge flow issues in complicated areas on non-humanoid creatures and characters...
Not necessarily better. You will still have to smooth it out afterwards anyways. Just a different way to do the same thing. The most important thing is not the tool, but your understanding of topology. You need to know how to redirect edgeloops, convert one amount of edges to other (e.g situation: on one end you have 2 edges, and at the other one you have 4.) and etc.
Just start out with as little topology as needed and remesh every time you need to. Getting 1.5m vertices when in reality it could be achieved with far less is sub-optimal to say the least.
Oh My God Thank You. 9/10 tutorials skip how to even get to retopologizing menus or somehow its 5 months out of date, along with omitting how to get their options to show up.
It's not really that fast and also the point of retopology is making wireframes clean. Those are not clean at all, so obviously cleaning that will also take time.
I'm trying it right now and finding that to be the case. Maybe if you have a large surface to work with like that chest area, but I'm having a really hard time with smaller areas

NAA it doesn't, the guy just doesn't try to get good topo to encourage people commenting. With a bit of practice and using the right additional tools/add-ons this is a pretty quick way to get good topology. (Use the Relax option from loop tools and Set flow/curve from the Edge Flow plugin during/after applying the Bsurface and you're good to go)
