There are subtle cues that he's exhausted. He mentions caps that make breathing difficult quite coolly and chillingly, keeps his arms crossed quite a lot, sits slumped, hints at the toll a solo career takes on him (I either win 100% or lose 100%) which relates to his bipolar disorder, etc. His smile and laughter seem forced.
Thanks. Exactly my thoughts. He either had bipolar or borderline personality disorder. Borderline because he had huge abandonment issues. I have no idea how other fans can’t see it. The moment he landed in Japan he started promoting a non finished album every day. That night he fought with one of his members at the bar, who told him he’s nothing without Yoshiki. And X was over 5 months prior. He was angry when his brother took him. He heard things being thrown and breaking when he left hide home. Probably fought with his gf too. In fact, she left the apartment when he arrived and came back later to find him passed out in the bathroom. It was probably a dumb decision he made when he was mad and exhausted. I don’t think he really meant it. He’d have apologized to everyone the next morning saying he doesn’t remember a thing. Like he always did🥺
@@ralucamirabela7368 Yeah. I think, but I'm not completely certain, it was mentioned in his authored book of photos and poems that he has the bipolar disorder. I've seen it translated online. When you have that, the downs can be disastrous. He was under a lot of pressure to finish the album while it was the Golden Week elsewhere in society. Holiday seasons can trigger mental issues and conflicts more easily under certain circumstances. Finally, one report had it that he was found sitting with his bottom in the air. This would suggest that he indeed had the intention to kill himself because nobody relieves neck pain by making the cord on which one hangs so short that one is left sitting in midair.
In addition, I think hide found it difficult to separate his art from his other life: Yoshiki, a mentor of his of some kind, has had it the same when he has actually permanently injured himself to aesthetically express himself. Such a life can literally kill one and hide's art was oblivious to, even ridiculing, a healthy and stable life.
@@Stake2 I never heard about the bottom part. But it’s interesting. I know the cops didn’t believe it was an accident because of the way he cut and tied the towel around his neck. Not the type of knot for pain relief on a shoulder. In all his songs and poems he talked about the voices in his head, how there are two entities inside his head, how much he hates himself and how terrified he is to gain weight again and grow old. Most importantly when he got drunk he used to tell friends that he’s better off dead. People are just in denial. He got away with it because he made jokes about it and had a charming personality. He was a certified alcoholic and should’ve never touched alcohol. It made him violent, miserable and a bully. It’s so sad nobody stopped him. I also heard he used to do meth with Imai and the others and that around 1995 he was addicted to cocaine but I don’t know how much of that is true.
@@ralucamirabela7368 Alcohol is often a means to escape something. Ironically, drinking a lot of alcohol is not even "cool" anymore among young people, at least in my country. I've not heard that hide did drugs. Personally, I doubt that. He was just an eccentric. It's sad that hide felt so terribly lonely, especially outside X Japan. His personality represented a steep challenge in Japanese society. But still, he should have had around him people who accepted him as he really was. I fear that X was his main source of finding this acceptance. With X gone, he was left without any compass and people who truly respected (=loved) him for all he was. At least, that's how he probably felt. Even in a contemporary interview, the staff seemed to regard him more as a weird mascot than a wholesome human being. Through humor of course, to which hide joined to save face. Still, that's my interpretation of their underlying approach.
I notice he grabbes his shoulder a couple of times during both parts of the interview... like he's in pain, that would support the theory of him practising a technique to relieve upper back and neck pains and becoming caught and strangling himself. Just a thought...
its kind of sad when they start talking about breakfeast and she mentions how people like hide who drink alot dont want to eat which is sad because he wouldnt wake up the next morning
He look normal and healthy here, it shocking how he died the next day :( I'll never forget that, I cried so much that time and I will always missing this precious man
he talks about his future, he talks about being healthy, of getting up in the morning and eating a huge breakfast...this is sooo difficult to watch, knowing that he didnt make it to the next morning...he was declared dead at about 8 in the morning, right? this interview makes me want to cry, though there are so many funny bits...he always seems to want to go naked, as a guy or as a girl! hehe!
I agree completely his life was going good he had plans he fell asleep while strechting his neck and died accidently I never have nor will I ever believe he killed himself
@Mellie Thanks a lot for keeping up translating and uploading these absolutely-hard-to-find clips. I love this guy so much. He's so straightforward! Hahah love how he responded quickly that he has a girlfriend already. It'd be happy to be his girlfriend(-_-) Anyway, we shouldn't be sad that he's gone because it's just his body that's gone but other things of him are still alive and it always will be in our hearts : ) He is IMMORTAL!
.......i cant believe that this was probably Hide's last interview. my eyes start tearing up when i think about how his life could of been in 2010, im not sure if its true, but i heard that X-JAPAN is coming to hollywood jan. 9, 2010
@VideoGameSpeed that's exactly what I thought while watching this... But I wonder wheather someone who hates his life enough to end it could still smile and make fun like hide did in this interview... I can't imagine that. So I decided to believe the accident theory - it's the only plausible one.
Karen Poon but it doesn't mean that he's suicidal. As for me when I'm staying in bed without doing anything, I will start to think a lot of things and it's actually uncomfortable. That's why being energetic is the best thing to forget all of your matter.
this makes so saaaad! T___T he's completly oblivious to the fact he's gonna die the next hours. poor hideto-saaama. T___T ps: he looks so much like rukuku[that's my nickname for ruki] here it's scary.
Now that Ive seen the whole thing, that was FREAKY! U guys know what yoshiki(wikipedia) says abt his death right? Well, hide's talking about drinking too much, and not going to bed till he passes out, totally freaked me! And he keeps rubbing his shoulderoh god oh god.. I wont be able to sleep tonight i'll keep thinking abt him...
@SoundOfSilence1981 i agree. I am no psychologist, but there is nothing in this interview that strikes me as hide being suicidal....thanks very much for the upload and translation!
Hids just said so him sel right at the end...he sid in a way he was depressed...and i think he has a fear of diying...i know a lot of people do yet, with hide you have to understand that he was a celebrity. he dose not like to sleep. he like to be awake. hide your always awake no matter what, i wish some one told you that. before... Look we just miss you!!! okay. now you live on forever. you are forever free.
There is but I haven't had a lot of time to do anything with it yet. I know I'll get it up eventually but I just have not had the time time since I uploaded these.
umm sorry one more comment...the interviewers are so witty and fun! wonder what they thought when they heard the news next day...did they ever make any statement? does anyone know?
@mizuhaa but the other band members said that it was an accident, he was doing some sort of technique for back and neck pain, since guitarrist suffer a lot of spasm... and you can notice that in 6:09 where he's rubbing his back... still, it's sad...
He died of asphyxiation. He was said to be found, with a towel around his neck. Evidently the technique he was using was a common practice. Most say he probably fell asleep, and choked to death. The practice is putting a towel around a door nob, then around the neck, and leaning forward, to help stretch out the muscle. He said in these interviews that when he's tired, he almost passes out.
@whoamikjj55 can you message it to me? I should tell you though that I did not do the original translation. Someone else did and I just reworked it a bit. Anyway, if you message me the link and it's the correct video, I will see what I can do.
Did hide use cocaine? I'm not familiar with him enough to know what his 'habits' where other than alcohol. He just looks like he was sorta coked up... I only say this because I used to move like that when I was coked up!
I've never heard of that but there's so much about hide that's remained a mystery, not much is out there and what is out there is mainly in Japanese, to say he was a big star you wouldn't really know it, sad really as he was so well loved!
It was AMAZING!!! I cried through about half of the film. It was wonderful, it was sad and it was eye opening. There were only about 15 people in the theater. The best part? After the film I was standing waiting for my husband, a Japanese lady came up to me and asked where I got my X hoodie and hat! We started talking about Japanese music, and when we were getting ready to leave, we did an "X" picture! I can't wait to buy this film in March!
Denise Mobers Your so lucky, i wish i had someone to talk to about X Japan and my other interests, i live in the UK so there's no way it'll be shown here :( maybe i'll get lucky and someone will upload it online, was it about the bands life/music etc and was it english subs?
