I'm not a TikTok user, but I'll tell ya this video convinced me that I, and about 97% of the rest of the population, don't have anything to worry about when it comes to TikTok. The only people they mentioned in this entire video are "influencers," and media personnel. Not one mention about how it's bad for the rest of the 97% of the population. There's a hundred reasons to avoid TikTok, but after viewing this video I'm convinced that the Chinese Communist government is not one of the reasons. After all I am about as far as one can get from the top 3% of the population that this video was apparently made for.

Indeed, I remember it so. I am thankful that I know what the world used to be like . I also feel remorse for those who know nothing beyond yesterday.

It was a much better place, I am 61, so I have seen both sides of having or not having it. It can be used for good, but it also can be used for bad, as in what we are learning here on this video. I really wish it was like back in the day, when we had to use an encyclopedia or go to the library to do our research and we played as kids instead of growing up in front of a screen. Having kiddos, at times it is good to have something to entertain them with, but ya gotta watch what they are seeing and hearing.

@@MAYBEE90 Data collection is problematic due to the fact that companies generally have a terrible track record of data security, so bad actors can access that personal data - albeit with obstacles - even if there isn't a data leak. Regardless of how they get it, it really depends what they get. With Tiktok, the fear isn't really a data leak and nefarious actors using it, its more so what type of data the collect, and who they are selling it to/giving it to. Not to sound like a tinfoil hat guy, but Tiktok allows the Chinese gov't to actively monitor user data. Now, individually, user data means nothing. But as large sets of data, you can monitor trends. This means China has their hands on all of this data, and can monitor/watch/intervene on trends. I'm not really sure what Tiktok collects - no one is, due to backdoors - but the following has been found: “It collects search and browsing histories, keystroke patterns, biometric identifiers, draft messages and metadata, plus it has collected the text, images, and videos that are stored on a device's clipboard.” Basically, it creates a huge behavioral data profile of a user, which can then be turned into large data sets of populations. These large datasets, or individual datasets, can be used by the CCP or even marketers to specifically target and change behaviors of a user through exposure to Tiktoks, Ads, and social influencers that they can pay other platforms to push to the user or populations. What I am saying in short is that China has the ultimate Propaganda dataset in their hands, and I am very sure they use it daily.

That is a generalization. A lot of people under the age of 40 are NOT on social media because they see how it has deteriorated society. Technology will be the demise of our society. Many of us grew up without the internet and even in the last decade have seen just how much it has changed. I am 25 and most of my family is not on there. Those that are act like a different breed of humans.

Because for many years every app on your phone including photos google apple maps etc gives you an ultimatum - agree or get denied access. It's not just tic toc. So almost no one looks through all the fine print to see what they are agreeing to anymore if they ever did. Then when TIC TOC came along it was "just another app with an ultimatum" and people wanted in.

First of all we simply don't care, it is not like they are going to come at night banging at my door. That simply does not happen. Data collection serves for marketing purposes and light surveillance not much more. Also Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc have been doing it for years, and all of a sudden TikTok is evil?
